    _____
    In 2023 a wonderful Steam Locomotive will celebrate its 100th anniversary. A fascinating Special Edition will be released by Märklin and Trix for H0 gauge.
    It is a name that triggers the imagination - Flying Scotsman was the name of the daily 10:00 AM connection between London and Edinburgh which had been running since 1862. From 1924 London and North Eastern Railway Class A1 Pacific Number 4472 also carried this name. The A1’s were the most powerful locomotives used on the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and were designed by Nigel Gresley its Chief Mechanical Engineer. On February 24, 1923, it went into operation as LNER number 1472, a year later it was given its famous name and it participated as number 4472 in the British Empire Exhibition in London, which increased its recognition enormously.

    Very nice and thanks to Goppingen for choosing the worldwide scale of H0. Please, may we also have some passenger coaches to go behind this loco? Maybe Gresley coaches for a Gresley loco?

    Wonderful. Many British HO modellers will be very pleased with this development, and will ask whether or not other British outline models will follow. Truly a ground breaking model for British Railway Modelling never mind any interest in Europe. Truly amazing, and many congratulations on this one.

    As an Australian modeler I would love to see a version in Apple Green which was the livery it had touring Australia in 1988. I also feel like there would be a great opportunity to make a USA-tour version in HO scale, which a lot of modelers would buy!

  • @iainhenstridge6343

    That looks fantastic. Why we persist with the incorrect OO scale baffles me

    • @Donnie67654
      @Donnie67654 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is mostly because of the mechanisms would be hard to fit into the shells. it is easier for american because of the size. but british which r on average smaller. is much tougher.

      @iainhenstridge6343 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Donnie67654 a few years ago I would have agreed, but these days British N gauge and the new Hornby TT120 range show that sophisticated mechanisms and DCC work perfectly well together. Lima, Fleischmann and Rivarossi all tried to British outline HO in the 1970s, but at that time there was a hostility to non-British products and of course most modellers had grown up with OO. The latest OO models look amazing, even if the Chinese quality is suspect and they’re too easily damaged. But however great they may look, their gauging is 2.33mm too narrow!!
      Too late for me as I have 300+ OO locomotives!

    I have been trying to find a HO rather than OO British Rail carriage without success, which I saw in Stuttgart between 1970 - 73 where it stood at the Hauptbahnhof advertising hoildays in England by train (OO carriages are bigger than HO when in the same train)

    What a fantastic model! Can't wait to run it on my layout! Although i do have one little question regarding the cover, between the cab and tender. At 1:52 you show it turning upwards, almost like a spoiler on a car, While at 6:16 it is shown facing down. Which way will it face on the final model? personally I hope it will be facing down, as I think that looks better and more realistic.

    Finally Marklin is stepping over to the international side instead of reproducing the same locomotive with new tooling etc. I too collect Marklin locomotive, but I am a proud owner of locomotives outside Europe such as the Mikado, UP Alco FA, Big Boy, and UP Gevo ES44 from Trix. I am missing the UP FEF 4-8-4. This is definitely on my list to buy. It would be awesome if they did some N. American style diesel/electric locos like the mighty EMD DD40AX or the EMD SD-70ACE
