Great to hear a shout out to the Star of The Price is Right: Bob Barker!
I was in the audience and a year later, this still makes me so happy to watch! I didn’t know any of the people that won but I felt genuine happiness when they did win, especially the bigger prizes!
We were there for about 8-9 hours (a lot of waiting around outside) and only were inside for a couple of those. Bryce was actually pretty late and didn’t get there until right before we went in to the studio. Then he won everything 😂🎉 👏🏼
prizes were nice but show got worse over the years. I mean, look at the people. more than half of them are overweight. you've never seen this in the 70's/80's. thanks feminism.

@@TehJew22 yeah, last season having no audience made the show feel more staged. I get that they pick the contestants before the show, but if you were going to actually come on down was a surprise if you are sitting in a group of people. By having no audience, the feeling of surprise was gone and the dumb striking a pose thing was horrible after a contestant won the Contestants Row bid.
Now it’s back to having a more surprised reaction and it feels more natural again

It always cracks me up when grocery items get the most generic description possible: "It's a 1.5 quart carton of cookie dough ice cream", "It's a 3 ounce can of cat food". Guessing some companies didn't go the extra mile to pay for a branded plug.
It's been quite some time since they've done branded plugs on the show. I rarely hear the brand being explicitly mentioned when I watch. It might be because having your brand featured on a long-running and much-loved game show is good enough for you to be recognized.
I feel it's for time savings - there is less time to run everything within about a 35 - 39 minutes.
Well they do this hoping the contestants pay attention when most of the time they don't. Because a 9 oz can of cat food would cost MORE than a 3 oz can of cat food. As I said on a previous post, I'd have this game won if I played it on the show, because I do my own grocery shopping, and used to work for a grocery store chain.
I think we kinda miss Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy, Don't We?(R.I P.)

The pricing game "Squeeze Play" went back to its original color = blue. There could've been a DSW winner, when Bryce missed the showcase by $450 (only $200 away from a DSW winner). Despite that, it was his day and game anyways! It was also still a "Big Win" for him, he won $61,523, including a car that got him to be the "Runner Up" in the showcase, because his opponents trip & everything else, included in the "Bonus Game" that was worth almost $55,000 (total really is: $48,700). That was not the 1st time, in the showcase where a car winner had been the "Runner Up," the 1st time, in the showcase, where the other Scott, won a car in "Any Number," back in 1991, that didn't beat the other Scott's winnings from Plinko & The Big Wheel, and the other Scott lost.

Pay the Rent is such a BORING game. As soon as they instinctively put the cheapest item in the mailbox you already know the game is lost (in terms of getting the top prize).

@@JonesDylan874 They might as well take the second prize as putting the cheapest item in the mailbox virtually guarantees the top prize cannot be won. That's what makes the game so anti-climatic.
The path to $1 000 000 was: antacid ($8,99) atop, coffee & cat food ($8,84) in floor 2, ice cream & soup ($7,78) in main floor, & stuffing ($3,79) in mailbox.

How is the studio audience arranged for this season I'm not sure if they shuffled the audience seats around to random positions because of the pandemic or not
I'm just now noticing how much the newer version of this game is similar to "Bonkers" & "Race Game"
Bryce got his bid correct but i did not see Drew give him his $500 for correct bid.
They don't because of Covid & not wanting to handle the same items ...my thing is, once you're there, you're there & surely everyone has been tested & should be ok to at least hand off the $500

But sadly, this was the beginning of the final season of “The Price Is Right” where it was taped at the Bob Barker Studio at CBS Television City. The final episode will be airing this summer at this old studio until Television City goes into renovation. Season 51 will be a brand new studio starting this fall.

When the show first premiered in 1972. Then, in 1975, they made it 1 hour.

@@vinniemystery563 It isn't edited. This is the run time of the show without commercials (if you go back and view older episodes they are typically 40-45 minutes cause of the same, unless commercials are included). The show is still an hour on TV.
It's saying only 38 minutes, because commercials were cut out. Thank god, lol.
5:47 -- This is what I HATE about this game! The contestant nearly always instinctively puts the cheapest item in the mailbox...and you already know the game is over (in terms of getting the top prize). It would be a lot better if the contestant could start from the top and go down (as the most expensive item should obviously always go at the top).
I'm surprised this game is ever won at all.
I don't mean to brag, but every time this game is played, I guess it right every time, and I'd have won the million dollars! It helps when you worked for a grocery store chain, and or you do grocery shopping for yourself, haha.
People just don’t play right, figure out the most expensive then figure out the second most expensive and the cheapest and pair them. 3rd most expensive in the mailbox and ya got it
@@willjenkins4195 That's why they should let the contestant just put the items in from the TOP on down or in whatever order they want. The show isn't stupid, they know basic contestant psychology and hence they know by starting with the mailbox...

September 4th, 2022 marks Price is Right's 50th year on television. I hope Bob Barker lives long enough to see it, despite the fact that he turns 98 this December.
Actually, 2007 was his 50th year on TV. He hosted another game show before doing TPiR.

That's what I am hoping too, that he can make a brief appearance on the primetime show, or even make an appearance from his home if he is not well enough. Bob Barker is a television legend!!

I'm just a practice didn't do a tribute intro from the very first episode on 9/4/72 when it very first came on the since it's the 50th I'm so surprised they did it for the 40th back in 2011 and not the 50th

Yes, they didn't even have an audience last season. They had the contestants waiting back stage and when their name was called, they took their mask off and went to the main stage. The season before that was before Covid hit, so that's when they had their full audience.

$100,000 IS YOURS! WHAT A WAY TO START OFF THE BRAND NEW SEASON WITH THE FIELD GOAL.
Pfftt.. no it wasn't. It was a cheap and easy way to guarantee a $100,000 would be won. A blind chimp facing the wrong direction could have won that money.
This was a HUGE disappointing let down. The only "above and beyond regular daytime" game just had to be the boring predictable Pay the Rent. You know, where the contestant nearly always instinctively puts the cheapest item in the mailbox and you already know the top prize is lost.
