@@knightclassic1 He was talmbout wantin to see anOrion V doing what the GMC RTS is doin. But I wanna see that Orion bus with a DD6v92 do it. That's what I was referrin to.
Nearly all our Detroit Diesels are on long distance coaches and hooked to crash boxes. Only a small batch of city buses with Detroit 6-71s and Allison four speeds were used in the 1980s. They were sold off early due to high fuel consumption. Fuel costs a lot more in Australia than the U.S.
I wish they had a 1987 TMC and 1990-91 TMC (6v92 powered). They also have a 1986 GMC owned. I wish the MTA had repowered our current '90s Novabus RTS with 6v92 engine, but that's for emission reduction.
They are not memories for me. I drive mine every once in a while originally San Diego #806 35’ 96”. Loved the toy bus as a kid now I have a real one and love it
csouth28 In 1981 everybody hate the RTS. They are under powered, the windows are never open a bowl and are tinted black, and the rear door for the wheelchair lift is operated manually by a driver. People love the RTS from 82, 84, and so on. But not the 1990 TMC with a series 50. Because let me tell you something that bus was slow from MTA bus they were given.
@@knucklesdafunkeeog6523 I like the same as you mentioned, I understand that 6V71 was never strong powerful on most vehicles (Except I love 6V71s on a GM Fishbowls and GM Classics), 6v71 were horrible on an RTS its why RTS was the 1st make and model to have 6V92 Engine in 1980
The beauty of a NYCT Remanufactured RTS with ATEC V-731 and a ReliaBuilt 6V-92TA DDEC to match it! I miss them alot! LOVE IT!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Child hood memories of that bus sound in Brooklyn, NY from the late 80s. LOL
The GMC RTS is my favorite bus.
Mines too
Mine as well
I Remember the Rts Buses Back in the day
7018 aka 2628 is a true classic 36 years old and still runs like a champ...let me see an Orion V do that
Yes, with a 6V-92, not no 50G Series.
@@darnell899 MCI Classic w/ 6V92 can do the same thing, Not Nova Classic with Series 50

Let me see a New Flyer XD/E do that!
Look for Montgomery Ride On Orion V 5546, that's the only that comes within range. I would dare say it surpasses it
I saw this bus near Roosevelt Ave a few years ago.
Nice! I wonder if Eastchester depot would sell them those handicapped seats if they have any laying around now that they all retired.
That lift is probably broken anyway though.
My dad probably worked on that bus at one point in his 31 years at MTA MaBSTOA
Listening to this again in 2021!! Love it! Is this bus still preserved currently?
It was used as a movie bus, was never fully preserved. Last I heard it was in poor condition.
This is a product GMC should still be making not rebadging a Chevy truck and called it a Sierra

Oh, I was talking about Picture Car East Inc.
6v92 is best all around, not just outside.
this sounds very much like a 71n. 92s are way more highpitched!
You can put a snack bar where the Handicapped seats were

I have many questions?
What “route” is this?
How come you on the bus?
It’s not a route, it’s privately owned now.
csouth28 oh nice
csouth28 ok but how were you on it lol
@@redbird1train855 he obviously knew the owner lol
He knew the person operating it.....amazing when you know people who knows people!!!
I honestly prefer the DD Series 50 engine on an RTS.
Yep they do sound more beast with a S50 or even an 8v71 engine imo but I prefer the 6v92 better on Flxible Metros and Orion I and V buses
