You can visibly see the difference between 3-5 minutes ingame of this build. Ahri may not work as a full AD but her Hybrid or partial Vamp Build is always standart currently, and the best choice so far. She only needs a few AP items, sustain and movespeed to make a difference and show her real potential. There are many items and build-paths, similar to Teemo or Ezreal.

Ahri's AP%scale nerfed 2012 Jan - 2015 after Patch 5.14
Nerf and Remake/Removal of Abyssal Scepter, Hextech Gunblade,Protobelt, LichBane&Morellos nerfs
Permanently nerfed AP Ahri since January of 2012 and 2015 Ekko Patch after Ludens was nerfed 3 weeks later of It's release.
There are multiple, and many Ahri's builds, runes and different combos/playstyles, but AP as a main core build will never return again If Riot doesn't buff her AP%Scale considerably.
