I've been hanging around this channel for awhile now; back before Maleficent, back before Kracken, back before the Wall Map, and I don't believe I've ever seen Liz more enthralled by an artist. The wows, the giggles, the tongue slithers, the goosebumps say it all. I've watched this twenty times and I still get teary-eyed every time. Putri is one of a kind.

As I suspected I have found videos of her reciting the Quran. These memorizers and reciters of the Quran follow rules know to muslims as tajwid or tajweed. It is not easy and even simple recitations that are very common to all muslims work to perfect it. If you wish to know how the tajweed may influence her other singing you can find videos online here in YT. As for how it impacts her heart that is a secret between her and Allah. However, for me and many others the emotional impact of an inspiring recitation is very powerful for many of us. May Allah increase her.

First song was great....second song was otherworldly! Her cheekiness in choosing "Sorry" for the backup song (in your face Simon), and then to pull out all the technical nuances, shaping notes, overtone, changing the volume of single notes in the middle of the note, etc. The girl is a technical singing prodigy....love her covers. Your analysis is, as always, spot on...who are we to even comment on the masters teaching LOL! Great as always.

@@dillah4u And the first song is phenomenal?! What your point. Stevie Wonder was 12 years old when he went famous and he was blind. Ray Charles was blind. Her melodic skills and modulation are just otherwordly. She IS on the level of the artists I just named. You do realize that blind people have an advantage by only using their ears to navigate the world , right? She already play with her hero, David Foster, and trust me. I know this business very well. She will be bigger than Foster, I don't even doubt that one second.

Putri Ariani won Indonesia's Got Talent at age 8 and continues to improve at age 17. She is 10 days older than Angelina Jordan and TH-cam has been flooded with 'comparison' videos. Both are incredibly talented musical artists as well as humble humanitarians. We should never compare one artist to another but rather respect each and every one. I am certain both Putri and Angelina support each other in making their dreams come true. As fans, we are disrespecting our favorite artist if we say unkind things about another artist. We are welcome to have our favorite artists, and the best way to gain new fans for our favorite, is a simple introduction to those who have yet to be blessed hearing them. Simply say, "I greatly enjoy this artists' music and you may like them as well". This allows each person to take their own journey with a particular artist.

I'm not sure that an eight year old is best served by fame. I have commented with very high regard to her singing and playing skills and I don't retract a word. I am simply wondering what degree of exposure to criticism is in the best interest of a child.

@@barrydouglas6276 I can't speak for Putri but with Angelina Jordan, her wise and loving family provided her as normal a childhood as possible. I saw her a few days ago in a AGT compilation and was blown away as well. Especially the second song got to me because we all know that one in one or the other interpretation. But she made it her own in a way as if it just came to her and *had* to be sung that way in the first place. I sencerely hope we'll hear a lot of her in the future and she manages to avoid major influences of some music industry goons who try to "help" her. Regarding the usage of her voice there's definitely no help needed whatsoever. Thank you for covering her perfomance!

@@TiaraDalmeida-hf4zp I just did check out your recommendation. Though I must say that Disney songs in general are a bit too cheesy for my taste this was actually good.
I was more impressed by two other songs that caught my eye and subsequently my ears. Her version of "I will always love you" is almost frightening close to Whitney Houston's version. Simply incredible!
The second one would've immensely pleased Freddie Mercury if he were still alive. Her rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody", recorded two years ago - when she was *15* , is breathtaking.
It's amazing to see that there are so many young and talented artists like her, Angelina Jordan, Daneliya Tuleshova, Diana Ankudinova and not to forget the three amazing sisters from The Warning. I'm feeling a little bit creepy because I'm old enough to be a granddad to some of them - but all of them are a breath of fresh air in todays world of meaningless mainstream music nonsense. So, I've come to terms with that feeling and just enjoy their craft...

@@flamedealership she had little preparation for the David Foster shows. And the fancam audio quality is icky. Imagine if we get the sound directly from the mic. Would be more incredible. This girl is gifted but she was slept on for too long by the Indonesian music industry. Her saying that she received bias for being blind is so true. Because i live in a country next to her and our mother tongues are similar so we are very aware of the artists in Indonesia. Definitely heard of cakra khan, putri never. They gave her no opportunities to perform or cut a record. Only after her exposure at AGR that the locals started swarming her with performance invites (hypocrites much!). Putri belonged on a world stage. She will do well in an intimate concert setting, im sure people will pay good mony to hear her. Her English fluency will help her a lot. Props to her parents for giving up their jobs to nurture her musical talents and schooling her in English even when the industry forgot about her. They never give up.

