Probably the most flawless and spot on ranking video I have ever seen. For sentimental reasons I want to include the first record, and I want to include Oh Mercy and Time Out of Mind, both great and pivotal albums in Dylan's career. The only problem is, try as I might, I cannot justify removing any albums in your top ten to make room for any of them. Well done, sir.

All of The Beatles idolized Dylan. He's one of the best lyricist of all time. Nice ranking.

    Very fun.
Dylan said he stopped smoking during "Nashville Skyline."
    Yea... lay lady.

Great list.as close to mine as I have seen. Dylan's 60'-mid 70's period defined him and gave him a platform for a very uneven mid-later career with some very large highs and a lot of junk. BOTT is a great minimalist personal piece while Highway 61 is Guernica in music. It is very period but it stands alone in defining that time as an American, more so than Revolver did for the Beatles. Anyone who puts his Evangelical stuff really high misses him. Dylan has had some very good stuff later but not Olympian. Cohen was better later but Dylan's astonishing first 15 years makes him the all time lyrical singer songwriter champ.
    Good job.

You asked the question 'Who is the lady on the cover of 'Bringing It All Back Home'? It is Sally Grossman, who was the wife of his then manager Albert Grossman.

    3. Bringing It All Back Home
    4. Blonde on Blonde
    5. Nashville Skyline

I am fairly close to agreeing with your ranking. Top 3 are the same. Always hard to choose for me whether to put Blonde on Blonde of Highway 61 Revisited at the top.
    1. Blonde on Blonde
    2. Highway 61 Revisited super close second was my favorite when I was younger and sometimes still is so could easily be tied for first
    3. Bringing it all Back Home
    4. Another Side of Bob Dylan / The Basement Tapes with the Band
    5. FreeWheelin'
    6. John Wesley Harding
    7. Desire
    8. Blood on the Tracks great album greatl yrics and songs but a lot of songs bring me down, except Tangled up in Blue and Idiot Wind which are two classics not as downbeat, have more punch and independent spirit,Idiot Wind is like Like a Rolling Stones for the seventies
    9. Love and Theft / Modern Times
    10. Oh Mercy!

    My top 5 is:
    1. Highway 61 Revisited
    2. Blonde on Blonde
    3. Bringing It All Back Home
    4. Self Portrait
    5. Nashville Skyline
Yep, you see that right. Self Portrait at 4. I just think its a great collection of songs and massively underrated- I believe all because it got a notoriously bad review in Rolling Stone magazine. Over the years I think critics have been reluctant to go against accepted wisdom on this album, and fans follow suit. It’s so underrated, never appears on anyone’s best of lists. I think Dylan recorded a fine set of roots/Americana songs here, love listening to it.

I agree. Self portrait gets a bad rap. I love the late 60’s-early 70’s country/Americana sound. It’s a good collection, although a bit long. Also wish they would release the Dylan 1973 album on cd. It was only released in the complete album collection box set. Honestly I’m a fan of all his albums, except the newer stuff after together through time. They get a little boring for me.

That's my top three favorites would probably put Blonde on Blonde first now but when I was younger Highway 61 was number one so it could go either way.

I agree with some of your favorite songs as well. I think Al Cooper volunteered to play the organ because he wanted to be on the album. Dylan said "turn it up" on the organ.
