You are the embodiment of "Don't stop, just keep going till you love it!" It's a lesson I am trying to stick with myself although a few projects still hit the trashcan. Keep on rockin girl, You are an inspiration.
Your card turned out beautiful. Love seeing you work through all your trial and tribulations! It always makes you so real to me and just not a video personality (which you are❣️). Thanks for another great video.
I love how you never hesitate to point out what you think is wrong, yet you keep going and it always looks amazing to me. I also love the be-jig-gity vocabulary, cracked me up! I love how the card turned out and makes me want to break out my colored pencils and my favorite boyfriend, purple! LOL You are rocking it today Kelly!
Gotta tell you, that vase shines. Love it. Colored pencils are my fav medium. I like the texture of pencils on paper, so I don't always go for the smooth look. I don't think you can go wrong with either look.
Love watching you “create” that color! I can’t get into using colored pencils, its too time consuming for me. But i really am enjoying using the markers. It’s so vibrant! I will however keep watching you! Thank you for teaching me so much and giving me a laugh!
I think you did a fantastic job on this card, Kelly! As for coloring the darker blue under the leaf where it overhangs the vase, that's totally OK. The leaf would be casting a shadow, so the vase under that would be darker--not a bright white highlight. Love this card, and thank you (as always) for the giggles! :)
The card is absolutely gorgeous. One thing I like about you, you tell it like it is. You don't edit out your mistakes and you keep on working it out. I would have tossed it and started over. So, all in all, you've inspired me with your honesty to never give up on a card, and to keep working on it (at least with colored pencils). Hugs to Peanut!
Whaaaaaaat no story? Lol. I love how your card turned out. I use colored pencils a lot and you're right about not giving up on them. They take time to get use to and I my no means am a great colorist, but with lots of practice I see my improvements all the time. Blue is my boyfriend too, lol. We've been together all my life, lol.
I so needed a Kelly video on this rough day I've had....thank you for that! I agree with many other comments left....the card is so pretty and so is the vase but I know you had a good point when you mentioned that the flowers were meant to be the focal point and not the vase. I so appreciate your upfront attitude Kelly....you call things what they are....just one of the things that I love that about you! Thanks Kelly
So beautiful. You always pull off great cards, regardless of the medium of choice. I think you did another amazing job Kelly and I appreciate the fact that you never start over. You make it work!
I always struggle with pencils and have a low attention span for them lol .... but I've been trying to keep going with them. Thanks for more beautiful inspiration !
In regards to the texting going on, if i want to talk to someone, anyone, all i have to do is leave phone in kitchen and sit on the toilet!! Bingo!! Phone rings!! I think there is a signal of some kind hooked to the toilet rim!! Discussing , but true. Lovely card. Also appreciate the advice. TFS
omg blue's your boyfriend? haha I have never heard that one before, buy come to think of it he's mine too, been my favorite since I was a little girl and it's always my go to when picking out a color of practically anything! you are my favorite TH-camr, I think we're twinsys! love this card! keep it real!
Have you tried a colorless blender instead of using the white? Also, Gamsol is a nice blending agent. You probably already know this and I want to thank you for using this medium! So refreshing after everyone’s endless use of copics. Such a pretty card!
Bejiggity? Ok..."the sweetest thing" quote? I loved that movie! I think this card came out great! I have that sentiment and rarely use it. I love it tho. Im inspired to bust it out. Thanks!
As a colored pencil artist can I just offer a tip. the way you colored the vase using the dark blue and the flick motions you were doing is what made it hard to blend with colored pencil if you color in small circles and don't leave any hard edges then it's much easier to blend I know you're a marker artist so you're used to that flick so I just thought I'd say that I hope it helps if you even needed it LOL
Susan Dzama oh boy I really don't. Sadly I am a do everything online gal lol I would say the local community college or libraries may offer special community art classes that are cheap. I took one years ago for about $50 for 4 classes. Sorry. But if your friend gets internet. I would say check out Skillshare and an artist on TH-cam Kirsty Partride Art she offers a class.
Susan Dzama, you can try Creative Catalyst Productions. They have a few DVDs for colored pencil instruction: ccpvideos.com/collections/all-dvd-titles/colored-pencil. HTH! :)
First your card is adorable and second thank you thank you for saying what sharpener you used. I have wanted that stamp set but that it was sold out, at least when I went :(
Love it. Really enjoy the chat and how honestly are when you feel you have done something wrong. It always looks good to me. I have learnt from you things are fixable so thank you for that. By the way love the spring flower nails. Do you do them yourself? They are always gorgeous.💕
Thank you! I have it, and have used it in the past but I feel like mastering colored pencils has to be done with just the pencils. Probably my own personal hang up :)
Kelly Latevola true! I guess I use it bc I am not good a coloring and even using alcohol markers is hard. I can never get good shadows. I think I need to go slower & stop wanting instant gratification. TFS. Love to watch you color & love your stories. I was cracking up with the hello hello lol
Beautiful as always . Do you know of any DVD available to teach how to use colored pencils ? I want to give lessons for a gift and she doesn't have internet thank you
Susan Dzama, contact the folks at artistsnetwork.com. They have beginner tutorials for download, which you may be able to get permission to burn onto DVD for personal use. If not, they’ll know where you can get access to DVDs for order online. 👍
Susan Dzama, I replied to your comment above, but just in case you don't get notified about that, you can try Creative Catalyst Productions. They have a few DVDs for colored pencil instruction: ccpvideos.com/collections/all-dvd-titles/colored-pencil. HTH! :)
Kelly. I’m wanting to start collecting comic markers. I can’t buy all at once. I’d like to buy 10 at a time. May I ask u. How do I suggest I go about buying? As in just start from the first marker at the top of the list or are there ones I should absolutely have first and if I may be so bold as to ask what order in groups of 10 should I buy? I hope I make sense. And I know u r dreadfully busy but I admire u and ur work so much I hope it’s not too much to ask. Perhaps U can email me? Thank u for ur consideration.
I would recommend buying a good selection of grays as well as whatever you'll use the most. Color a lot of people? Skintones. Color a lot of critters? Browns and grays. Color a lot of flowers? pick greens and another color or two you love. I know gray markers are boring but if you buy C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, and 110 you can color black and white as well as shade just about every other color. I started my Copic collection off of Jennifer McGuire's because she likes bright colors and so do I. You can see her post here www.jennifermcguireink.com/2010/02/copics.html

