  • Thank you so much for watching. In today’s video, I take you through an (almost) week in my teacher life! Right now, I am teaching full time, face to face, so I have had to make a handful (or more) adjustments in the routines I know and love. I admire your classroom design and decoration which makes more attractive for the students to study. Your sharing of ideas and classroom routine is very much helpful for rhe new teachers. I am also a teacher from Phillipines for nine years and still counting. Keep up rhe good works Mam.

Melissa one activity I did when I was a substitute teacher, I kept the book The Patchwork Quilt
by Valerie Flournoy and Jerry Pinkney. I read it aloud and we discuss the book. Then I would cut out 9x9 construction paper squares. I would also give students 8x8 squares of white drawing paper. The kids would then take the white sheets and and they would decorate it to make it look like a patch. Then glue the white to any color of 9x9. Then take a piece of bulletin board paper and glue the "patches" to make a Patchwork Quilt

What if a kid consistently picks a flexible seating choice because it is the one they feel the most successful in? In one of my field placements, I had a teacher that said “Pick the seat that you will be the most successful in” and some kids consistently chose the same one. I’m just asking cuz you said you would make a schedule but what if certain kids have to have that option?

Then they'll have that option for sure! I definitely think there's a difference when it comes to a child needing a certain seat to help them learn. Like I said, I have extras of these seats available if that ends up being the case, and my building has some flexible seating that moves between classrooms each year for those purposes. I'd only make a schedule if it caused a lot of conflict amongst my kids who did not need that accommodation.
