Hi. My name is abdisalem. I have been teaching English for six years and half. Really, I always watch your videos and website. You are the best one I've ever met.
Hi. Thank you for your explanation. But can we use this structure with the definite article "the"? Example The black car of Benjamin's. Thank you in advance.
Thank you for explanation, please ,could you explain for me how can I distinguish between gerund and present participle like drinking water ,and playing cricket, and thanks for you once again.
That's a nice thing to hear, but you usually don't use this phrase with a superlative. If you have many teachers, you could say something like, "He's a teacher of mine." But that sounds a little stranger for some reason. I recommend this usage for friends, neighbors, coworkers, students, employees...any situation in which you have many relationships or things. It's a habit of mine to work on my website every day. I do many different things during the day, and I have many different habits. Do you see what I mean?
We'd like to you more on youtube. Real conditionals and future time clauses with all tenses including future progressive and perfect, please. Appreciate your time and effort. 👋
Hi! I was reading a book and met this sentence: “You really must learn to control that temper of yours, my boy." So I do not understand, "temper of yours" .... what? Tempers? And also, is there a difference between this sentences: You really must learn to control that temper of yours, my boy. You really must learn to control your temper, my boy. Thank you!
This looks strange to me. I never used "they are friends of his" but I used and learned only "they are friends of him" is correct!. Also, "are they friends of yours?" Is not comfortable for me..... "Are they friends of you?" is what I have read so far. @teacher paul, please explain this a bit deeper
Well, it gets down to common usage. What do most people say? You may say "They are friends of him" where you live. If everyone says that and it doesn't sound strange, then that form might be acceptable. But I can guarantee that if you say that where I live, most people will say that doesn't sound right. Consider other possessive pronouns: They are friends of mine. They are friends of yours. They are friends of hers. They are friends of his. They are friends of ours. They are friends of theirs. Those all sound good to me, but then I live in the United States and speak American English, so...
@@Learnamericanenglishonline Yes you are correct Paul. I live in India. Like you said all other pronouns are clear and familiar to me. But only this "they are friends of his" was bit strange. Will correct it with your advice here after.
Sir Paul. I've been using your chatroom on rumble talk for around 3 weeks. And it's awesome. But some people try to spam it with duplicate names and some run programming script to spam the chatroom. Please remove that guest option like you've done before. Thanks my username is Nick

Hi!
I was reading a book and met this sentence: “You really must learn to control that temper of yours, my boy."
So I do not understand, "temper of yours" .... what? Tempers?
And also, is there a difference between this sentences:
You really must learn to control that temper of yours, my boy.
You really must learn to control your temper, my boy.
Thank you!
Basically those sentences are the same meaning. They are written different grammar usages.
