Three tips: 1) when vac tubing travels thru a floor install a foot long piece of 2" EMT tubing. I had to go thru a 2 by 3" stud over two walls and was unable to use much thicker rigid conduit, in the basement where a vertical tube drops down install a Y fitting and go down at least 6" and tape NOT GLUE a cap on it. I have one in middle of basement and another one in garage close to central vac motor. At some point drill & tap a pipe thread to install a valve & a vacuum guage. I marked my guage when the filter was new & clean. Couple of times my kids sucked down halve a crayon , tooth picks and marbles retrieved them by removing tape in end caps. If you don't have pipe tap purchase two 1 2" sealing locknuts and drill a little over 3/4" hope in end cap then install a sealing locknuts on both sides if a 1/2" pipe hippie then silicone both locknuts to prevent vacuum leak. Depending on pipe size on vacuum guage you might have to purchase a 1 / 2" to a 3/8 or 1/4" reducing coulpling.

The hole size 2/12” in 2x4 in the attic is miss leading, because it’s very difficult if not impossible to get the tight 90° elbow through the hole, I had to widen the hole in order to get the tight 90° through, now going into a wider hole such as 3 inches or 3 1/2 will weaken the structure of the 2 x 4” I have in the attic. It’s not clear if the studs in the attic in the video are 2x6” or not!. Thanks

is there a need to centralize the unit to get the best overall suction?

Thank you for your question on the central vacuum systems. Centralizing the location would be more for location of the inlets and ease of use, than it would be for overall suction. Please contact our Technical Support team with further questions at 800-637-1453.

9:25 ----- Um... What are you guys doing? You are coming off the bottom of a tee with an outlet after specifically telling consumers to not come off the bottom of a tee when connecting branch lines?

I have never had a central vacuum system and was wondering where the 36-foot hose is stored? I did not see the info in your video for installation. Is it something that is lugged from room to room? Or are there multiple 36-foot hoses that are stored in a wall cubby in each room?

Usually one hose but some people buy extra hoses for each floor or room depending on your house so yeah you just lug the hose around

For my basement I used a water hose holder that bolts onto wall. Store the second hose under a bed. They did supply a thin flimsy what looked liked an oversized coat hanger that I screwded onto the inside of a bedroom closet door but didn't like it.

This is bad. Like really bad. Like have you read your own install manual?
