  • Been meaning to get this done for a while now. I consider this seat and the principle behind it to be quite genius.

    Great review Barry. The GS-4 Seat is awesome. I can't race without it anymore.

    Another great video Barry! I learned a lot from watching this and the camera angles were especially helpful. Thanks for what you do for the Sim racing community.

    I have never seen anything like this seat, you are right Barry it is genius. I would love to try one out. Thank you for the great review.

    Used a seat like this in a CH 47 simulator and it was incredibly convincing. Wish they were a bit more budget friendly!

    Well I would love to get one as I have done for about 3 years now. I really like your review. It's about blooming time someone did a proper look at one like this,if they have then I couldn't find it. Thanks Barry great show as usual. I found a local race centre here in Bournemouth UK that has 8 stage 4 rigs so I'm trying to get the money together and go try it, £60 an hour though mind. :S

    It's very frustrating to see products that are so excellent with no alternatives on the market, but also knowing it's been discontinued for so long. I don't understand why they stopped selling the GS-4 seat when they didn't have a product to replace it with when there is so much demand for the thing!

    • @asimchohan
      @asimchohan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Darin from Simxperience/InsideSimRacing confirmed during a podcast that they are working on a GS-5 seat.

    • @lufferov
      @lufferov 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Asim Chohan "working on" and actually getting a product to market are two very different things. No word on when a new version will be released... this was a very cost effective, space saving and competitive alternative to a motion rig. No other alternatives exist so it seems strange they'd stop selling it for such a long period when it had nothing but good reviews.

    • @asimchohan
      @asimchohan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I heard that the gs4 was noisy... Not an issue if racing at high volumes. This may be why a better version is being developed. I agree that it shouldn't take do long to come to market but I don't know much about the manufacturing process/patents etc.

    • @lufferov
      @lufferov 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, my point is more as to why they discontinued the GS-4 seat when they didn't have a new version. You wouldn't see Apple stop selling iPhones for 2 years without a new model, or Thrustmaster stop making force feedback wheels wheels for 18 months because they were developing a new version.
      They've lost a lot of sales by discontinuing the GS-4, these are enthusiasts with a large disposable income who would be just as likely to buy a new version as well! I don't understand the business decision behind it.

    • @lufferov
      @lufferov 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I've seen of that, it doesn't work with cockpit rig like a GT Omega, Simetek or Obutto. It also looks ugly!

    Great review! I've had mine since 2013, and it has been an awesome piece of kit until Dec 23... the new simcommander just won't pick it up at installation, I simply can't play my sims without this seat :(

    Barry, would you be able to do a video of calibrating the servos and proper methods of maintainence and replacement of servos? I've had the nylon gears ones and i'm by no means a heavy user, and I've replaced at least 16 servos till now and these servos can add up in cost.

    Hi Barry,
    Great review as always.
    You mention that this is the only seat like this on the market. I guess working exactly like this, this might be the only one but there is also a Geko G-105 which also simulates g-froces however in a different way.
    Would be great if you could review it one day :)
    Anyway perfect timing with a review as I am just looking at buying a g-seat. In between GS-4 and Geko I would prefer Geko but I will wait for GS-5 to see what it will bring to the table.
    Thanks

    Hey Man , nice channel . I was watching your preview of the Fanatec CSW v2 and liked how you opened up the back to show your viewers inside it :) could you do a review on Fanatec's new wheel the CSL Elite and open it up also to show us what motor is inside it and give your feedback on whether you think it would be a good alternative to the CSWv2 ?

    Now that the GS-5 is out, do you anticipate doing a review of it as well? I'm curious if the GS-5 combined with the belt tensioner would be as significant of an upgrade from a static chassis as motion would be, or if motion should be done first.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on who you ask. I would prefer a motion solution where the whole cockpit is moving.

    Any word on a gs-5 review? I was looking for yours specifically lol, no great ones in TH-cam really besides maybe one.

  • @AttilaTheHun333333
    @AttilaTheHun333333 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can imagine the seat is fairly loud with all those big servos...wouldn't you consider that a con in some scenarios? Especially if one uses the seat without a motion rig.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The servos really aren't that loud in my opinion. When I had it mounted to a static rig, I never really noticed the servo noise once I was driving. After all you do have the motor noise from the Sim. Noise is something that a lot of guys have to deal with when racing in the house or apartment. Thing is, the more realistic you make your sim rig, chances are the noise signature is going to go up exponentially. Remember, a real race car noise levels can be deafening inside.

      I'd like to ask you, from your experience, if you had to choose (as i have, because i can't offer both), which one will you keep between a G-Seat and a racing seat with actuators ?

    • @jean-christophebordier4604
      @jean-christophebordier4604 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simracinggarage3026 Hello Barry, 5 is there ! Will you get one, or at least test one ?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may not be able to secure one as I have already spent most of the SRG's budget for 2019 on this years review items. Also, it is a technology that I have already reviewed in the GS-4. With some improvements of course. Still, would be happy to review it if SimXperience would send me a demo unit I could send back.

    Just curious, since the price point for both NLR v3 and the GS5 is similar. If I could only afford one - is one clearly a better investment?

    • @hstevefrancis1003
      @hstevefrancis1003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Different as result, V3 simulate the cars tilting to serve your motion awareness while G5 simulate the force apply to your body.
      Two purpose, you could have both for complete feeling

  • @adrianstealth340
    @adrianstealth340 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like a good product (now that's it's using metal mech servos)
    I would use this as a stand alone only e.g. Not incorporated into another motion system

    • @AduroMelior
      @AduroMelior 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you think it would complement an SFX-100? I think those work a lot differently from the motion Barry focused on.

      These are no longer available but SimXperience are working on a follow up. The cost was very reasonable for what you got and when you look at the foot print this takes up compared to a motion rig its genius.
