    Very important if you want to get the most out of this monitor, so please upvote for visibility.
    Pcmonitors tested this monitor on 21.12.2022. They mention their RGB settings 46-50-44 and mine were basically the same, only "1" difference for one color, so it should work fine for just everyone. They also included an ICC profile for download in their review. For whoever already has this monitor, I actually recommend not applying an ICC profile because they don't work in most of the time, especially in games, but it could be helpful for applying an sRGB clamp (emulation) that pcmonitors have a short YT tutorial for in one of their videos. This clamp will not only tone down the excessive yellows and shades between green and yellow, but also help with response times for mentioned colors, causing far less yellow ghosting that in some content is visible for almost any VA monitor. sRGB gamma correction is great as well, especially for better separation of dark colors. I tested things only with the tool for NVIDIA, not sure if AMD drivers allow using an ICC profile or if EBIB primaries from this monitor will be recognized. With an Intel GPU, especially likely for office laptops and PCs, you are screwed with no doubt.
    If you didn't pull the trigger yet, there is now an even better 24" flat VA option out there, especially in terms of response time and sRGB coverage - AOC 25G3ZM. It also has adjustable height.

      @T4ish0 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@calvito-7 Get an AOC 25G3ZM if you want the best 1080p VA monitor currently on the market. The refresh rate of 119.880 Hz is optimal. Can't beat its response times, especially there is no colorful ghosting apart from a little lemon ghosting of white text on black/dark grey background. It can be further reduced by setting color gamut to sRGB with novideo_srgb or AMD Color Tweaks tools. I use it since 4 months and this monitor finally gave me peace and will be my last monitor before I switch to 4K (1440p can be unusable due to scaling problems, especially fonts - at least it was for me).

    • @bobtx
      @bobtx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@T4ish0 Hey, I've seen your posts in the search of a decent VA, gz on finding a suitable one. I tried the 25G3ZM too, I felt like it had a bit of higher input lag that was noticeable for me in shooters with fast snappy mouse movements so I ended up just returning it. Unfortunately I didn't test at 120hz, maybe would have felt different since pixel transitions would atleast comply better with longer refresh cycles. Also did SRGB clamp but stuggled to find sweet spot with brightness, had it at around 20 i think but the bright whites caused me discomfort in the evening. What settings do you use?
      Also if it's not too bothersome and you happen to have polarized lenses at hand, like some polarized sunglasses, could you check how the 25G3ZM is polarized? I didn't check this but I feel like maybe differently polarized screen affected my viewing comfort.

    • @T4ish0
      @T4ish0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference between 120 and 240Hz is fairly noticeable, however for a sensitive person playing fast shooters or racing games, an IPS panel could still be a better solution if the tradeoffs are acceptable. Personally, I found a noticeable difference even between 144Hz and 120Hz in limited scenarios. Mostly related to black smearing and the lemon hue of white fonts when scrolling some dark-themed websites.
      I'm using the brightness level 5/100, the measured brightness is 88 nits. I try to keep the light level relatively low in my room to match this conservative monitor's brightness. The sRGB clamp and adjusting the gamma curve to match the sRGB target also help. The intended 2.2 gamma setting was in my case a measured 2.05, so much brighter than it should be. Gamma calibration also helped a lot to separate shades of dark grey, which is very nice for dark scenes in movies or nights/dungeons in games. I use Windows 10 night light at 5 to make the display usable without any external lightning, sometimes turning it off for long TV series nights. Anything more will introduce too much ghosting, especially the lemon one for white text.

    Notice that, although it is an LG branded monitor, it is an AUoptronics panel, so dead pixel is more common on those. 2nd, one dead pixel is not covered under the warranty terms and does not allow you to exchange the monitor, usually it has to be a couple of dead pixels to warrant a replacement, read the small letters in the manufacturer warranty conditions clarifying what is considered replaceable under warranty and what is not.

    For those who does not know how to have better performance (remove motion blueness) this is the way : It is indeed a VA panel, VA panels does have aprox. 5ms not 1. This monitor has the ability to change in 1 (not even close to 1 2-3) that means it will have motion blur and maybe a ghosting (it depends even more in the response time [chose faster RT]) . Thank me later. So play with more MS and do not even thing to judge a VA monitor! Perfect price for a perfect monitor. Thank you again LG, and thank me later!

