Free dental, free heat pumps , free, free, free. Nothing is ever "free", someone somewhere has to pay. If you believe it's free then good chance you believe it's possible that budgets balance themselves.

The cost of the program per year is in the title of this video. Nobody believes that this program is free for the government and nobody believes that the government can invent money out of nowhere. We live in a society and the government's role is to help Canadians. How? Through progressive taxation, we implement programs that will be beneficial for the low and middle income Canadians who do not have a private dental plan. I work for an insurance company, I have a good private dental plan, I also pay taxes and my net income is much lower than my gross. Will it benefit me? No. I could be like you and say : "Nothing is free, I don't want my taxes to pay for a program that will not benefit me". But I live in a society that has made the choice to redistribute some wealth and help the citizens that are struggling more than me in life. This program will help children (I don't have any child, why would I care about children???) having access to dental care and eventually all Canadians who do not already have a private coverage. I want my taxes to pay for that much more than anything else. And the federal government did not announce that the income tax rates would increase for the median income distribution. So it doesn't harm me financially and it helps millions of Canadians to afford an essential care. I do not know how we can oppose this program except for ideological reasons or because you only care about yourself and you don't give a f*ck about other people's well being.

Even my family doctor can't see you the day you need to see him. Can take at least a week which is terrible if you're really sick. Then you're expected to go to the hospital where you can wait hours and hours to be seen. In 2022 I went and was there for 18 torturous hours. If you're not dying you wait and wait and wait. People have been complaining about wait times for decades and now the wait times are a lot worse. Yes dental care is important. I have been saying for decades that it should be part of OHIP. @@coffeecake323 If this is your personal finance, would you consider taking on debts on your line of credit (if you're fortunate to have one) to get your teeth checked 'for free' and then mind the debt-servicing cost later? This new dental program involves borrowing more money to provide services to people in need (admittedly) at the expense of all taxpayers. FYI, the current interest expenses paid on the money this government borrowed are higher than the annual costs of the entire universal healthcare system. You can't spend your way through without worrying about any consequences.

Something that happened to me in the late 90 era was a massive abscess tooth infection, and my employer at the time was not proving dental care. In that emergency situation THEY DID HELP ME OUT, BUT i REQUIRED 2 ROUNDS OF VERY STRONG ANTIBIOTICS. Now I have multiple sclerosis, and began to feel weaker after this event. I see a direct connection. I can't prove anything of course, but wouldn't it be interesting to see if there was a correlation between poverty, diet and a lack of dental care and ms.Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world.

I, too, have MS, Yes it is a northern hemisphere prevelance. I also had several abscesses and never thought the two may have a correlation. Vitamin D is thought to be a factor. My MS has been in remission for 15 years. I am one of the lucky people ... or ... could it be the cannabis regimen I started. ?? I am not saying weed cured me, but it did make me not give a hoot about the MS. Good luck to you in beating MS. MS was also ,my secret from everyone, especially employers... while I was symptomatic I would slur my word or occasionally stumble, this on more than one occasion led to accusations of alchol abuse and firing. So it became "MS = my secret". My neighbor was diagnosed at the same time as I was... she continued to use alchol while I did not. She has since passed away from her MS. Take what you will from this story, or don't.
