Oh my god this is fantastic , you are the best . You emphasize on memory that mean it is in no way ,not so smart people can play music. I have a great respect for pianist .
I've been playing by ear guitar, vibraphone and piano since i was 16yrs old. I'm 68 now. I realize now after so many years that I've been playing all the key structures even though I didn't realize i was doing that. I've been impatient with myself wanting to just play a song quickly. I have a feeling there are many out there that play by ear and haven't gotten this yet. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE the way you have grouped the scales. I’ve never seen this before and it makes total sense. I wish I could down load the fingering PDF. Im enjoying the tutorials.
This is very informative. The formula part makes sense as it is logical. Grouping scales also helps me learn them faster. Yes, learning smarter is better than learning hard. Thanks, Ashlee! 🎉
I also noticed that every scale has the same fingerings (it just takes a few notes to get there). Every scale has 123 1234 embedded in the pattern. Check it out.
thanks for the major scales fingering ....I am working thru those would good progress ....however do you have a PDF Minor Scale Fingerings chart like you do with Major Scale Fingerings chart...if so thanks
Good timing for this video. I am studying for ABRSM Grade 4, and at my lesson this morning, I really messed up my scales, even though I thought I knew them well. Please can you do a video for minor scales as well?
Nice video, I do have a question: Why is the fingering important? How will it contribute me? If I play a song, I will choose my fingering depending on the song and chords progression, not the scale.
Yes - true - but practicing scales and chords with the proper fingering allows, you to develop the proper technique required to then choose your own fingering… it’s kind of like never learning the basics of driving and then going straight to trying to be a race car driver… Yes, you wouldn’t need to turn signal when you’re driving a race car… But the foundations of learning how to drive would would be essential to eventually developing the skills necessary to drive a race car
How do you make your fingers to become faster and how do you count correctly. I love the way you describe everything. I just wish I had the money to join the group even discounted is not affordable for me Thanks Ashlee
Great video, but cannot get the Pdf hope you can help. Just seen you other video " How to practice scales so that you don't WASTE TIME" which I found to be very helpful and have just ordered the book you recommend in the video. This is a big subject but you explain it well Thank you
I sent you a message requesting a fingering chart (PDF) for all the minor scales ...providing you have a video...if not ...maybe you can suggest the best way for fingering the minor scales...thanks Ashlee
Hi. Great tips! just a note. your Group 2 list on this video shows B-flat ...but your verbal instruction is for B. I was writing this info down (thank you!), and noticed B-Flat on Group 2 and 3. Anyway ...

Hi Ashlee, I'm going through many youtube tutorial to find the best one for me. Why are your scales 15 notes compared to 8 with others please?
You can do scales of any length. Go 8 notes if you’re new to scales.
