Ah but he is also still a good ole boy of the South, as shown here with his ham sandwich with Duke's mayonnaise! The best mayo known to man (or woman)
Us transplants try pretty had at it. Then we are accepted...haaa
Dukes is the only mayonnaise! I have to order it here. But have friends from the South bring me some if coming this way.
Love that touch of paprika in it.
My mama used to mail Duke's to me all over the country back in the 80s when I was in Air Force. And then when I came home, she'd load me up with quarts and quarts of it.
If you listen really quietly, from way off in the North Woods on a particularly cold night with snow in the forecast, you can hear “Woooo budddy!”
And "somebody feed me~~~~~~"

Thanks Shug for another winter trip video.I was up in the Superior National Forest in October for 2 weeks. Loved every minute of it. I live in Ohio so I make the most of every trip. I slept great there hearing the wind in the trees. Solitude is good, everyone should have some time alone. Thanks again Shug.
We are fortunate here in Minnesota with some fantastic nature.

I always enjoy watching a Shug winter video! 👍 When I meet a viewer on the trail or at camp they have been real good. Most of them just want to say hi and talk for a minute. This summer my wife wants to do a multi day backpacking trip on the SHT. She loved my videos from last May there. Never know maybe we'll hear someone yell Whooooo Buddy)))) 👍😂

That’s a question I can’t answer, enjoy now is my advice. I used to think I was unfit and then I got 10 years older, the ghosts of injuries past came home lol. I collect those little salt and pepper packets too, with all the vinegar in HP I doubt it’ll ever go off 🤣

I'd like to see you set up and discuss your winter hammock system from the start, from tree selection, to shoveling the snow, to hanging your system.
I always think I will film all that but it was starting to snow and I just needed to get to work.

Trees. I just look for good healthy trees spaced about 17' apart.

Loved the vid, looked like a beautiful time Shug :) Mountain House Beef Stroganoff tip: I crunch up 3-4 top ramen, toss the flavor packets, and mix it all up. Divide into quart sized freezer bags. Really salty so it tames it and adds bulk for cheap.$:) ☮️ Wheelchair John in Idaho 😎

As an old Scoutmaster, we spent a many of winter nights in quinzees, or even about 7 years in a row, on New years eve under the stars, throw out a big blue tarp and made our beds (closed cell pads, dbl sleeping bags and a bunch of clothes.

I crack up at the "EARLY!". Where does that come from?!?
EARLY came from the movie Kalifornia. Brad Pitts character was named Early. Hickery just started saying early back whenever I said Early. It stuck.
Small piece of tape around that bellows stopped mine from sticking to my lip. Helpful hint from my friend Earl Lee.......nah, jus kidd'n. I got no friends!
I dipped mine in Plasti-dip for tools when I got home. Been meaning to do that. The lip stick kinda hurts!

Really nice video! That is a lot of snow, I have tent camped that cold before. I guess my coldest night in a hammock was 18 degrees F. My greatest challenge was mid twenties F. With 20-30++ mph wind. Here in the southeast the most snow I have camped and hiked in was 16". My hat is off to you. Some nice teaching from the north woods" thanks
