    Another work story: I was running late and accidentally sprayed an older Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger (from a decant). I would never wear that to work intentionally. And of course we had an impromptu meeting in a close, stuffy office. I felt like I was baking in cumin. No one said anything but people were frowning and discreetly sniffing.

    Ha! Love the stories, and here's one of mine: A colleague complained to me about a fragrance our co-worker was wearing. She said our co-worker smelled like a dirty hippie, and she asked me to "talk" to her. Turns out our co-worker was wearing Chanel Coromandel, edt....from a decant I gave her! She actually smelled quite lovely to me. lol

    Ramsey seems to have several “ friends “ that give him “ gifts “ some of his reviews sound like advertising to me just in a more creative / articulate way than others . As far as other reviewers / influencers reviewing other reviewers fragrances or each others fragrances thats a joke i put no trust in that content

      I agree one hundred percent on the non-value in influencers reviewing other influencers😂

    Hi, I think you are responsible for how you manage your channel and not for what others are doing. Of course you can express your opinion about how they do what they do but I have noticed that this "judging" is taking a lot of space in your channel lately. I really appreciate your reviews and you as a part of the perfume world and I am here to learn from you and have a nice time. ❤

      Thank you for the feedback. I am looking for reviewers that spend their own money on fragrance. They are very hard to find! They can do what they want on TH-cam but it is not what I am looking for. So still looking... And of course I want to influence others (my followers) to think more about how trustworthy an influencers' content is. Who is benefiting from the review? etc.

      Not quite sure what paragraph you are referring to? Clémences video or the person who commented here? I feel that a good and trustworthy reviewer must speak about both the good and the bad. @@Oshiiiiiiiiiiii

    I have a 1991 bottle of Must de Cartier because it was my mother’s signature scent. I just smell it and it and it’s like she’s still here.

    So, one difference I think you have to point out us if a store, or a brand, gives you bottles.
    If a brand gives you a free gift, that could be suspect. But, if a store gives you a free gift ... then they don't really care if you like or dislike the fragrance, they mostly care about taking people to their store.
    I think fragrance TH-camrs receiving fragrances from stores is perfectly okay. GentScents points out that, ultimately, the store wants to sell product, but it doesn't necessarily care WHICH product it sells.
    There would have to be some sort of weird store, brand, and TH-camr three-way handshake thing going on here for one to suspect free bottles from stores.

    • @thehonestperfumereviewer6336
      @thehonestperfumereviewer6336  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good point! I understand what you mean. It can be a little problematic for me since I know the people who run the stores and I would like the freedom to say negative things about fragrances and if I had been given them, it would be hard.

    We are alike...I also cannot smell BR540 & JHAG frags. For instance, Sunny Side Up-everyone seems to love and I can’t smell it😅I *could* smell but hated Vanilla Vibes as I don’t like marine/salt.

    Such funny reactions!! I got an almost similar reaction to Le Labo Patchouli, I was over to my mother for supper, and I wore Patchouli, and she asked who smelled like salami :) But other than that, I do not know if I have had any bad reactions to my perfume. But I do not own or wear very out there scents, I prefer to smell good, and not like an wild beast. Btw, I sold off the Le Labo one...

    I am a fan of Chypre Palatin. Will definitely keep an eye on Must de Cartier as any similarities is enough to intrigue me.
    I once wore a rich incense attar from Sultan Pasha, and an ex-colleague opened the window to air the room thinking something had died in the room. I don't think she wears perfume though.

    My daughter told me I smelled like a charity shop when I wore Mitsouko. I was spending the day with her and had it in my bag so I sprayed it a couple of times throughout the day and she quite liked it in the end. 😂

    I've learnt to dismiss others' comments on my fragrances (especially if they aren't into fragrances) when they compare it to something they are familiar with since they are not fragrance enthusiasts and their mental vocabulary for comparing and analyzing fragrances is limited and somewhat inaccurate. For example my sister in law always makes a comment that my fragrance smells like baby powder and she's said that about multiple fragrances and I don't see the baby powder component. Baby powder is probably the closest thing she could compare a particular note in my fragrances with, hence the baby powder comparison. This may be the case with the comment about your fragrance smelling like baked potato.
    Skin chemistry is also a huge factor in how fragrances smell. For example one of my favorite patchoulis is Coromandel, but on my ex, it smell fecal.

    • @thehonestperfumereviewer6336
      @thehonestperfumereviewer6336  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think oak moss plus some fruits in perfume notes together could smell like rotten fruits. I have the little bottle of Nomade absolu from Chloe and I can smell it. Back then I liked oak moss and now I am very suspicious about this note in any perfume). My taste definitely changed.

    My comment keeps getting erased probably because contained a link - for vintage I need to recommend Perfumes from The Past, in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Great service (I got a Hypnotic Poison vintage in prime state with them), reasonable prices and they have Safari. And for honest reviews my place to go is Les Oderants, a very fun podcast. May be something for you too.

    That's too bad about your Balmain sprayer, so irritating. As to funny comments about niche perfume, my daughter smelled Olympic Orchids Kyphi and said "Tom Kah Soup". Lol, that was better than what I got, which is a totally unwearable fragrance. I actually had a visceral gag reaction to that one. I have already mentioned my Husband saying MFK Absolue Pour le Soir smelled like cat box. Yes, I too have been the recipient of the lovely "old lady Perfume" comment. Too bad I love my old chypres and oak moss heavy perfumes. That Caron is gorgeous. Don't let a comment about it stop your enjoyment of it! oxJulia

    Hi. I have a feedback, please don’t take it as an offence. I enjoy your videos about perfumes and I do appreciate you do not accept full bottles as pr gifts. I feel that you focus to much on what others youtoubers are doing. Let them do what ever, there is enough space for everybody on the internet. And if you want to educate consumers on how to filter the real information from the ocean of marketing maybe you can make a dedicated video and don’t mention specific YT chanels. Have a good day ❤

    I love your channel and your honesty, but I wish you would save your judgement for perfumes and not people. Enchante has been in business for decades and Anouge is known to be an extremely kind and generous person. Ramsey has collected vintage fragrance for years, so of course they are "fragrance friends". The package that Ramsey received was purely a gift from Anouge because Ramsey is going through a very difficult personal time in his life. You have a great nose and knowledge of fragrances and as a viewer I really would love if you could support others in the community rather than put them down.

    • @Jaiem_
      @Jaiem_ 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      And because Ramsay is getting a divorce, he was gifted bottles for free? Even more likely we will hear a biased review then. The person gifting might be kind, but it’s still a collaboration.

      I never said anything bad about Anouge. Guess that is the spelling? He has done nothing wrong. It is Ramsey’s being critical about other influencers accepting ”gifts” and then he does the same. I am sure they are friends at this point, but to make a whole video about the latest gift feels like pay-back to me.

      Omg…so this seller which gets so much airtime on the Texan’s channel and others, who btw sends bottles without them paying is not profiteering from all the business coming his way??? Frequently a vintage is hyped so much the herd follow and order from this seller, Wake up!
      Sending some mini bottles for free is the least he can do. He was even popping up on livestreams on many channels associated with the Texan cheerleader. Any channel can speak up and say it like it is, if you don’t like it, tune out.

      @@LEgoiste. I was simply stating that I enjoy "influencers" that do not speak poorly of others. There's enough hate in this world and I was simply offering some constructive criticism. I believe there are others out there that feel the same way I do. And you are correct, I can tune out and I will.