  • @vomaufgang
    @vomaufgang 2 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    You seem to be very hung up on the "low" maximum brightness. I disagree on this point. Unless you're putting your monitor right in front of a bright window, you should never run it at any high brightness, ever. It leads to eye fatigue and can contribute to headaches and migraines.
    200 nits is already too much for most, with 120 to 140 nits being more realistic for comfortable long term use.
    250 nits peaks brightness is *fine*.
    Also, a contrast of 3000:1 leads to really dark blacks considering it's 3000:1 down from 250 nits. With a comparable IPS at 250 nits and 800:1 contrast, as most LG IPS monitors have, you don't get black. Ever. You get dark grey at best.

    • @Version-ru1mj
      @Version-ru1mj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe, he was trying to refer to HDR, but he also mentioned it does not have HDR. So, I didn't understand his problem with brightness either. I am always on 125 nits. That's the best for my eyes. But a lot of things depends on it. Light, day/night, etc. I think it's a great monitor though. Seeing how the 27inch version held up. 5150:1 contrast ratio and 6.1ms response time. I think it's one of the best bang for the buck in my life. I will recieve it on Tuesday.

    • @GaijinMo
      @GaijinMo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm using a now-discontinued LG 24MP59G-P IPS monitor circa 2019. The blacks are not adequate in a dark room. Do you think the VA monitor in this video would be a worthwhile sidegrade? I'm OK with what I have now except for the blacks and minor IPS glow. I keep the brightness between 0% and 15%.

    • @Version-ru1mj
      @Version-ru1mj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GaijinMo I think it would be definitely a huge upgrade for you. 5150:1 contrast ratio, 6.1ms response time. Beautiful blacks. No ghosting, dark smearing and overshoot. I am very very happy with this lg 24gq50f-b. I ordered another one as well.

    • @GaijinMo
      @GaijinMo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Version-ru1mj FWIW, I did buy the 24GQ50F-B and returned it. The maximum black was darker than the 24MP59G-P, but just barely, and not in a way that added detail. I wasn't expecting OLED blacks, but I thought there would be more of a difference. There was also a lot of pixel walk and flickering in Lagom tests. The UFO test showed more jittery motion than the IPS model. The screen does wobble less due to a sturdier stand-to-panel connection, which seems to be one improvement. If I didn't have a monitor with the same form factor, I would've kept the 24QC50F-B, but it seemed like every advantage came with a drawback.

    • @Version-ru1mj
      @Version-ru1mj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GaijinMoSo let's begin... About the blacks, did you change the black stabilizer from the stock settings which was 50? I've talked to many peope about this who owns the monitor. You should've decreased it to 25-30. Beautiful blacks my man, beautiful. It's actually OLED close blacks if not it is. (I've got a OLED TV). The flickerng, pixel walk sounds interesting. That did not happyn with my unit and I use it daily for gaming and software development. Maybe a faulty unit? I use it on fast settings with 165hz and playing Valorant, CS:GO, etc... No problem at all. On faster settings, I've seen some smearing / overshoot. That's why I've put it back to fast and problem solved. No overshoot or smearing.

      @@TheInvoker78 Within European Union, this monitor is available only in some Greek stores. One of them called "eurosupplies" has international delivery and a relatively cheap price of 162 euros VAT included. Unfortunately, shipment to Poland is outrageous 53 euros, so if I need to return it (14-day return according to EU law), I lose over 100 euros. Shipment to Italy is 64 euros! They have "IPS" in the product name btw, but it's 100% the same model. I asked Polish LG customer service and they have no plans to make it available in my country. I will probably wait a couple of weeks for better options, hopefully, availability in Germany, before I'm so desperate.

      After 30 days of shipping adventure from Greece to Poland, I finally got my LG 24GQ50F-B. It was returned to the seller from North Macedonia due to some label problems. Despite the claimed 53 euros shipping, it was "only" 40 at checkout, 200 euros total. No dead pixels. First thing - turn off energy saving mode, it dims the screen when scrolling and brightens it up right after, so annoying! The second thing - the 'Black stabilizer' should remain at 50. Any other setting will make all dark shades look the same. Third - limit the refresh rate to 120Hz. The reduction in ghosting from 144Hz to 120Hz is MASSIVE! The "Fast" overdrive setting seems to perform best. "Fastest" WILL sometimes cause smearing that is absent on "Fast" and "Normal" because of overshoot, for example, Discord avatar icons. Only a few of the worst-case CPU radiator images caused visible ghosting when scrolling, but most of the radiator images were displayed without any flicker at all, which positively surprised me. In videos, where there is slow panning instead of fast scrolling, things are even easier for the monitor to handle. The best multi-purpose monitor ever.
