- Hi guys welcome back! In today's video, we reacted to a special, PayPal request sent to us. It is the second time that we react to Alice In Chains, and although this beat was a bit more upbeat than the last one we heard, we still found the song to be overall slow. Not really what we enjoy, but it was still interesting. Also the animals were cute! LOL! Thank you for this request!

One of my all time favorite bands. There are so many good ones but some of my favorites are I Stay Away, Don't Follow, Them Bones, Heaven Besides You, and No Excuses.

The slow heavy rock is kinda just what grunge was like. The dirty guitar riffs and yelling. Takes me back to high school.

Judging from your favourite part of the song which was the solo, I'm guessing what you mean by "we need more from the band" is you need more technicality and prog. But Alice in chains are not a metal band so you won't get that kind of songwriting. Their song them bones is the closest they got to metal, so maybe check that out?

my favourite song is Down In A Hole (MTV Unplugged version). Would?, Nutshell, and Rooster. the Singer Layne Stanley passed away in 2002.

Great reaction ladies! Yeah, AIC is one of those original grunge bands that laid the hair metal era from the 80’s to rest along with Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. Add a little STP and Korn in there and that’s the beginning of the 90’s music era. I grew up with it and was a huge Metallica fan and loved seeing this music genre form!
Where is this great reaction? She didin’t understand the song, laughting every time, complety desrespect with one of the most sad songs, and complaning the time of the song. Are You def and blind?
@Lene Gois I dunno, I’ve been watching theses ladies for awhile now and I just know they don’t mean disrespect. They’ve def educated themselves in the rock genre over time, so I didn’t take any offense to they’re reaction and just think it wasn’t they fav song or type of song they were expecting.

AIC most popular song is Rooster. You already listened to this song and Would, so my fav AIC song is Down in a Hole, however it’s not gonna be the heavy fast progressive sound you want. Honestly AIC is prob not that.

I get that some people are just really into guitar but it's ridiculous to me that a voice like Layne's could be lost on anyone.
This and SABOTAGE by The Beastie Boys, are two of my fav '90's non grunge songs to scream with.
The meaning of the song is about censorship. That’s why the guys eyes are sown shut.

Not gonna judge you ladies for not actually enjoying this song so much by first sight. When I first came to discover Alice in Chains, I went to this song, cause it had the most views. I actually thought "yeah, it's pretty average, nothing spectacular". But I gotta tell you.. the more you listen to Alice in Chains, the better it gets. I just added this song and Would in my playlist, and when I realized, I was really rocking with the chorus of these songs. Just suddenly I was singing "jeeeeeeesus chriiiiist" along with Layne and thinking "damn, this man DOES sing and this song is really, really good".
What I want to say with all this jibber jabber: give a chance to Alice in Chains and you will see how great this band is. I did that and it's now my favorite band :)

Coming from the 70s and 80s metal and hard rock bands, I had a hard time with the change in music in the 90s, so I get what you girls mean.

Comprendo que ustedes son muchachas jóvenes y que reaccionan por primera vez a una canción o banda de antes que nacieran, pero como para mi fue la música con que fui a la universidad, tengo la necesidad de decirles que Alice in Chains es una de las bandas de Grunge más grandes de la historia, y si bien el pequeño solo de Jerry Cantrell es delicioso, durante toda la canción la voz de Layne Staley resuena, y no de cualquier manera, su forma de cantar es única e irrepetible.
En primer lugar, crees que si escribís en español te darán bola? No creo. En segundo, crees que saben algo de música? Les gustó más el solo que toda la performance vocal de Layne, eso te dice todo. Valoran la musicalidad en cuál bailable es, ni te gastes en pretender que entiendan lo que escuchan
@@kyrkematias Ellas saben español, o por lo menos lo entienden muy bien, en otros vídeos han hablado alguna cosas en español y por su acento se nota que tienen raíces venezolanas, y la verdad mi comentario aunque va dirigido a ellas, es más bien para que otros que me lean, y que no conozcan la banda, no se vayan a dejar influenciar por una reacción que solamente valora un pequeñísimo solo de guitarra. Y sobre todo porque Alice in Chains merece mucho más que ésta triste reacción, de los mejores exponentes del Grunge noventero.

the reason no one else can do his high/scream note here is because its extremely dangerous even for trained singers. Throat hernia and torn vocal chords will be the outcome if anyone without a genetically gifted throat/voice box tries this. Possibly the most gifted singer of all time i think

AiC is about emotions, not technicality. I'd suggest you Again, Angry chair, We Die Young, Them Bones and Dam That River. You can't pick only one song from them... Even there, a lot of fan would tell you "Rooster", but I wouldn't... Others would answer "Would?"... Eh ! Not my favorites. My four suggestions are probably the most "upbeats" song from them. Still, my favorites are : Again, Angry Chair, We Die Young, Shame In You, Brush Away, Nutshell, Sludge Factory, Heaven Beside You, Hate To Feel and Down In A Hole. Anyway... Talk to me tomorrow, I'd choose others :P

Great reaction, guys! Yea, like a couple of other people mention already, AIC aren't a metal band, so you're not going to get intricate guitar riffs and crazy solos like Metallica and Iron Maiden will give you. They're a groovy grunge band with iconic songs that will live on forever. Try to listen to it for what it is. Rock and metal are made up of many different sub-genres. Each one is different and has a different sound. While AIC are legendary, it's possible that they just may not be for you. It happens. There are a ton people that don't like Metallica. Sure, I pity them, but they're entitled to their opinion.
Everyone says Rooster so I’ll suggest it as well, but a live version. Glasgow 1993 is a great version of Rooster 🔥🤘🏽

Grunge especially in 1990 when this song and video came out wasn’t meant to be upbeat ! It was meant to be gloomy that’s what Grunge from Seattle was all about ! It was for folks that was tired of power ballads so Grunge was much needed I remember it well in 1990 I was 18 and Alice In Chains and other grunge bands was a breath of fresh air ! Music today can’t compare to the music from the 80s and 90s !

If you didn't enjoy the vocals on this and Would and the slow but heavy style of AIC then you won't like any of their songs. You seem to like faster songs so i suggest you try out some more thrash metal. Check out Overkill - E.vil N.ever D.ies and Testament - Over the Wall.
