- We are currently on a bicycle tour around the world. Our trip started in April 2017 and we have been cycling east ever since. We crossed the to the Pamir Highway in August and are currently in SE Asia. After completing this section of the trip we fly to Australia & NZ and finally the Americas. In these videos, we hope to show you what our life is like on the road.
In this episode we reach the Pamir highway. Leaving Dushanbe was a surreal experience, we were finally experiencing what we had seen in so many videos and blogs.
Both physically & mentally we knew we would be tested. However nothing could prepare us for the unbridled beauty of this region and the openness of its people.
We opted for the north road out of Dushanbe, as it promised stunning views. It definitely delivered on this even if the majority of the riding was on gravel roads.
The full 542km stretch took us deep into the mountains through the GBAO region of Tajikistan, alongside the Afghanistan border and up our first proper pass. The road often left us weary but also with a massive sense of achievement at the end of each day.
If you have any questions about this section of the trip please don't hesitate to ask!

What power supply did you use for electronics? Hub dynamos or solar cells?
Just power banks, we did not have any dynamos or solar panels but would definitely recommend them if you will not have access to electricity very often.
World on Two Wheels ok 😊 stay safe and thanks for sharing your adventures
I hope to ride there soon!
You have done a nice job on the scenery of all areas you traveled that I viewed. I do have one suggestion for you, which I think is essential to travel the natives and culture which I feel you are missing to present. Also the intro of the cyclist and names, unless they were mentioned in previous videos. Just a thought for you to ponder.
That's a really helpful comment. We have learnt so much along the way, especially about how to film the trip and make it more interesting for the viewers. You're right the scenery is nice and well shot but people want to see the actual experiences!
Thanks again :)
