- ONE WEEK before we take off, overlanding across the USA, through 25 states, in this beast of a Can Am X3.
Just gotta tweak the nine gallon #AGM auxiliary fuel tank installation and throw the dry bags with camping gear on the roof.
Gonna load the daily videos of the trip here - 45 or so days of em and SOMEWHERE around 10,000 miles, from Phoenix, AZ to the Canadian border in Maine, then west, back across to Arizona by way of the Michigan UP and the Badlands of South Dakota, with a stop at Sturgis, just because.
Also created a Facebook group specifically for the trip:

Okay. No gussets from the onset seems to be detrimental. I have had the CT brace on mine (17) since they released it. I like the bumps and have not had the front plastic off since the cage. Might be time to take a look.
Btw the Canada car shot was great.
That thing looks sick af. I'm coming up just wait! I love everything about that rig dude. Questions. How much you weigh? Engine tune? And what rack on top did you use?
Thanks! It’s HEAVY - ABOUT 3,500 pounds fully loaded with me, hounds, fuel, and gear.
The chassis has a LOT of extra steel welded in to beef it up - SEEMS to be holding up alright.
CT Raceworx in North Carolina did the chassis, cage, and the roof rack.
Who makes the sun visors and your thoughts?
Assault makes the front one - assaultind.com/products/assault-industries-tinted-v2-sun-visors-set-of-2
And Axia Alloys makes the side one - axiaalloys.com/product/12-wide-sun-visor-tinted-shield/
The Assault Ones are heavier duty and a BIT less expensive, but either gets the job done just fine.
@@alroden6802 Thank you. Enjoy watching your long journeys with your dogs.
One other question. I know you replaced your chassis at CT. Did you have the front end gusseted the majority of the time with the original chassis?
The machine had zero gusseting through 8,000 miles, when the first chassis cracks started appearing on the rear trailing arm mounts.
Front end didn’t get gusseted up until about 3,500 miles before the chassis swap - welded in gussets and repaired the cracks so I could drive it to CT in North Carolina from Phoenix.
After the chassis swap, there were no visible cracks or damage to the old 26,000 mile chassis, so the gussets and previous repairs were holding together okay when it got swapped.
How many miles on your can am ?
(Updated 01/01/25) It’s got about 73,000 miles on it now - planning another 5,000 or so for this Fall IF it holds up.
@@alroden6802wow 75k miles on a x3 does it still work well
It’s still running good - gonna need a little TLC soon…have go through the clutch again since it’s getting a little sticky…
Also broke the front sway bar - links are okay, but the actual sway bar broke. And it needs new boots on the bal joints.
But it’s still GO’N!
