- Scorpions newest band member Mikkey Dee was born in Gothenburg, Sweden on this day in 1963. Mikkey joined the band in 2016 after a 23 year stint as Motörhead's drummer.

I was so happy when SCORPIONS announced that the LEGENDARY Mikkey DEE was the group's new drummer. While James KOTAK is a talented rock drummer, I found that James extraverted personality wasn't a good fit for SCORPIONS personality-wise. Mikkey DEE is a perfect fit musically and personality-wise. Mikkey is GREEK/SWEDISH; Pavel is POLISH; and Klaus/Rufolf/Matthias are German, so they're all European. Mikkey DEE has rejuvenated SCORPIONS. Mr. DEE's talents and gifts on the drums have elevated the already MIGHTY SCORPIONS. Your music has brought me so much happiness since 1984 when I discovered your beautiful music with 'Love At First Sting'. Long live SCORPIONS, and your melodic and inspirational music.
He's the only valid reason to see Scorpions live.
