**using a 22LR for self-defense is stupid and reckless.
**And one man said that more people were killed with a 22 LR than any other weapon, he was wrong more people are assassinated with a 22 LR.
**But if you think of 22 LR is going to stop some meth head or psycho unless you dump like a dozen rounds in them.
**Average hit ratio of good trained police officers are about 50% which means 50% of your ammo has a chance of hitting some innocent bystander which is not psycho and which is not meth head, or adrenaline charged or some other mitigating factor, and it does have a chance of killing them.
**Name me one police organization that issues a 22 LR pistol for self-defense. In spite of the cost savings that that would be, and bureaucrats are all about cost saving.
**Name me one military unit that uses it when it's gun fight time, (yes they may use the silent suppress 22 LR for a sentry removal) but when it's gunfight time it's back to the serious weapons.

Subsequently, Ruget has been much more innovative and completely changed the concealed carry market with the LCP and the LCR. You can argue that the LCP was a copy of the Keltec but Ruger made the darm things correctly and dependable and at only 10.5 ounces that was something. The LCR completely re-imagined the J-frame and the trigger is so light and smooth it's like a Custom Shop S&W trigger. Bill was NOT a friend of the 2A. Let's not forget all his shortcommings and only remember the good, like the single action Rugers and the old Security Six, etc... Bill was a mixed bag at best.

My worst .22lr pistol is a Walther P22. I bought one for me and one for my daughter many years ago.
My daughter's pistol had just about every possible malfunction you could think of and some that are pretty rare:
    Failure to feed.
    Failure to extract.
The magazine dropping out upon firing the gun (yes, it was fully seated).
Upon firing the safety would move out of the fire position.
It was sent back for repair three times.
S&W changed some parts out the first time and blamed the ammunition suggesting that we use CCI ammo.
The second time they change some more parts out (by the third time about the only parts the hadn't change out was the frame , slide, and barrel.
The third time I sent the gun in along with a spread sheet where I had fired about 8 different brands of ammunition.
I labeled the rows on the spread sheet 1-50 and indicated the malfunction on each row.
Every brand of ammunition resulted in multiple malfunctions per 50 rounds fired.

When I got my Kel-tec P3AT, which shoots 380ACP, the feeding ramp was fowling up after about 20 rounds and would cause jams. So I've polished the ramp. I did it by using a Dremel with a hard wool cone shaped polishing bit and liquid diamond dust polisher.

I made sure it was cleaned before I took it to a private range and had problems similar to yours. The range master took it back to his bench then ran a couple of magazines with no problems. He said it needed to be lubed and he used Lubriplate, and told me to not use oil. I have never had problems since.

Had the same issue, in the the Ruger Max .380mm. I ended up manually racking about 100 rounds through it and it cleaned it up, and now runs great. I was shooting round nose and also flat nose, but no matter what i put in it, it would either not feed or it would fail to return to battery. Like I said tho, once i manually racked about 100 rounds or so through it, it cleared up and has run perfectly for me. I will admit, this is the one gun I do regret on some level for buying this, but as long as it continues to fire, I can only hope it continues to fire as it should. I will also add the .380mm is painfully snappy. I'm not to the point of carrying it for self defense yet, but it has operated flawlessly. Also, Ruger, for me anyways, has always provided superior assistance.

Walther p22 did a ton of polishing and removing material off the hammer to get it to run better. Still have stove pipe and not close all the way forward on the next round .I have tried 6 different ammo brands including mini mags. I have the Browning 1911 22 which shoots great but the sights are horrible non adjustable on the elevation so shooting 10 inches low at 15 yards. The best 22 auto I have shot is the Ruger 22/45 target.

    • @modeltees-tn5kf
      @modeltees-tn5kf 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

If it's shooting on center, file down the front sight, a little at a time.
10" low at 15 yards is going to take a little work.
Otherwise, place the top of the front sight slightly above the target and see where you are. That'll give you a clue as to how much filing you've gotta' do.
Keep in mind, if you're shooting downhill, it's going low, uphill's going to go high.
For this reason, keep the barrel, in relation to the target, as level as possible while making any adjustment to sights.

Using trash ammo and complaining about a 22lr pocket handgun not running properly is pretty comical. Use some minimags or some other high quality defense ammo and see how it runs. 22lr handguns are notoriously finicky and only tend to work well with particularly high quality, high velocity ammo. Yes, some 22lr handguns are less finicky, like my tx22 which is full size and will eat almost anything, but that's the exception and not the rule. After running about 200 rounds of CCI minimags or something similar, you'll have a much better understanding of whether it's the gun or ammo that's the main problem.

Do not feel l, Dumb. Very good information. I have had many 22 long rifle pistols. Some are very picky and different chamber tolerances. This causes the chamber to fowl after several rounds and the carbon holds onto the spent case reducing the blow back operation. This ejects the casing but the slide does not go back far enough to catch the next round and slide it forward into the chamber. Acting like the slide is open after the last round. Rejoice. The bright side, I cleaned the chamber with a bronze brush and it works again until again Fowler with carbon. Rejoice again. It gives one a chance to learn to correct a malfunction and get a weapon back into the fight. Great training experience. Happens with many .22 I had and sold.

Semiauto 22 handguns are picky about the ammo often. Try all sorts of ammo in various velocities. I suspect a higher velocity load just might be the charm. Of all the ammo types out there, 22LR is the most diverse in velocity. Also, like in rifles, each gun loves what it loves for ammo. Once you find what it loves, get a 1000 rounds or more and call it good.

I'd say that it's likely either the ammo that's being finicky or maybe it hasn't been broken in yet. I have many handguns, the bodyguard WAS one of them. Heavy trigger, low capacity, weighs more than better choices. Funny you like it. The LCP max is the best imo. Now, why oh why would you even consider a 22, let alone in a semi-auto. A total waste of time. You are going out of your way looking for an under powered, rim fired gun far more likely to offer you trouble. Even if it ran perfectly, the cartridge itself is less reliable. Unless you need one of every gun in your collection, just dump it. What's the point, you aren't recoil sensitive... so why?

I got the first version of the LCP that came out. Not sure of differences between it and later ones. However, I did notice that the hammer actually stays in a half cocked position after chambering a round and between shots. Hammer supposedly cannot accidentally fall from that position. Some automatics can be ammo sensitive too. Always good to put about a hundred rounds through brand new automatics, kind of helps with break-in, although, I've had automatics that ran flawlessly from day one.

In most cases (no pun intended), the rim of a cartridge can get caught on the cartridge under it. It may be important that when loading the magazine, that attention is paid to how the cartridges are stacked - the back rim of the top cartridge should be before the front of the rim on the cartridge below it, such that each cartridge rim is staggered, so to speak.
If not properly indexed, the top round will try to drag the round below it forward, which may cause the top round not to be released from the magazine properly to feed.

But, I wanted to be sure no one saw anything so I brought an Sig Sauer P365 9mm. It’s extremely small and hides very well. Plus it shoots 9mm which won’t piss the bad guy off if I ever have to use it. And, you don’t have to worry about it jamming or failing to feed. I bought one. It ran good for around 200 rounds then the trigger broke. Sent it back. They said they replaced the safety. Got it back within a week. Pulled it out of the box and the trigger was still broken. Sent it back again. The have sent me a new replacement lcp2 22lr. Haven't took it to the range yet. Might just trade it.
