I’ve been watching you every day before I homeschool my son as a reminder to 1.) make it fun and engaging, and 2.) for ME to learn something new every day that I can do to help him. Thank you so much for these videos! You’re amazing. 🤩
I homeschool as well and at the 5-6 year old age is tough teaching these words. I was doing the sounds all wrong until I watched these videos and so I changed my method and within a day my little one started picking up on the sounds! Best of luck to all of you homeschool moms and dads!!
This is priceless for a parent to watch. Especially the times when a child is not getting it correct. To watch the way you handle those is absolutely priceless. Thank you from my heart. You are an Angel ❤
I've just now discovered your videos and I find them absolutely amazing! You make the Science of Teaching Reading awesome and simple to do. Thank you so much!
I was terrified and terrible at reading as a kid, now as new mom I started teaching phonics as early as possible. Because of your videos and fantastic tips my 3.5 is crushing it with letter sounds and I’m going to keep it up so that hopefully she won’t feel the fear of reading that I experienced. Thank you, truly thank you!!!!
I love your content. As a homeschooling parent of a special needs kiddo we need more reading resources. One big thing that would be extremely helpful is to have each phonics sound available on youtube with each sound having its own video. That video teach the spelling of the sound, the sound, words it is in, how to spell those words, and the special rules for each sound.
MACMILLAN (The publishing/editing company) has a youtube channel, and they have each phonemic sound of English explained by one of the most respected professors of the field. You can find it looking by MacMillian+Vowel sounds. It doesn't have rules or words it goes with, but you can find that in some other places. Hope this helps!
Her confidence is flourishing. I'm so glad to have stumbled upon your videos. I'm excited to use these methods with my 3yo. She really pays attention when we watch the letter sound videos. Thank you. You're a gold mine!
I teach in Japan and this is very helpful even for teaching English as a second language. But I have 28 kids in my class. 😅 I will do it as an activity 😊 thank you ☺️
Thank you, how do you teach words like “some”. My daughter had to spell some and but spelt it as sum. So I guess what about words that don’t read phonetically please
I teach TEYL in English department. I think your video is very useful, so I will share this video to my students. Thank you so much for the knowledge that you share.
How do you help a 4th grader that still confuses sounds and gets frustrated with himself. He’s got great vocabulary, experiences and uses context to figure things out. Yet still behind level?
I have a doubt if I teach letter sound then how will they know the spelling of alphabet abcd... Or do I have to teach both letter sound and alphabet spelling.. Will that make them confused ?
Hello, a teacher in France suggested your work. I am English speaking expat living in France. My child goes to French school and I wanted to teach him English at home. He is 4. Do you think I can teach him English without confusing him. Will he get the sounds wrong when he learns French sounds and phonetics ? I am very exited to know more about your work.
One question is : where is the place of writing in your training...cant' it help to develop reading capability if we give it interest ....thanks so much teacher in advance❤❤❤
Hi Teacher , We are from Myanmar . We would like to learn phonic lessons from you . Could you please help my daughter to teach from online ? Where can we send mail and contact to you ? please kindly reply us . Thank you .
I see kids do it on their spelling test in my first grade class… I am glad their kindergarten teacher taught them because they actually pass their test
@@toddlerscanread, thanks greatly for the video, highly impactful, but please, this link is not openable, can you kindly check, others also have the same issue while reading through the comments.
My son learned sounds by 4 because I made him write the all letters everyday and say the sounds as he wrote them I have flashcards and we went of over 5-6 sounds a day then once i teach all of them I tested him with flashcards out of order and made a pile of what sounds he mastered vs the ones he need to work on ❤
I played letter sound songs in the car from TH-cam as well My son kept getting the W and U sound mixed up for weeks but those songs helped a lot as well It’s all about repetition not memorizing
I Think In My Opinion I Think You Should Buy Some Learning The Alphabet Flash Card’s And Buy Color’d Index Card’s Write Out Some Word’s to go with those Alphabet Letter’s by Sounding Out How They Spell then get a simple book to read and do the same thing start off by sounding out each letter by taking her time she can read short word’s so she or he can start reading a book if they good really really good they could have a Ice Cream Sundae or Peanut Butter Reese’s Cup’s

Well done 👏
Thank you so much for this❤
What do you think on tapping out the word? Using fingers only?
Tapping the sounds on the hand or arm can be helpful.
This is so good! How long do you recommend we spend each lesson? Don't want to burn my kid out, but also want the lesson to be productive
He said about 5 minutes a day
Awsome...!!

Look into the International phonetic Alphabet. It covers sounds in all languages.
Awesome!

What about what about the word eight?
Eight has 2 sounds: eigh is the long a sound, and "t" is the t sound. Another example: sleigh = s / l/ long a (eigh)

Just watched this with my seven year old. Sounds like it ignited her wanting to learn to read.
Hi is me
My baby will be 4years soon, when is he supposed to start reading
If a child is reading proficiently by 6 or first grade then you’re doing really good 👍🏾
If your child turns 4, he/she should know how to write and spell his/her name plus how to identify letters and the letter sounds
What
I’m going to try it with my daughter. I hope it works for us since we just started blending 🥹🥹
❤❤❤
