I live near the beach and we often go down to have a picnic there. The tables and benches are always a bit dirty and horrible. I love this idea to keep things cleaner when we are sitting and also eating. Great idea Tracy.
Thank you for your ideas! One more idea is to sew elastic to two mitten clips. Place table cloth on table and use the mitten clips to bring those ends together. You can even make a set for the middle & go under the table. If you need to, you can tie the elastic to make it shorter. You can also put slide hardware on the elastic to make it easily adjustable. Same idea for the seat covers. Keep those videos coming!
Hello! Just a short note to say how much I enjoy the content on your channel. I have had a busy and crazy day in my sewing room but now I'm get to watch your video! I hope you have a happy Easter weekend ahead! Thank you for posting is video and your expertise.
Your picnic table looks great. Fitted bed sheet garders might work also. The garders work great on the back of my ironing boards in holding the covers on firmly. It is east to replace the elastic when needed. Now the problem will be how to keep the plates, cups, and other items from blowing off the table.
Tracy: Admit it. You don't sleep much because your mind just keeps cranking out new sewing projects and ideas, right??? For as long as I've been looking at TH-cam videos, your concept projects are "outside the box" in some way. Case in point: The bench covers are a great addition to the table top covers. Nothing worse than sitting on dirty outdoor wooden benches with nice Easter clothes on. BTW: Did you make little Josie an Easter dress? 💜🐰 Happy Easter! He is Risen! 😄✝️
LOL 😂 You know me so well Dori!!!LOL Josie's momma bought her an Easter Dress this year so I didn't have to make it✅ Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday friend!🌸🌷🌼
@@TheSewingChannel Here's a thought re: your picnic table cover: Pockets somewhere on the cover for napkins, so when it's windy, the napkins won't blow away. Even end of table pockets for storing napkins might be a thought.
I was going to buy some vinyl at Walmart last year to do this but they don’t have that anymore at my Walmart. I don’t know what the price is at Joanns but this idea of using inexpensive tablecloths is great!
I’m not a 🪡 sewer, but I wonder if I could do this? I have been wanting a fitted vinyl tablecloth for the longest time for our 4’ X 6’ kitchen table! New sub, sharing to Facebook! So 🥰 cute.
Forgive my ignorance as I'm new to sewing so would you confirm where you begin to add/sew on the elastic? do you center it on each corner and then work a few inches from one side to the other? or is it straight down a center mark for each corner? Again I'm not clear whe you started the stitching of the elastic because I'm an amateur. Appreciate your guidance and thanks in advance.
I found your channel by searching for how to do this specific sewing project. However I want to use marine grade vinyl. Is there any suggestions that you could offer to use this kind of more durable and thicker vinyl?
Hmmmm not sure...I think the concept should still work. You may have to pull the elastic more taught. Or if it is really stiff...maybe just miter the corners without elastic...and sent it where it needs to go...miter the corner with it hanging over ...not sure if you can visualize what i mean LOL😂
I sewed that a while ago...I can't remember...but If I had to guess...I sewed along the ends and corners with elastic...probably 6" worth down the long sides...✅
What a great idea! I dont have a picnic table, but do have a bench and a folding table we use. I love that you do all kinds of projects!

Thank you so so much! The price is crazy, plus if i need to replace the table cloth, i would end up with mismatched sets!

Oh my it's been awhile since I made this...I forget.sorry
Ok.. have a question. I wanted to know if you sewed elastic on rounded corner edges or whole table cloth top? Thank you.
Nancy...I sewed around the entire way✅

Did you sew the elastic just around the corner and if so how far from the corners did you sew?
I sewed that a while ago...I can't remember...but If I had to guess...I sewed along the ends and corners with elastic...probably 6" worth down the long sides...✅
