    I'm old enough to have heard and watched Peter's development over about 50 years. As a drummer myself, it's such a huge pleasure to hear his thoughts on what lead to who he is today. A master musician. :)

    This is interesting that I found this. I am not a drummer, but my favorite is Peter Erskine. When I found your channel I noticed that you were just as musical with a gorgeous tone. Really appreciate your channel. Peace!!

  • @BurnsTennis

    Erskine's advice at 35:15 reminds of ex Australian player Fred Stolle said in commentary. Totally different but similar principle. In a match Jim Courier hit a backhand down the line winner to win the game. Fred said the best players save that shot and use it sparingly, "they keep it in their locker" for maximum impact. Don't use it all the time as the opponent picks up what you are going to do. Similar principle I think. Less is more. Only the best in their chosen profession understands that. They have the shots (chops) and know when to use them at the right times.

    • @drumqtips
      @drumqtips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m with you. We drummers like to use the “backhand down the line” too much. Good analogy! I’m a tennis and basketball player so I appreciate the correlations between music and sports very much. Cheers!

    12:38 - Re: traditional grip - I’m 57 years old. I’ve been playing drums since I was 11. Matched grip. Wondering if it’s too late for me to learn traditional grip?

    • @drumqtips
      @drumqtips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not too late to learn but I'm not sure it's worth switching if you're comfortable with matched grip at this point. Only do it if you feel you REALLY want to learn. Thanks Harry!
