I can't stop marveling at how the visuals match to the lyrics of the song. When Aeolus gently touches a flower and then suddenly plucks the petals off it and throws them away - it is such a good touch, because this is exactly what the wind would do. Unlike many other animatics where Aeolus just jumps around in the frame during the lines "Cause the end always justifies the means", in this animatic the visuals emphasize the lyric rather than blurring it. It fits perfectly with the foreshadowing of Aeolus' true nature, how she, having established the "don't open the sack" rule, will do anything to encourage Odysseus' crew to break that rule just for the fun of it. By visually emphasizing this the author has made the song twice as good, at least. Not to mention the unmatched design of Aeolus, who really does look like a goddess , Not like a clown on a cloud, but a real goddess woven from the wind. Plus, Aeolus' ominous and a little sinister appearance in the final scene of this animatic, her serene and smug face, makes it clear that she is not doing Odysseus a favor, she is, as befits a goddess, toying with him for no reason other than to amuse herself. After all, gods do not send blessings and they do not make contracts. In the end - they make only toys.

Both takes are really cool, and they don't compete with one another--they just offer different ways of exploring the song and character.

I also loved the shot where she destroyed the flower signifying that if he disobeys her instructions he’ll be destroyed as well as her ruthless nature. The whole thing was also just so smooth! In actual mythology yes, but in this musical the character is quite obviously a woman. My school made me learn Greek and Roman mythology for 4 years and Latin was the only language that they offered that we had to take. I know my myths from adaptation, thank you.

Aeolus is always called a god, not a goddess, but they have an extremely feminine voice and often a feminine design. You can interpret them however you want, which feels fitting for a being who introduces themselves as "the wind, twisting and turning".

Hell, there’s a myth of Zeus and hera asking a MORTAL who had been born a man, turned into a woman, and then back into a man, which gender enjoyed sex more.
