- Concord player counts declined by over 40% in its first weekend of release. This comes in the wake of the game's developer Firewalk Studios announcing it will create an in-game store to sell cosmetics after already charging players $40 for the game.

The only people that are playing the game are developers, streamers that specialize in self harm, and ppl that got free codes from the developers.

8 years for a game like this is pretty depressing. Especially considering the fact that DEI is the death of creativity and caters to an "audience" that doesn't care about video games.

Because there's no such thing. The 'modem audience' don't play video games often, and certainly don't spend money on the hobby. So the whole idea of a modern audience is an excuse for Activists to call everyone racists, mysogynists etc etc etc...

@@user-kp2jj6dd2l I really do feel like 50% means nothing in the context of the playerbase of 600. Like - of course it's a GIGANTIC chunk and at this point it's probably starting to heavily affect the match making, making it difficult for players who enjoy the game to actually play. But like even for a pretty unsuccessful game, player count doping by 300 is in most cases not really noticeable. Their playerbase is so small, the percentages lose their meaning, easy to lose 50% of 2 ^^

Battleborn which was seen as a massive flop, launched with 12,000 peak concurrent players. This game's launch peaked at less than 6% of that. This game is a monumental flop... like unheard of levels of flop. The game literally LOST players from the closed private beta, to the open public beta. I've never even heard of that happening before. They cant even pretend that this game is a success, its not even close lmao.
That's why going free to play won't save Concord. It is a matter of when, not if, the game servers will be shut down. Sony has a proven track record of bailing out ASAP on anything they don't deem successful enough.

I play Fortnite with my nephews every now and then and sometimes I buy them skins, so I know what characters kids and teens like. They would not be caught dead playing Concord. It seems to me the developers never tested their characters with their target audience.

Video games are and should be made for video game players.
I mean even if all 600 people would purchase all cosmetics - that would be such a tiny sum it wouldn't make a difference.
A plan to sell cosmetics is only viable if the characters are appealing, which they are not. If *that* is their plan to save the game, then they might as well shut it all down now

They started making this when overwatch came out. Overwatch released overwatch 2 before this came out. Tbf OW2 is not really an upgrade but it was free.

it makes no sense to make it free to play. Free to play costs money to run. Only reason to do it is if you can convert these free players into income. This games has to compete with many similar games with virtually nothing to offer.

They're just gearing up for the switch to F2P and it will either go F2P or shut down completely. I doubt F2P helps since even the open beta was empty.

Hmm, either they made it a permanent free to play or PS Plus free item within 3 months on PlayStation, I don't think it will shutdown for at least a year. Firewalk Studio however will be on the chopping block for their ugly character design.
This is actually pretty sad. Imagine spending almost a decade of your life working on something, and people just universally reject it. DEI in general isn't bad, but trying to create a game where the big point of the games design is clearly around it is annoying and pathetic.
