I go to the shows quite a bit when they make it to Calgary, to this day Canadian Stampede is still the best wrestling show I ever saw live. Being in that crowd was an experience I'll never forget.
WOW I was at that flag match in Halifax. I was 8 years old and totally obsessed with Bret and the Hart Foundation. So cool he remember and shouted out Halifax. We love you on the East Coast Bret! Best there’ll ever be.
💪 everything Bret ever did! Was able to see him wrestle in Massachusetts a few times.. was always about the fans... he proved everything through his wrestling 💯 %! Could listen to Bret drop stories 24/7/365 and twice on Sundays 😅
July 1997 - Canadian Stampede and it brought full circle to Stampede Wrestling. August 1997 - Summerslam with Owen Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin for the Intercontinental Championship at the Meadowlands arena at Secaucus, NJ and the rest they say is history. October 1997 - Brian Pillman's untimely passing. November 1997 - Bret Hart's final match in WWF.
It was super obvious when they pulled the plug on the Hart Foundation - once HBK came back in the lead up to SummerSlam - Bret was basically a lame duck champion afterwards with Taker and HBK main eventing until Survivor Series.
Stop calling thst sad old bald man "HBK". It's just sad when grown ass auldts refer to hickenbottom by that god awful gimmick namel, considering he was already pushing 30 when he got the gimmick, hardly a kid by any means.
@@ValiantWrestling Bruh you sound like a hater. He’s not a kid anymore of course, but that is what he was known as at the height of the career. He will always be HBK.
As a Canadian, I loved this era of Bret. He was a hero around the world and a heel in the US because he told the truth and said what the vast majority of us were thinking about our southern neighbours. His promos in 1997 were fantastic.
America has always been rebellious. From the moment the Minutemen grabbed a musket, to the moment Stone Cold yelled Austin 3:16. Steve Austin embodies the take-no-prisoners attitude that won two world wars, sent us to the moon, and revolutionized the world with a light bulb. We don’t care what the rest of the world thinks. We do it our way and to 🤬 with anyone who thinks otherwise. That’s why American wrestling fans love Stone Cold Steve Austin.
This was Bret's best character work he had ever done. The only thing remotely close was the Owen fued which would be better had Owen won at Summerslam. Had that fued not been predictable it might have been better than the Pro-Canada Bret.
Bret started the hell Vince McMahon character and he rarely gets credit due to everyone associating the character w only the villian to Stone Cold Steve Austin
I’ve been to monster truck shows and rock concerts at the Saddledome and never once felt the old building shake like it is when Bret came out at Canadian stampede
the air canada center exploded when he beat miz for the us belt at raw in toronto aswell, absolutely great moments in time... nothing beats your ppv that was such a great main event
@@NoneofYabiz-rx3zi Oh, they both had their problems selling tickets as champion. It just makes me laugh that all these years later, Bret just can't help himself.
Man, I love Brett and I love his matches, but he’ll find a way to pull the conversation around to all the negative shit that he thinks may have happened in WWE that somehow destroyed his career
I think he's just giving honest answers to the questions he's being asked. If you listen, he says plenty of positive things and a few negative things, which is the way life works.
I heard a story that one member of The Hart Foundation was guilty of rahype.. I tjink if its true its either British Bulkdog or Jim Neidhart. They def gave off Raypey vibes
So Bruce messes up and caused what happened but before telling the story he says Shawn and H put the breaks on it. Sounds like Bruce did it to himself by missing his cue and then following it up with injuring the company's rising star
@@Bernicia295 did i say he need to be positive all the time ?? NO he can only screw wwe and their stars, and all is so fucking bad in his eyes. He is a old bitter man.
I honestly wish that Bret just stopped doing interviews. All he does is whine and cry about the past. He thinks he’s wrestlings all time legend and he’s not. He was the $400,000 a year champ who believed he was actually a champion. Time to move on, Bret! Is Goldberg’s kick rattling your brain?
Well, nobody is forcing you to listen to his interviews. Just ignore them and let the rest of us enjoy them. And yes, Goldberg's kick is rattling his brain, actually. It's called having post-concussion syndrome and a stroke, which is a form of brain damage. Let's hope that doesn't happen to you.
So he has to pretend that Shawn and Triple H were lovely, wonderful people just to keep you happy? Maybe you're the one who needs to grow up and see that we don't live in a perfect world.
Bret's one of the most arrogant and bitter persons to walk the face of the Earth. It doesn't take away from what he accomplished, but he can't let anything go and constantly feels the need to tell people how much better he was than everyone else.
Is Bret the greatest in ring performer of all time? Let us know in the comments below!
Yes.
In the words of Daniel Bryan leading the Yes Movement, “Yes.”
Bret isn't the greatest in ring performer in his family.
Owen and Bret are the top 2 greatest in ring performers of all time imho... Hbk not even top 10
I got Jannetty at 15th and Hbk at 17th
@@VelvetMetrolink😂😂😂
You can see the happiness on his face as he remembers the good old days
It seems like he's SLOWLY letting go of all that bitterness.
@hansjuker8296 that's just temporarily for a few seconds he's always going to be Bret Bitter Hart
10:40 the amount of heat that Austin would have got if he threw a drink on Stew would have been epic.

..i live in New Zealand and watched the vhs tape and totally agree with you
remember watching canadian stampede live too many legends and a great atmosphere
I will always remember Ed Whalen reading my letter in the weekly review show on TSN
many different promotions.
*stampede.
80% unfortunately gone!

They were in Sydney the day before too. It was the last show they had in Cape Breton.
Heel Bret was great. He had strong charisma with that.

97 was the curse Year
its meadowlands arena not convention center and brets last match was in 2010
In kayfabe Austin went too far , I know it was scripted
Vince never respected Bruce for trying to cheat him out of the Stampede deal
Bruce being Bruce
Bret: Shawn and Hunter probably cost Bruce a future job.
Bret: Here are the ten mistakes Bruce made that cost him his future job.
ha ha ha.....This seems like a good spot for the "why not both" gif
its wild how good his memory still is. and you 100% believe it.
And he had a stroke too . Not sure if this before or after that
"My brother Bruce who knows nothing" 🎵Hitman Music🎵
Typical Bruce
Tried to agent the match with Bret vs Vince too

Patriotic pro wrestling fans are radical. Everyone else is just patriotic.
There’s nothing radical about being patriotic. It’s natural.

Bruce was his own worst enemy. But he was also 47 at that time and hadn't wrestled full time in over 6 years.
The Stampede in your house was the biggest show I had the luck to watch.
Anyone know where I can find a Bret Hart WORK interview where he talks about being a hitman for the Canadian mob?
Time passes, but the memories last forever.

I love Bret but he’s giving HHH way too much credit for thinking he had the influence he thinks he had in 1997
Sliding that shot in about Shawn tanking the ratings...
While that is true, house show business was actually slightly better under Shawn than Bret

Lol like he was so much better. I like Bret, but he’s high on his own sh*t often.
Triple H should not be involved in the writing process lol.
Goldberg must have been part of the WWF writing team.

Bret suggested Owen when the office pitched Bruce in 94, but now it's Shawn and Hunter's issue in 97?
Brett was right
Wcw was getting stale and WWF was taking off during this time
The Nwo had probably its 50th member aoround this time
i remember the time Bret hart surrendered to Lex Luger with a half boston crab, Bret gave up, WCW made him a weak pathetic bum.

You're right, he isn't even close to being that.
