Yes it is motorable and there is only one route. When traveling from Kaza towards Tabo, there comes Atargoo bridge and you need to take right on that bridge, cross the river and continue into Pin Valley road.
Manali is mostly pleasant weather in October, it is not that cold. However, if you are asking Spiti then up there it starts to get to sub-zero at nights and early mornings.
Dheeraj bhai please answer these as we are traveling on first week of August. 1. For staying in hotels or homestays in Narkanda, Sangla, Nako and Kaza, does negative covid report required? 2. Can we get hotel or homestays after arriving those places? I mean without prior booking?
1. There is no need of RT PCR report in Himachal to enter or stay at any hotels. 2. Mostly, yes, you will be able to get them on the spot. If you are not driving yourself, the local taxi driver can help you a lot in getting great deals on spot.

We love to travel. 2. Is it okay for them to go to Chadratal lake. 3. Which side will you prefer in october mid from shimla or manali. 4. I have Scorpio N but not 4 by 4 . The road from Kaza to Manali may not open early May but may open by middle of May. Delaying by a week or two will increase the chances of that road being open more likely

I live in North Bengal and i only get holidays during Durga puja festival which is mid October, should i plan for spiti bike trip including chandratal in mid October?
Antu, you can do it but I will suggest that you do the Manali Kaza road early in the plan and follow the Itinerary 1 in this video so that you do the risky section of the trip earlier in the October. Secondly, you should go prepared for cold conditions as nights will have sub-zero temparatures.

Sir my friend hv a one major problem to go to the Leh-Ladakh. He has a SUV Bolero camper (HP yellow plate). We want to go to the Pang-Gong in our SUV but we hv yellow plate. Is it possible to go to the Pang-Gong with Himachal yellow plate. Bcoz we are not carrying any kind of tourists & any taxi activities. We are only frnd cercle but the problem is only yellow palte. Currently I am not sure if it will be 3 to 4 people or just 1 guy with me in the trip. If it's 3 to 4 people I will go ahead with the self drive car as per the itinerary you specified however if it will be just 1 guy with me it may get a bit hectic to drive through this entire circuit of 1200 kms. In that case am considering Lahaul valley as an alternate to Spiti. I can to to Manali in volvo from Chandigarh and then may be hire a car or bike to explore Lahaul valley which is relatively easily accessible and at much shorter distance. Question is will exploring Lahaul only excluding spiti be a good idea ? Is Lahaul as scenic as spiti ? Are there places to explore ?? Sorry for the trouble but would really appreciate your response here
No permit needed. If you are visiting Chandratal, apply for the chandratal ePass online but rarely anyone checks it, just a trivial formality better complete the form and leave no room for hassle.

So by bus how should I go : any bus between keylong to batal or I have to reach first at manali then batal to kaza bus.. & I'm reaching keylong on 2nd October.. So manali to spiti Valley bus service running in October Or I have to go to all the way to shimla then spiti Valley.. Too much confusion
Usually the bus run but they have suspended the service owing to snowfall and unsafe driving conditions for bus. You can get the shared local jeeps running between Kaza and Keylong
Shimla to Reckong Peo you will het the bus and then Reckong Peo to Kaza bus runs almost all around the year barring when the road gets closed by heavy snowfall for few days or weeks. In October you will get the bus
I don't think taking a detour to Chandratal is a good option on the way to spiti valley.. the night sky in chandratal is exceptionally beautiful...it is something more than just a tourist point, And if Himalayas makes you crazy, there are many but we must and must visit Stok-Langza-Sandakphu and Namche Bazaar in our lifetime .. Absolutely bhai, I completely agree. The itinerary as you know is one of the 4 I have shared and people should only opt for not sleeping at Chandratal in some very valid case when they don't want to start the trip from Shimla side. Even from Manali side, if they are returning, much better to stay at Chandratal while returning to avoid AMS.

