I'd love to hear who came up with this mash-up idea in the team. It is quite a talent to hear two different songs and realize the meter and chord progressions are so complimentary, but the lyrics compliment, too.
They do mash ups better than anyone. Most of the time they mash them up in ways that are thrilling and unexpected. They also often give us mashups we never knew we needed.
I prefer the live from Vevo version as you can see them all in shot and see who is singing which part of the harmonies. I know you asked recently about how they sound live ...can highly recommend ' My Heart With You ' from 'Christmas Under The Stars
All the acapella groups are good, but there are just no other five people on this planet who can harmonize better than these five. It's just uncanny how well they can sound sometimes and make it appear effortless, which it probably is. If you want to see a very happy Christmas video of PTX, check out their mashup from several years ago of Winter Wonderland/Don't Worry, Be Happy. It features Tori Kelly singing mostly with Scott, and it is one of my favorites. It just has such a happy vibe to it.
Re: Mitch and Freddie. Freddie passed November 24, 1991. Mitch was born July 24, 1992. If Freddie's music-spirit could land somewhere ... just sayin' ... 😉
Years ago, I fell in love with Pentatonix the first time I accidentally heard them on TH-cam. Up until I heard Pure Imagination/Christmas Time Is Here, I could not have told you which of their songs was my favorite. Now I have a favorite-this one! Happy Holidays!
I love when anyone is amazed by mitch. His voice was what brought me to this group years ago. I also love new reactors and by second video they'll know at least one persons name, mitch. Most know mitch. Pentaholics are now in the dictionary (check) i wonder if "mitch slap" is far behind. Hmmm. Also big recommendation is Eva Cassidy. Most vocalists seem to already know her so you may as well, if not an amazing voice lost young but found fame after passing. Her voice in MANY ways reminds me of Mitch. Very precise, well controlled and honed craft and ability to reach across a crevasse and squeeze your heart! The ability to throw that craft into any genre with ease. How does the saying go? Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard. But if talent does work hard....mitch. Kirstie. Scott. Kevin. Matt. (Eva cassidy lol)

Actually, this was released last year, in conjunction with their 2023 Christmas album, "Greatest Christmas Hits." It looks like they won't be releasing a Christmas album this year; I'm not sure whether they've run out of Christmas songs or whether it has something to do with their new recording contract with Republic Records (or both).
