    I love Taiwan. Their country seems to be the most friendly to navigate and visit. Plus their women are attractive without looking fake. Plus their dramas are much better than Kdramas.
    Best drama of all time is "In Time With You" with Ariel Lin and Chen Bolin.

    I came to visit Taipei three years ago and I'm still here... and I don't think I'll ever leave!
    As for what you left out... Here a few of my favorite things:
    Bicycle riding: A bicycle is my primary mode of ass-transport. Riders can get everywhere in Taipei on a bicycle and there are some particularly awesome rides all around the place. And while Taiwan is quite mountainous, Taipei is pretty much flat. I ride a three-speed city bike and rarely wish I had more gears. It's also a great place for you fixie types and road bikers... and the surrounding mountains and national parks provide what you mountain bikers need. AND YouBikes (public use bikes) are everywhere... something like 400 places to get and drop off a bike. They're super cheap to use, too.
    Waterfront parks and parks in general: Small and large, well equipped parks are scattered throughout Taipei. All of the many waterways through and surrounding Taipei are lined with parks. There is no waterfront private property to be found; it all belongs to everyone. AND they provide seemingly endless bike paths (Did I mention I like bicycling?)
    Mountains: Taiwan has the highest concentration of mountains higher than 3,000 meters than anywhere in the world, making it a hiking and climbing paradise.
    Easy access to the rest of Asia: Taiwan's location makes it a relatively short plane ride to dozens of Asian destinations for long and short weekend trips.
    No guns: Don't get me wrong. I'm an American 2A supporter and I've got more than my share of hunting rifles and shotguns stashed at my folks' place in the US. But it's kind of nice knowing that nobody but the cops are walking around with guns here. Incidentally, the cops here are very polite, well-trained, and plentiful. I have never felt unsafe in Taipei.
    Restaurants: I know these guys mentioned street food and night markets, as does every blogger, vlogger, writer, etc. when Taiwan is the subject, so I won't bother other than to say "ditto" to that. Affordable restaurants are everywhere. You so don't need a kitchen here, and many, if not most small apartments don't have them. Rich folks do not despair; there are plenty of expensive restaurants for you, too. But excellent dining and good eats galore are available everywhere at a fraction of what most Westerners are used to.
    And lastly...
    LEGS: Seeing that it's now mid-summer, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention all the beautiful, slim, summer legs everywhere! If that's sexist, IDK! I love gorgeous lady legs, and feel compelled to say that this place is a leg lovers heaven in summer time! So there.
    That's it for now. I haven't checked for typos, but I will... and I'll fix them when I get to my computer.
    Peace

    After living in China for a year or so as well as having lived in America for most of my life, I have to say- my favorite thing about Taiwan is how clean it is. Taiwan isn't Singapore clean (almost no where is Singapore clean, Singapore clean is a different level) but it's certainly much cleaner than China and most of the places in America.

    Taiwan's indie/underground music scene is one of the best in Asia, considering that it's a small island country. Taiwan's entertainment is often the one that's leading the other Chinese-speaking countries. Taiwan's customer service is one of the best in the world (extremely friendly, helpful, polite, and warm). Taiwan girls are generally a lot more likable than the girls in other Chinese-speaking countries. Taiwan's overall sociopolitical atmosphere is more down-to-earth, sincere, friendly, introspective, outspoken, and soulful compared to other Chinese-speaking countries, and society's general values tend to be healthier too .

    The good thing about Taiwan is that they took the best ideas of Japan and incorporated into its culture. If you go to Taiwan and compare it to mainland China you can see the stark contrast between the two. Taiwanese people tend to be more reserved and organized like the Japanese but the mainlanders are more chaotic. Even the women in Taiwan have that Japanese "kawaii" image, while the mainland women tend to be more rough, aggressive, and super materialistic. I would rather visit Taiwan than China because it is more compatible with my Western sense of societal principles.

  • @uptonsavoie
    @uptonsavoie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was in Taiwan for a week back in 1970 (Army R&R). The greatest thing about Taiwan (which explains most of the great things you mention) is that it is not Communist and therefore it embraces freedom of thought, action, and speech. Taiwan also retains the beauties of Chinese history and culture, which have been stamped out in the mainland. As you noted, the ladies are beautiful, charming, and friendly. Something I remember with amusement: in Taipei there was a sign outside a storefront building, proclaiming it to be the "Happy VD Clinic." No joke. I also noticed that there was somewhere on the outskirts the "Happy Leper Colony." Also no joke. Yes, it's been over a half century since I was there, and I'm glad to see that Taiwan is still a wonderful place to visit.

    • @calvinmassey3211
      @calvinmassey3211 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bud Savoie Buddy, it didn't embrace freedom of thought, action, and speech back in the 70s. In fact, it didn't embrace any liberal values until the '90s. Taiwan was acutally under the thumb of an authoritarian government that liked to bullshit its population and is the reason why we have this burden of China this and China that. The Taiwanese just want to be free to the Taiwanese and not have to deal with PRC or ROC bullshit

    You got all the urban amenities for sure. My favorite 24/7 massage and of course the food and night market. Not a fan of the scooters though. I would add some more nature stuff. The entire middle of the island are mountains and preserves so it's green and lush. I think Taiwan has one of the tallest mountain in the pacific Jade mountain. Of course with all those volcanic/seismic activities, there are tons of hot spring spots. Another thing you missed is that Taiwan is an island so you can get to the ocean from anywhere on the island in about a hour.
    Nicely done guys.

      It's pretty easy to get around in Taipei without Chinese as long as you are brave enough to not know what you're eating, and able to just keep smiling :) In other parts of Taiwan it's a little harder, but still doable. There are always younger people who are interested in language exchange and will show you around! (oh, and there are quite a few foreigners who live in Taiwan who are pretty nice too haha)

    • @HaloHunter2552
      @HaloHunter2552 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You seem to be Asian, so I assume you know this, but just as a "just in case/maybe" let you know thing, Taiwan still is pretty traditional, and Asian girls get very touchy without being lesbians.

    • @TofuSenshi
      @TofuSenshi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a little different. If you've been there, you've probably noticed what I'm talking about. Plus, Taiwan holds Asia's largest gay pride (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Pride)

    • @TofuSenshi
      @TofuSenshi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Also to add: According to the National Union of Taiwan Women’s Association, 75% of adults believe that homosexual relations are okay. That's more than you'd get in Los Angeles or NYC, probably... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Taiwan

      Dude, I totally understand. Just like I hate the totally in your face straight couples. Guys kissing up on girls and holding hands... sick stuff! ((Sarcasm))

      HaloHunter2552 I'm just going to write you off as a troll. You brought up public affection. You also don't see that news helps save the lives of thousands of kids who commit suicide because they are not accepted for being gay.
      Yes, I do claim tolerance, but I am not going to accept someone being intolerant of anyone for any reason. I do have a lot of opinions about a lot of issues, but I am tolerant until people put others down for any reason.

      Kim Kerry isn't that strange though? The Japanese occupied Taiwan after the first Sino-Japanese war, so many older people still know Japanese. However, isn't it also true that many of KMT veterans fled to Taiwan after the fall of the Republic of China? These KMT veterans should absolutely despise the Japanese, right?
