By far the realest fishing channel out there, you show the good, the bad and the ugly. You Dont lead everyone on to believe that youll catch trophies everytime you go out, keep the realism alive brother!
I do long distance casting with a 15 ft and 13 ft rods. If you are using a spinning rod, use between 15 to 30 lb 8 Strand braid because it is round. Also use a 30 or 40 lb Mono leader to absorb the shock of your cast with 4 or 5 OZ weight. Stand and cast from shore as you can get more back swing to build more momentom, keep your feet planted solidly pointed towards the water and use your left hand ( which is your power hand in casting by pushing your butt down down while casting) Keep looking at the sky while casting and release at 60 to 70 degrees. I will be there for three months Dec, Jan, and Feb between 5th gate to the 10mile mark. I use the custom built 13fters I built for long cast, they are wrapped in red white and blue with fancy wraps at butt section. Also have rod holders that are different . I'm 80 and will be selling my surf stuff off towards the third week in Feb as it is my last kick at the can. Texas Beach Bum ! I love your honesty , keep it up !
Nice equipment there Mr bum. I use nearly the same sand spikes. I drilled a hole in my spike and added an eye bolt so I can step them into the sand. Works great. I’m gonna have to make it to breakaway tackle next time in Corpus. I get nervous when I wade out to cast my reel knowing then rays are out there. Great video. Good luck with your guide service. I hope you have great success
For distance start by looking up at approx 45 degrees as you start your cast (check the angle of your rod after your cast), next start your cast with rotating your hips first, think swinging baseballl bat or driving a golf ball).
You might want to use the pendulum method with a running start? Stand back about 10 feet from waters edge, advance quickly toward edge while swinging, release on the outward swing. You'll gain at least 50 feet.
Great video man. I've been fishing with the 13ft breakaway rods for over 25 years, you will get used to them, but one thing you could do while fighting the fish is to keep your rods up and not down. Hope this helps 😊
Been going to port A since the 70's. We used to catch sand trout and sheepshead and big croakers..even these red looking crabs in the rocks. What happened? Where did they go?
@texasbeachbum that's what me and a couple other guys from Sharkathon were talking about. I hope it don't cuz it will cripple Corpus Financial in the fishing industry. All the big tournaments will head to Galveston and make them more money
Ya definitely need to visit nick on a saturday morning to learn how to cast.. ya scared the crap out of me when ya were throwing spoons last feb down at mansfield and i had to leave .. hate getting hooked by someone elses lures.. good video tho. Fish are everywhere ..
I went to pins yesterd🎉ay, fished all day, and went down to marker 45. Everything was perfect, the water clarity, driving, etc . Hard heads were the order of the day! I must have caught 50 of them. I caught a couple of whiting, lady fish, small Jack's. Disappointing day.
Perspective: Most people would consider me a pretty successful guy..But what was the best part of my day today? Watching you drive down the beach and catching a stingray.😂😂😂
I see a lot of people, especially Nick and his wife, walking backward when using the big surf rods while a fish is on.. is this mainly because its easier than reeling in the big rods?

This guy keeps it real. No bragging just learning like the rest of us.
A good day on the water 💪🎣

If not someone set it up on Texas beach bums newest video
My brother and I were down at PINS and Packery last weekend. Lots of baby jacks in the first gut, and sharks in the 2nd. I lost so many leaders .
It's the mullet run , red drum breeding season as of when the video was taken

Don't need a long line off tip of pole if don't have a long rug,can try laying it on beach before casting, Google that
Do you still have your fishing jet ski?
@@cfcrew6578 yes I still have it

Just curious brother? Some time back you were having some trouble with work....but did you hit the lottery? No offense but again just curious 🤣
nope no lottery still only working three days a week but have lots of credit cards lol. sold my rooftop tent and other things
@@texasbeachbums I hope you're able to make some money from your videos, I know you've spent TON of $$ on fishing gear in the past year. :)
Texas fishing regs says only 2 rods per person. Just thought you might want to know?
I would wade a bit into the water to get a farther cast...............you can get 50-100 yards further..................just saying !!!
