- Continuing my playthrough of Derail Valley on a realistic level of difficulty we will learn about remotely operating switches and take a load of steel up to the Goods Factory. Maybe we will have a look in the shop whilst we are there...

Pure walkthrough by a youtuber who knows, and loves what he is doing. I sincerely hope this series lasts longer than the old derail valley playthrough!
I like to use the EOT lantern since it's helpful when shunting when you can see the red glow appear on the face of the switches which tells you the end of the train is clear of the switch so you can stop and set it
Just a friendly FYI: you don't need to disconnect the loco to turn in a job. You only need all of the cars spotted within the destination track and a handbrake set along one of the cars. 👍
Whenever you start a diesel you incur additional damage over and above the cost of diesel and oils whenever it's running. I've not done the test for some time but it's the equivalent of several minutes idling. If you're just nipping into the station office to pick up another job you may save a little money leaving the engine running.
Huh, didn't know the station office had a light on it's roof, that's good to know
playing it basically since alpha... never knew there is a light... :D
Please keep this series up. I love it.
I love this series already. Thank you for not completely taking out the yard work.
This in depth walkthrough is just what we needed, Please keep rolling out the episodes. Plus what mod is used for the job sorting.
FYI, handbraking the railcar is indeed required to complete a dropoff, but disconnecting it from the loco is not. So long as the cargo is stationary and at least one car is handbraked, you can remain attached to the loco.
Loved your previous Derail Valley videos. Super excited to see a new series with all the new updates and changes. Hoping this one goes a long way!
hey great video, one thing though; you actually don't need to disconnect the consist from the train, you can just tie a brake on each order and turn it in
Love this. Cant wait for the next episode.
Cant wait till you get into steam and give a good explanation, i keep blowing up the S060 lol
She's a handful, but a lot of fun. It might be better to start learning steam on S282 as everything happens slower with bigger engines, giving you more time to react to water levels etc. On S060 you are fine chugging along, then suddenly, the slope changes, you have high fire and poof you're out of water.
this is a great series i have played this game for a long time and i still learned a lot of things
That sure is a lot of fun to watch.
I haven't played in a while and didn't know they added the dispatcher license. That's handy.
Oh Nice last time I watched derail valley was at the very beginning of it all. I’ll be listening to this play trough 😊
Oh boy just saw the last one and here we are what a treat
shame ets2 is no longer being released. i remember the old days of ets2 with stories
I mapped my alpha bravo for throttle brakes and reverse so far it works a treat
Great episode Squirrel. Watched a derail mayhem video yesterday and it was hilarious!!😂
If the DM3 operates like anything close to DTG's iteration of the Class 101 in their Train Sim World series, then it should be a doddle. Of course, I would expect this simulation to be a lot more involved, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.
I don't like the DM3 exaclty because it doesn't operate like the 101 or any other british diesel mechanical I know of, if it did I'd use it a lot more than I do.
For example the Class 03 that it has a strong resemblance to uses a 5 speed manual transmission, the DM3 has two 3 speed gearboxes that that give a total of 8 gears.
I'd say go DM3. It's often called "not beginner friendly" on youtube because of the gearbox, but in my opinion it is very beginner friendly, because it doesn't really depend on inertia go go up the inclines. With the DE2 you need to know where you have to be fast and where there is a sudden slow part (like city southwest...). Beginners don't know that. In a DM3 you'll never fail because you were too slow. Until you know the map, you can go 20 all the time without any problems.
Liking this so far!
5:36 one day they will add run through switches😂
Why you must slow down the train before you hit the speed sign, but you're only allowed to speed up again after the entire composition pass the new speed limit sign?
Waiting for complete walkthrough 😊
DM3 DM3 DM3 :)
How have i never heard of this game
Was it a nice rock you found to live under? :)
It's so good! One of my favorite simulators!
great Video!
can you bring back my summer car lets play series?
7:18 - I never knew locomotives used V engines
The British Class 37 uses a V12
Just about all American locomotives use V12 or V16 engines, and have for many years. Though, I'm not surprised a locomotive as small as DE2 uses only a V6.
Personally I don't like the dispatcher licence , or at least not it's implementation. For switches facing other directions than north , I'm always confused about their position and set them wrong after they were right For example at 14:25 , in my opinion the switch is going to the right according to the icon , when actually it's supposedly on the left/front. I would prefer if the arrow on the map would show the real direction according to the map than having the icon of the switch popping out when hovering over it. So I prefer to change them when I see them , either with the portable remote either with the point switcher that I can fit in the locos.
It's done that way on purpose so you still need to think about it and it doesn't just remove the challenge of switching entirely
@anonymousperson1726 in Trainz for example the map shows the exact direction of the point. Most people that I know playing Derail Valley find this feature confusing. I would say it's enough to think how to put the train on a certain track when delivering multiple consist and the track is occupied.