Yes Arti, that is completely possible. In fact the high villages were famous for the High Village treks, you can hitch hike to anyone of them from Kaza and then from there Day hikes others too. Of course when you have to travel to far off places like Dhankar - Pin Valley or Tabo you will have to use public transport or shared local jeeps or hitch hikes

Maine abhi Spiti mein call karke confirm kiya hai locals se ki koi aisa rule nahin hai ki aap Chandratal se Rohtang hote hue Manali nahin ja sakte ho.. mujhe nahin pata aapko kisne wrongly guide kiya hai… agar kisi maintenance day k din nahin jaane diya hoga to vo temporary hoga but koi permanent rule nahin hai aisa. Aapko Chandratal jaane k liye jarur ek permit apply karna hota hai but wahan se Rohtang ya Kaza ya Atal Tunnel jaane k routes par koi permit nahin hai.. haan manali taxi walon ne outside taxis bandh kardi hain Rohtang Pass par is saal par ye sirf taxis par apply hota hai aur ye rule bhi abhi aaya hai.. aap private car bike manali taxi sabhi se travel kar sakte ho agar koi authentic source of information hai aapk pass to plz share karein mere saath taaki main apni knowledge ko bhi up to date kar sakun us se… also bhai saying “wrong” information and saying “not up to date” information are two very different things….

Jitu bhai your plan is good and you can rent bike from Shimla and return in Shimla or rent from chandigarh and return there, it will be better.

The road from Kaza to Manali may not open early May but may open by middle of May. Delaying by a week or two will increase the chances of that road being open more likely

HI Dheeraj, Amazing Video. Need your inputs on few things. We are planning to travel from Shimla and exit in Manali. We have a friend who is Japanese but she does have Aaddhar Card and work documents with her. Do we still have to take permission at Reckong Peo to enter Spiti for her and go?
As far as I know because she is an international citizen, she will have to go through the Inner Line PErmit process for foreginers to enter Spiti Valley

I live in North Bengal and i only get holidays during Durga puja festival which is mid October, should i plan for spiti bike trip including chandratal in mid October?
Antu, you can do it but I will suggest that you do the Manali Kaza road early in the plan and follow the Itinerary 1 in this video so that you do the risky section of the trip earlier in the October. Secondly, you should go prepared for cold conditions as nights will have sub-zero temparatures.

My pleasure buddy.. Now, Dzire will struggle between Manali Kaza. Unless you are very good driver in those road conditions, it may have scrapes in the underbelly hits for sure

Sir my friend hv a one major problem to go to the Leh-Ladakh. He has a SUV Bolero camper (HP yellow plate). We want to go to the Pang-Gong in our SUV but we hv yellow plate. Is it possible to go to the Pang-Gong with Himachal yellow plate. Bcoz we are not carrying any kind of tourists & any taxi activities. We are only frnd cercle but the problem is only yellow palte. So how can i go there in our yellow nmbr plate SUV(Bolero Camper).

One last question. Currently I am not sure if it will be 3 to 4 people or just 1 guy with me in the trip. If it's 3 to 4 people I will go ahead with the self drive car as per the itinerary you specified however if it will be just 1 guy with me it may get a bit hectic to drive through this entire circuit of 1200 kms. In that case am considering Lahaul valley as an alternate to Spiti. I can to to Manali in volvo from Chandigarh and then may be hire a car or bike to explore Lahaul valley which is relatively easily accessible and at much shorter distance.
Question is will exploring Lahaul only excluding spiti be a good idea ? Is Lahaul as scenic as spiti ? Are there places to explore ??

No permit needed. If you are visiting Chandratal, apply for the chandratal ePass online but rarely anyone checks it, just a trivial formality better complete the form and leave no room for hassle.

Usually the bus run but they have suspended the service owing to snowfall and unsafe driving conditions for bus. You can get the shared local jeeps running between Kaza and Keylong

the night sky in chandratal is exceptionally beautiful...it is something more than just a tourist point,
And if Himalayas makes you crazy,
there are many but we must and must visit Stok-Langza-Sandakphu and Namche Bazaar in our lifetime ..

Absolutely bhai, I completely agree. The itinerary as you know is one of the 4 I have shared and people should only opt for not sleeping at Chandratal in some very valid case when they don't want to start the trip from Shimla side. Even from Manali side, if they are returning, much better to stay at Chandratal while returning to avoid AMS.

Yes Arti, that is completely possible. In fact the high villages were famous for the High Village treks, you can hitch hike to anyone of them from Kaza and then from there Day hikes others too. Of course when you have to travel to far off places like Dhankar - Pin Valley or Tabo you will have to use public transport or shared local jeeps or hitch hikes

Aapko Chandratal jaane k liye jarur ek permit apply karna hota hai but wahan se Rohtang ya Kaza ya Atal Tunnel jaane k routes par koi permit nahin hai.. haan manali taxi walon ne outside taxis bandh kardi hain Rohtang Pass par is saal par ye sirf taxis par apply hota hai aur ye rule bhi abhi aaya hai.. aap private car bike manali taxi sabhi se travel kar sakte ho
