    A frame, engine, tank, wheels and tires!
    A motorcycle...
    Keeping it simple!

    I started riding in 1964 and in the 60's if you had a 650 you had one of the quickest and fastest motorcycles available. I believe it is way more than a "beginner" bike.
    I like a simple bike, I don't need nor want all the bells and whistles that are offered on today's modern bikes. The only thing I do not like about the RE INT 650 is the way the frame is exposed under the seat. On most bikes the frame is hidden under the seat.
    I do like the twin cylinder engine, and the dual exhaust,( one on each side) as well as the EFI and ABS, slipper clutch and 6 speed transmission.
    I am a big fan of fork gaiters to protect the forks and in the long term protect the fork seals since I average 15,000 miles a year. I do not want to have the hassle of replacing fork seals later on and the fork gaiters will see that I don't have to.

      A large part of my audience on TH-cam are new riders, so when I do test rides I address that crowd specifically. This is definitely more than a beginner bike, but its manageable power, linear throttle response, and low price-point make it an excellent choice for a beginner. Not to mention, it's a nice looking motorcycle. ✌🏽

    Correction: there are a ton of modifications available in England. In my opinion one of the best bikes available as it brings you back to what real motorcycling is all about. All this high tech stuff is race oriented but your average motorcyclist does not need or want especially since it doubles the price of a new bike. This Royal Enfield will cause the manufacturers to go back to the drawing board as they capture a lot of the market.

      Great points. I don't necessarily share your opinion on "real motorcycling", but I get where you're coming from. As far as simplicity and style are concerned, the INT650 really nails it. ✌🏽

    As an (old) rider, I'm looking for something that's not overwhelming, and I'm graduating from a ZX-14.

      This might be a good choice for you. My content on TH-cam often caters to new riders, so that's why I mention it a lot when I do these test rides. I also rode the Honda Rebel 1100, and really enjoyed it. That video is forthcoming. Thanks for watching! 👍🏽

    Maybe I’m OCD but not sure why RE don’t check the handlebar crossbar for parallel alignment, I’ve seen a number of reviews where aren’t straight. Purchased
    a very low mileage Interceptor a month ago and mine was the same, took 30sec to rectify.

      Interesting. I wonder if that's a factory quality check or dealer assembly on arrival issue?

    Were you in sixth gear when you at highway speed? So it revs at 4K at 55mph and closer to 4.5K at 60? Would you guess that 70mph is 5K then? I have to spend half my 25 miles commute on 70mph freeway and the other half in city riding. I don’t think I’d want a bike revving that high for the freeway portion.

      @@TigerDavidson about 4500. I tend to cruise anywhere between 100 to 115 kph/ 60-75mph and its sweet as. 4-4500rpm. Red lines at 7500 so it really not that that stressed. Itll do 105-110mph, well into license losing territory. That handle well too especially if you change the rubber. Changed to bridgestone battlax bt46 and the difference was immediate.

      Great feedback from @Julian Perry, thank you! Yeah, I don't think I was in 6th, when I was at 55 mph. I think you'll be fine at freeway speeds for long distances. 👍🏽

    Great video! This bike keeps crossing my mind for some reason. A few questions. Usually a bike at this price point the suspension and parts feel a bit cheap and the breaks are not that good. Like everyone else I was wondering about the bikes ability to accelerate on the freeway, as I see that as a safety issue on California Highways. I currently have a Road King Police but have been thinking about getting something more manageable around town. Do you think that you could do a 100 mile day in the saddle on that bike and not feel beat up? Do you know if you can upgrade the suspension and if it would be worth it to do so. Overall, I like the old school look of the bike. Did you say their are not a lot of accessories for this bike like side cases etc. Thanks

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think 100 miles in a day is about right, without feeling the after effects the next day, maybe a little more. And, yes, there are not lot of accessories available for the bike; at least by Royal Enfield. I bet you could still find a fair amount of third-party aftermarket parts, though.

    • @valientvicky7012
      @valientvicky7012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can upgrade the suspensions. Interceptor engine is one of the most customizable engine and you can even make it to a 850 cc engine if you want. The frame of Interceptor 650 is simple making it possible for customization. Interceptor 650 is higher weight ratio making it stable in highway where wind is high.

      You're welcome. It might be a tad high (depending on your inseam). The bike is balanced well. Doesn't feel particularly top heavy. I'd say if you get the chance, sit on one and see if it would be an option for you. Best of luck and ride safe ✌🏽

    I have heard a lot of reviewers talk about power . These motor bikes ( including most of the sports bikes ) will be ridden in the city and ocassionally weekend rides ... Either way, bikes with a lotta power within the city are absolutely useless - coz you are for ever stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear ....and when you do venture out , you cant ride em like crazy because of speed limits , unless on a race tack .... so what is the use of sitting on all that power ??? That may stroke riders ego ( power ) but in reality you never ever use it ( or should i say use it in bursts ) .... So ..question i ask is - wouldnt you want something you can easily use and enjoy every day , than something you cant even realise full potential off !!
    Another example - idiots who rev their Ferraris or Lamborghini's just to be noticed within the city....those cars are absolutely useless for daily use or an envoronment you would spend majority of your time !!! And that reasoning in itself makes likes of RE 650 extremely useful and fun.
    Life and gadgets are crazy complicated as is - wouldnt you want something simple, something to sit on and just enjoy the simplicity with which you transverse from.one location to another and learn life doesnt need to be complicated to be enjoyed n relished ??

    • @thatoneguymoto

      I totally get where you're coming from. It's seems especially "American" to want way more than you need, and I'm sure your perspective is shared by many. The INT650 was much more fun to ride, IMO than the Meteor, but the affordability, appeal and popularity of these bikes is apparent worldwide and shouldn't be ignored. Appreciate you sharing your point of view and hope you ride safe out there! ✌🏽
