Fantastic, super informative! Moved into a house with one of the vacusweeps that was cracked and failing. This video set me up with the knowledge I needed to fix it myself. Thank you for sharing!

Very nicely done. Reminds me of what Einstein once said about teaching: "If you can't explain it simply, you don't know it well enough." Thank you for a great (and simple) explanation

Thank you for the technically thorough feedback. I am currently getting it installed in a brick construction home and have only 1 can sweep in the kitchen (in a toe kick) and was regretting not getting more can sweeps elsewhere but thanks to your comment that installing in walls (and mine are all brick!) is not the best idea. Relief 🙏👍

Thank you! Your videos are very informative and comprehensive. I am new to central vac systems and you are giving me the confidence to use your presentations to source and install one myself.

We installed a central vacuum system in 2015 and LOVE it. I don't know why central vacuums are not in most houses in the USA.
One of our Vac Pans is having difficulty with its low voltage electrical contact. As you mention, it is darned near impossible to service that contact switch without an access panel. Since I installed the system, I know this Vac Pan is directly attached to a vertical flexible pipe (the black one you showed) with some up-and-down play purposefully built into it, anticipating I might need to service it one day. Since there is a stainless steel trim panel on the front, I am thinking about cutting a notch in the front plastic so I can possibly leverage the flexible pipe from the Vac Pan. Then, I can slide the Vac Pan out of the wall.
Does anyone have a better idea? And I definitely know I can cut an opening in the drywall, so that is my last resort.

You rule. I am currently installing and didn't know how to evaluate one kick plate inlet vs another. I also gave up on 2x4 wall for my vacpans till you pointed out drywall and baseboard = the right depth.

What's your opinion on the Vacpan II? If I were to install a central vac in my house, I'd probably would want to have a auto-dustpan, but I don't think I'd be able to install a conventional one in a simple manner. However, I think with where I decided an inlet would go on my first floor, a Vacpan II would do the job just fine. However, I've seen little to no reviews on it, so I have not much of a clue on their quality, so I'd love to hear your expert opinion!

Can a hose inlet be converted to a sweep inlet fairly easily? I own an older Beam, we have wood floors in on area of our house and a sweep inlet would be far more convenient.

How loud would a vacpan be if it used on a high performanced power unit and it was one of the closest inlet to the power unit.

Great video but every time you picked up those pans and set them back down it was sooooo loud. Great info though. I will be getting one of these

How can I service my inlet? I suspect something is clogging it. It's the kind with the piping coming from the top. I can't pull the unit out and can't see any easy access to it other than maybe removing the cupboard boards.
