Susanne Marie “Living Beyond Unity” Interview by Renate McNay

  • Susanne Marie is a Mystic, spiritual Mentor and Guide and currently writing her first book about her journey to Awakening.
In this interview she talks about the 3 different major awakening she had.
    1. Emptiness of Mind…Mind waking up to itself
    2. Unity Consciousness…the Heart understood the truth of form, the form itself is divine and I AM THAT not just I AM
9 years of integration and embodiment followed when a realisation happened she wasn’t anticipating…
    3. Her Body released itself of identity, she was left with NO SELF
The Body contains identity within its own structure, the sense of ME which is needed to help it function. When the ME fell away within the body nothing was ever the same. There is no landing place anymore. Self reflection came to a permanent End. There is only pure experience only NOW. She says: “Go directly to the experience and feeling of what is arising, drop deeper into the vastness of your Being, rest there, no need to interpret, let go without knowing.”

Hi S! I am very grateful for Bernadette Roberts' map (albeit her Christian path is not my own), and often mention her with deep appreciation as a source of of my having gained understanding regarding 'no-self'. But in truth, I use my own words and I am not using her map in any pure way. I speak from my own experience and my language is for the most part my own. In terms of being 'the real thing', if that is based on her map, then maybe I am not. Wishing you well!

I have rarely seen teachers in the public view who hold the depth of “no self” while simultaneously embracing one’s humanity. Susanne Marie describes her stages of awakening beyond unity in a way that it becomes a felt-sense in those who are open to the transmission. We begin to recognize the truth of our own universal nature by participating in this conversation. I love when Susanne said, “In spirituality, we want to get to this place and then we realize there is no one there.” This very paradox reveals our true nature. Thank you for this delightful and timely interview. We need to see more teachers like Susanne in the public discourse. I look forward to her upcoming book.

This is a wonderful interview on both parts- a lovely flow. For those new to Susanne, I highly encourage you to dive in to the rest of her videos after this one and consider a mentoring or healing session. She is the real deal- expansive, tuned in, humble, and deeply compassionate. Thank you, Renate for your expansive consciousness, sensitivity to the flow of things, and the magisterial output of ConsciousTV- it's a great service.

What a joy to watch this conversation. The clarity with which Susanne maps the terrain of I Am to I Am That to simply Am is a potent transmission. I’m lucky to call Susanne a friend. Her heart and pure being radiantly shines.

I really appreciate how natural and easeful the two of you are with one another in this interview. Simplicity, humbleness, and profound depth is clearly revealed. I feel relieved and excited by the beauty of the trajectory of where realization leads to. Thank you for mapping it out so clearly, Susanne, and for being a living example of Truth. And thank you Renate for interviewing Susanne again!

Such a great interview. I keep coming back to it over the years and have deeper and deeper resonance with the conversation each time. Such a great reminder about how deep this awakening thing goes… keeps me with the orientation of being a spiritual infant with always so much more to unfold in this blooming eternal life!

A most lovely exchange between you both. My rough understanding about all this is that Susanne and others who attain these states are actually accessing the quantum world of particles: photons, quarks, charms etc for unity consciousness. After all, they do comprise everything, from the air we breath to the Taj Mahal to the smallest ant and fingernail. They are connected, through entanglement, showing that everything is at that level. The stage further, which Susanne describes so beautifully here, is the potential wave state which exists before the collapse of the wave function. There are no objects here, or subjects because there is only creativity (potentiality) before the act of creation, before conceptualisation. So of course there would be no one there. The miracle is that experiencing these states is so blissful, so joyous.

I took in so much watching this video. Susanne Marie speaks to those in the process of waking up and to all of us at large. "Embrace yourself as you are," and "Perceive through the heart." She speaks of body intelligence where you "open to directly perceived life without filtering through the mind." And she speaks to that deep longing we feel, that "longing for home" and what that home is. "It's a journey of reconciliation of things we think are outside of ourselves." So beautifully put! Renata asks Susanne Marie "What is sitting in front of me?" Watch to learn the answer. Thank you once again Susanne Marie and Renata!

I've just made a little post on my own page saying - Who would you be without your thought - 'I am feeling bad'? Who would you be without labeling the sensations in your body as this or that?' And then watched this wonderful interview - it was one of those synchronous moments that reflect the ripening of consciousness - an invitation to fall down deeper into the mystery of 'don't know' mind - allowing the body to function without mind's interpretation of what is happening....Beautiful Susanne & Renate. Thank you.

