Georgia Power Co. No. 97 is a 0-6-0T “Switcher” Tank Engine built by H. K. Porter Co. in 1943 for the US Army Corps of Engineers as number 5050. It was later used by the Georgia Power Company to help with the construction of Plant McDonough, where it did switching service through out the GPC system, until it’s retirement. In 1965, 97 was restored to operation for the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia. Where it ran there until the early 2000s. Today, 97 is awaiting restoration at the museum.
That sounds like a Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia Railroad or a Southern Railway Crosby 3-chime whistle commonly heard on southeastern steam locomotives.
I've just seen it on a visit to the SE RR museum, it seems like it has a good ways to go as it's sitting partially disassembled in a shed at the moment

if im correct i think i saw this locomotive full of rust it was getting scrapped there i think
I could be wrong, but I believe she's in line to be repaired after AWP 290 and SOU 1509.
97 is not going to be scrapped. She is currently disassembled and is waiting for her turn in the shop.
@@duluthdepot6355 So glad to hear that! Any word on 1509?
@@duluthdepot6355oh i thought they were scrapping it, i hope it gets repaired later in the future
