Koyasan (Japan) Unforgettable visit of a sacred site

Koyasan is a sanctuary and a place of pilgrimage. It houses an incredible necropolis, the Okuno-in with 200,000 graves. Pilgrims and visitors come each year to meditate before the mausoleum of Kobo-Daishi, the famous monk who built this sanctuary (almost) out of the world.
Danjo Garan is a complex of sacred temples.The magnificent Kongobuji temple shelters the largest rock garden in Japan.
Koyasan was founded 1,200 years ago and now has around 100 temples, 52 of which provide accommodation. Many visitors come to spend the night in a monastery. Indeed, being hosted in these "shukubo", temple-inns, is an unforgettable experience.