I thought this was a "real" and engaging interview. In particular I like how Susanne presented and projected who she is (or isn't as the case may be) with clarity and "relate-ability." She expressed herself honestly, and with her own vocabulary, which was not meant to be anything other than the revealing of her experience. There was no sense of a conceptual framework of mind or embedded beliefs driving the tale of her journey. I appreciate that she is one of the few out there who can honestly refer to the "no-self" reality beyond unity.

I have been a friend of Susanne's for about 5 years now and she just continues to display the depths of awareness which all of the true Sages of time have passed along to their followers. Those followers in turn, have written books and journals of what was presented to them. We are fortunate to have such a thing as ConsciousTV to help pass this wisdom to all who are ready to hear it. Many thanks for your wonderful programs and for your deep questioning of Susanne! You both appear to have been completely on the same page throughout!

I thought this was a remarkable interview, and different than just about anything else out there. I know Susanne well and have concluded that I’ll never fully understand how she sees the world until I see it that way myself. I probably will eventually, but it might not be this lifetime. All is well and wisely put and things happen when they’re meant to happen.

Hi Soteriologist. Good to hear from you. There's a BatGap community discussion group on Facebook if you'd like to join it. I always appreciated your input. I have Bernadette's books on my shelf, but I don't know when I'll have a chance to read them. Having not read them, I'm not really qualified to comment on your comment, other than to say that I know Susanne well and she's not just appropriating someone else's terminology. We all use terminology we've learned to describe our own experience, and maybe she's doing some of that, but her experience is deep and genuine.

"...different from just about anything out there." Very, very strong words, especially considering that you, Rick Archer BATGAP, wrote it all. I really appreciated Susanne Marie, she is a beautiful example of a deeply realized human being, but I fail to appreciate her as exceptional. Perhaps she is though. Perhaps. Well, this is not the place to debate the issue. I just wanted to express some surprise while also granting that she came across as really authentic, present and lovely.
By the way, keep up your valuable work with BATGAP Rick!

UG Krishnamurtu had a similar experience, it seems. I agree with Renate it is somehow terrifying. Are we all on this path? Or is this the manifestation of their (Suzanne or UG) particular heart's desire? Much love to all.

You two touched on it at the end of this interview and the interview posted in 2013; the spiritual journey starts and finishes in the same place, but it seems that we need to create an ego in order to integrate fully and return. I suppose it is the "dynamic ground" we are returning our ego to, as described by Michael Washburn. Perhaps after integrating with the dynamic ground one can have a complete ego death and the remnants embodied can be all that is required to function in the world? Also, would either of you say that unity conciseness is akin to stream entry, while the no-self attainment is closer to arahantship?

I wonder what she means by, "in a natural kind of way" when Renate asked about self inquiry.

    • @susannemariepresence
      @susannemariepresence 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Hello! What I mean is that if inquiry comes to you in a natural kind of way (rather than by an idea of what you 'should do'), then that is life nudging you in that direction. It is very different than trying to control or push the direction of your path. Life knows what it is doing, and our job is to learn how to listen, then follow direction.

30:30 Susanne seems to describe pretty much what's pointed out in the Bahiya Sutta:
"Then, Bāhiya, you should train yourself thus: In reference to the seen,
there will be only the seen. In reference to the heard, only the heard.
(...) When there is no you in connection with that, there is no you there.
When there is no you there, you are neither here nor yonder nor between the two.
This, just this, is the end of stress."

Enjoyable interview. Another perspective across traditions: In Zen for example, and in the tradition of Ramana Maharshi, what is called "unified mind" is a mark of deepening samadhi or purification of mind, but is just not Realization/enlightenment/satori. Realization is never described as finding oneself "everywhere" or in "things" as such -- only in buddha nature or consciousness. If we fixate on language too much, are we to believe that Ramana Maharshi who spoke in terms of the Self being All, the Consciousness in which all things appear, had failed to realized to enter "no self." No -- the Self genuinely realized is exactly the same as no-self --- where all things are in the Self but the Self is not all things. No separative, mental or energetic notion of self survives at all. One's humanity is then just naturally accepted as it is, for what it is, with no contradiction at all.

Do you mean no-self like explained in Buddhism?
It sounds like unity and no-self are the same thing. There is a form of all-ness or totality that can be described as unity or no-self.
If you mean that there is nothing there, not even a form of spirit, it sounds like nothingness or atheism.
So what do you mean with no-self.....? 🧐🤓

Renate, your approach is gentle but you know how to dig for an answer. Suzanne sidestepped questions you put to her about her own experiences with awakening reverting instead to mundane, catch-all words and phrases from the enlightenment lexicon. She's not awake but she is savvy to saying what sounds plausible. You gave it a good try Renata without sounding at all incredulous of her replies. Thanks for helping us sort the wheat from the chaff.