Simple but elegant. Loved the card. And your nails so much fun. Thanks for sharing.
Kelly, you rock and I love your cards and how you always explain your process !
Gotta tell you, that vase shines. Love it. Colored pencils are my fav medium. I like the texture of pencils on paper, so I don't always go for the smooth look. I don't think you can go wrong with either look.
I like that you leave in the "oops." I think this turned out beautifully, and I might try no line coloring one of these days! Thanks, Kelly.
Even though you feel that you struggled with the vase - that was actually my favorite part!! Looks fantastic!
I don't think the vase takes away from the flowers at all... I love it!!! You did a great job !!!
Love watching you “create” that color! I can’t get into using colored pencils, its too time consuming for me. But i really am enjoying using the markers. It’s so vibrant! I will however keep watching you! Thank you for teaching me so much and giving me a laugh!

Thank you! I have used both but I really like the brightness the white adds :)
Bejiggity? Ok..."the sweetest thing" quote? I loved that movie! I think this card came out great! I have that sentiment and rarely use it. I love it tho. Im inspired to bust it out. Thanks!
OMG I always get to the “I hate you colored pencils” point! ALWAYS! My fingers HURT after using them!
The vase turned out great...thanks for he tip to keep on adding colour I think I give you too early...xx

Little tiny circles And also in the same direction not across where you've already coloured. This turned out just beautifully.
Ronda Watson absolutely! Thanks for the information :)
Ronda Watson as a colored pencil artist do you know of any one that teaches on DVD that I could buy as a gift for a friend who has no Internet thanks