Let's just say when Elizabeth thinks you are a really good singer then you are a really, really good singer. But let's also remember that Putri composed the lyrics to the first song in a language that is not her primary language (at least to my understanding). With pianoforte she uses the dynamic range of the instrument very adeptly and the slight arpeggiation of some chords reminds me in the best possible way of Billy Joel or Elton John in a bar room mood.

One other aspect of your reaction which I really appreciate is not getting caught up into the contrived actions of Simon, the audience and the general nonsense of what goes on into producing shows like this (like that pregnant pause at the end before the applause). I've watched several of your reaction videos. Unlike the majority of reactors, you get into the fine details of what works and why. It takes a singer to truly appreciate that. The two songs here each tell a story, and Putri seems very adept at this. Storytelling may be her niche. The phrasing and short pauses compel the audience to listen more intently. And the breaking of her voice when entering and exiting notes, especially the drop off of the high head voice note in the first song, add so much emotion to the story. At 17, Putri is a very intelligent vocalist and writer. I'm curious to hear her in 10 years. Excellent reaction video.

I really appreciate hearing why her voice is so amazing and the tiny nuances that I wouldn't have been able to pick up without an expert explaining it. It is like having someone explain all the nuances of a painting and the life of the painter. It really helps me, who had no music growing up and had to train my ear, starting at 19, to be able to tune an instrument. It is fine to listen to older famous singers but I find it more exciting to learn about younger singers early in their careers.

We watched your reaction video last night, and I finally realized why her performance resonated with me so strongly I couldn't stop my weeping - she was singing from the heart of the blues. Her rendition turned it into a blues song, and I was overwhelmed by the passion, soul, and heart she exuded from her frame and the piano. For a 17-year-old to have the blues resonating within like that, you can't help but viscerally react to it on an emotional level like that.

Having lived in Indo for 6 years, I can all but guarantee that she learned/refined her talent from karaoke, is a natural born singer (one of the few lol), and almost all her effort while singing goes into perfecting her sung annunciation of the English language, which I'd give her a 95% on. While our alphabets are the same, in the Indonesian language vowels only have one sound, c is pronounced ch, r's are rolled, as well as many other specifics that she's learned to mostly overcome while she sings.

Gotta be careful with these shows. Particularly that one. They like to stitch fake reactions from the parents into the final cut, and they do actually do a bit of autotune for certain contestants. They also kind of build the character for individuals that sometimes aren't accurate to reality, including if they want to make a joke out of someone. Sometimes the judges act oblivious, when in reality they have seen the contestant on previous years of the show in some cases. Then there's the contestants not having much creative control over what they do on stage, which can really screw things up for them.
But... Putri Ariani is clearly god damn incredible.

There is so many good performances over the years in AGT with some astounding talents in almost all of the Seasons. But this one is very special. Not only do Simon have the idea of sometimes just abruptly stopping the auditions in the middle of a song which must be absolutely nerve wrecking, especially to those that is already nervous to the teeths. I know he mostly means ok because he can feel this person needs to take it 5 - 10 levels up to show their true potential. And uckily she don't break and her own song was actually really good, and then she just blows everyone away with the most astounding version of this Elton John classic and totally makes it her own. I would really like to be a fly on the wall and See Elton's reaction to her version. She is absolutely fantastic, and so pure and unaware of how good she actually is.

    Reaction/Analysis/Deep Dive Request:
As you are a HUGE fan of Queen AND Freddie Mercury, I'm sure that you're WELL aware of the fact that one of the key elements to their sound is the 3-part vocal harmonies of Freddie, Brian May (Lead guitarist) & Roger Taylor (Drummer) (Bass guitarist John Deacon DID NOT contribute vocals in the studio. When performing live, his microphone was almost ALWAYS set to either "LOW" or "OFF". While filming music videos, he would mime his "vocals"). As you have already expressed your opinions and feelings regarding Freddie, I'm surprised that you have YET to do deep dives into the other 2 voices that make their harmonies SO WELL KNOWN and remembered.
Here are 2 Queen songs with Brian and Roger each singing lead vocals, respectively:
"'39": th-cam.com/video/kE8kGMfXaFU/w-d-xo.html (Brian May on lead vocals)
"I'm in Love with My Car": th-cam.com/video/a8EYUKmmnqc/w-d-xo.html (Roger Taylor on lead vocals)
BONUS! As we've already established, with Freddie being Freddie, he was MORE THAN CAPABLE of recording ALL OF THE VOCALS for a song without help from the other members of the band & THIS song is the PERFECT example of that. Brian & Roger ONLY contributed guitar and drums, respectively. (WARNING: Contains false ending, let video play til the end!)
"You Take My Breath Away": th-cam.com/video/v_wLNqUz7pM/w-d-xo.html
