Teaching a Brit history that I didn't know so not only an enjoyable tour of Canterbury but an educational one as well. 😊The county of Kent is known as the Garden of England and it is one of my favourites. Hopefully your sister can return soon Michelle. x.

I read that Kent is referred to as the Garden of England, which makes we want to go back and explore more! I'm so glad you experienced value from this episode - I know we sure did making it!

My sister said she felt that she got the full London experience while she was here and that the Canterbury trip was the cherry on top. Loved having her here! Glad you enjoyed the episode; you're correct, the weather was really on our side that day!

So happy that you’ve made it to Canterbury! Love the city and the area; so much to see/do! (Disclosure-may have mentioned this in an earlier reply.) My family and I lived in C’bury for 18 mo while I was a Fulbright exchange teacher (chemistry) at Kings School. In fact, at 8:05, as you entered Green Court, my classroom was (about) diagonally opposite to you. Always met my wife and kids in Buttermarket on my AM break for a tea. I try to return from the States to visit friends as often as possible. Will be making that trip, along with my sons, in Sept. And, loved Nicole’s expression entering the Crypt!

That was both entertaining AND educational to watch. Thank you. Cathedrals are often covered in scaffolding as maintenance is ongoing, but I usually buy a postcard of the building so that I can see what it looks like uncovered, while I’m checking it out.

Hello 🙂 I’m from Kent, the Garden of England! Named because of all the greenery and fruit/veg produce that comes from here - oh and hops of course, for making beer! If you ever see buildings in and around Kent, that have a pointy conical roof, that is an Oast House, where the hops were dried for the making of beer and ales. My son had his Graduation ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral in 2015 and it was covered in scaffolding then! There are lots of castles, cathedrals and historic places of interest in Kent, so make another train trip out to us again 🙂

Welcome Helen from Kent! What an iconic place for your son to have had his graduation ceremony! I am very interested in returning to Kent; sounds like there are plenty of things to see and memories to be made.

Not sure if you came across the Royal Tombs inside the cathedral but a point of interest is that Henry IV is buried alongside his uncle the Black Prince
So what I hear you ask........well the interesting or rather odd thing is that Henry murdered the Black Prince's son Richard II (probably by starvation) in the dungeon of Pontefract Castle

Canterbury also has the oldest Cafe Nero in the country, dating from 1573. Don't believe me? It's on the High Street.

If the map ,train route says its going to or stopping at a Town it usually does, Its not Hogwarts, Trains tend to stay on the Rails ,and last time I travelled on the permanent way , NO roundabouts, Roundhouse, at Tibshelf. But you still have to stay on the rails 🚈 🙄
