- On this episode of The Evil Dungeon Master Universe Podcast, I decided to talk about a topic that often gets overlooked in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons-fatigue and exhaustion. Today I will be breaking down why these mechanics are more than just extra rules-they’re game-changers that add depth, realism, and real stakes to your adventures.
From how fatigue drains your characters' abilities to the chaos that unfolds when it’s ignored. Whether you’re a veteran Dungeon Master or just getting your feet wet, he’s got tips for making fatigue not just a rule, but a tool to crank up the immersion. Stick around, reflect on your own campaigns, and join the conversation-because the grind of adventuring should feel as gritty as it gets.

I am not sure why YT keeps taking videos I put up and making them unlisted suddenly.
Can you elaborate? It sounds like you published this as public, but later found it to be either still a saved draft, set as private, or view-with-link only. That's never happened to me, but I have far fewer vids up. It's really weird that you have 8k subs & only 15 views after 2 days.
@@jasonjacobson1157 yeah. I released it.. it got a few views and then when I looked at my dash, it showed the video as "unlisted". This happens every so often. No idea why. I had YT looking into it. They thought it was weird, because they noticed it went from public to unlisted by itself, but couldn't tell me why it happened.
It's been my understanding that rest breaks are baked into the game's movement rates.
I think is that way originally, but the Wilderness Survival Guide adds rules for movement over land and how far you can go. Its not something I've ever used, but I could see people using it.
@@TheEvilDM those rules already existed for AD&D long before the WSG. The 1983 World of Greyhawk box set gives outdoor movement rates for each terrain type. It also gives movement adjustments for inclement weather and even outdoor visibility rules.
@@jasonjacobson1157 thank you for that info, never used that boxset and I've never seen any DM (other then the one in my story) use those type of rules. SO now I am glad there is another source of info for it.
I have been working on my own game, it has some solo rules as well. I was looking at diseases in AD&d. When doing so I wondered about rabies and why the book I found didn't have it. After looking it up irl, I was reminded why it was so deadly in medieval times. Probably why they didn't add it.
@@Nolzei oh yeah brutal…
@TheEvilDM It makes me wonder how often a newbie dm made it up for their game and was like "oh yeah, you defeated the pack of rabid wolves but got fairly scratched up, maybe you got infected?", leading to a tpk from disease weeks later.
