Hi Lisa, Another terrific topic! I did follow your Show Notes and made my own notes as well! You have so many great tips and information on all your episodes. You touch on so many terrific genealogy areas. I just love all your research you do before an episode is aired. Thank you so much for all your hours and hours of preparation work. I enjoyed this episode as always even if it is four months later. And that is the beauty of being a member of Genealogy Gems, you can go back and re-listen to any of the episodes you have listed! :-)

Hi Lisa, I decided to re-watch for the second time, this morning, your podcast of Newspaper Navigator! I noticed which I must have missed the other times, you are wearing a really nice necklace of maybe, one of your grandmothers. What a lovely way to feel connected with your ancestors! And the larger picture is behind you. Are there any tips you could pass on about "how to"! I think I know how to take a photo and crop it and find a bezel necklace not doing anything and make a necklace. But I would love to hear what you might suggest! Thank you again for all your valuable information. You make my day watching or re-watching your podcasts with your happy smile and positive broadcasting!

HI Sandi, That necklace is one I bought that opens and you're supposed to put birthday gemstones in it. What I did was resize my Grandma's photo in Microsoft Publisher, printed it out (heavier paper works nicely), placed the necklace over it, drew a circle and cut it out. I trimmed it down just a bit and placed it in the necklace instead. The other side is my grandsons. I particularly like this necklace because it's clear glass on both sides (allowing for 2 difference photos) and trimmed in rhinestones ;-) Have fun!

I do have a question. I am fortunate that some of my relatives lived in a very rural area...so much that the local paper seems to report every detail of their life....things like going to another persons home for dinner, every school play or concert...taking a drive to another town...etc. One relative is mentioned over 1000 times in a 30 year span. How important is it to download and chronicle every single newspaper entry for those relatives? It is the Albion Argus from Nebraska. I do enjoy all your youtube videos! Not a fan of podcasts since I am hearing-impaired though.

I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the show! It's wonderful how TH-cam makes closed captioning available. As for the newspapers, it's totally your preference. I download and document every item - I can't help myself :-) However, if you don't want to save each article as an individual file on your computer, I do have another idea. Since I would guess you are going to open and review each article anyway, use a screen clipper (Evernote, Snagit, or Windows key + Shift + S on a PC) and grab a clip and paste it into one document or note. Grab each one in chronological order and paste them into the doc. It doesn't take a lot of space and gives you one long running narrative on that person's activities. One file instead of thousands. That would make a fun and unique future read.
