Thank you for your words Dan. My mother is a black female sergeant for the police department in my city, and has over 30 years of service. She was working during the protests there, and she said that the majority of people there were peaceful and do want actual change, while only a small minority were trying to cause chaos. She’s tired of seeing people that look like her and her family members and friends being murdered, and after she retires she wants to work on mentoring and building better relationships within her community.
Long time fan, not only is this refreshing this was surprising. To take over 5 minutes to talk about what’s actually happening is amazing. Much love man. Thank you for using your platform in a positive way.
Massive respect to you Dan. As a fellow white guy, it is hard to know sometimes what to do and how to help the most in this situation. You are awesome.
This is why I have long been and will always be a huge fan of Dan's. It's not just for his deep love of movies and great insights on them. It's because he is such a caring, thoughtful, good person. That fundamental, honest decency shines through in absolutely everything that he does. Dan, thank you so much for what you said today. Everyone else, please take the time to listen to it.
As a black person it really does help to see so many people that I follow and kinda look up to online speaking out in support. Sometimes it feels like the whole country is against us, but it's never long before support comes and I'm reminded that this country still can be what I once thought it was, and the fight is not for nothing.
If you're taking requests, please review "Do the Right Thing", "Fruitvale Station", "Selma", "BlacKkKlansman", "Monsters and Men", "If Beale Street Could Talk", "Us", "The Last Black Man in San Francisco", and "Waves". For many years, black directors were denied a place in the industry, and being an advocate means spotlighting the talented individuals in their respective industries that are overlooked or prevented from success because of their race or gender. We're beginning to see this change, however, as the box office tends to favour large-scale spectacles over smaller character studies and social commentary, these films still deserve a wider audience.
I've seen most of those films, reviewed a few of them in my previous years as a critic, and plan to spotlight Do the Right Thing in the first batch of classics videos I'm developing. All of those of are works worthy of a much wider audience, I agree.
I figured you would have seen them, but didn't know you'd reviewed them already. Was this at Screen Junkies or elsewhere? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Another movie that is somewhat in the ball game of Do The Right Thing would have to be La Haine directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, that deals with racial and class inequalities in France (living there ain't no pick-nick either for POC's it seems)
Dan. I appreciate the concise and supportive message you're presenting today. Having your own channel, without corporate oversight, has really opened up your ability to speak more openly about these issues. And as a fellow straight, white, male... I love your content without these real-world addedums. I'm additionally PROUD to follow and support you because of the message you're speaking for today.
Thank you for taking the time to speak on the issues and share your heart and opinions and for making the distinction between the protesters and the agitators. Thank you for sharing literature and resources to help us be more educated on issues and the links for the various places we can donate. This type of discourse is what is needed. I don't usually comment on videos, but I know it helps the algorithm and I appreciate you speaking up and not acting like there's nothing going on in the country. I'm glad you posted a charts video because it's a much needed break.
Yes sometimes it bothers me when certain channels speak about current affairs, but, big BUT, I honestly appreciate how you have done so Dan. Beyond just speaking about your opinion you have shed the light on areas that need to be focused. Not only that, whether it's just the way you speak or your word choice it never feels like you are forcing people to join your opinion. You simply believe in this and want to make certain a respectable amount of time is focused on them. Plenty of news stations could learn from how you portray these stories. Thank you and please continue to be you.
I've followed Dan for about 5 years now and from the bottom of my heart I want to say THANK YOU DAN for continuously being a model for what a stand up guy really is. We need voices like yours to make a lasting change and reading through these comments and watching the protests have given me hope that this time will be different and things will take a step forward in the right direction.
I wholeheartedly agree. That was a great insight. And it's really tragic that the news media mostly show the looters, and not the peaceful protesters......
Thank you Dan, a well spoken, concise and supportive message that I always can count on, this is why i'm a fan, you're a positive influence when absolutely needed, and a young black male, I thank you once again for addressing this. Appreciate it.
Thank you, Dan, for using your platform and your voice to highlight the racial injustices that have been occurring in this country for centuries. #BlackLivesMatter

Not trying to be rude but I just don't get this mentality. There's plenty of great content creators that have gained their audience and popularity by not mentioning politics or national issues at all because that's just not what they do. Cinemassacre is a great example of this. They never really mention any current news and I like that. They talk about movies and videogames. It's a nice escape from the news and current events. Anyone should voice their opinions or mention national issues if they want too. I know these protests are important but not everyone should mention it. I think it's weird to unsub or not follow a good content creator because they didn't mention somthing that has nothing to do with their content. It's cool Dan felt compelled to say somthing but I don't think its required as his channel is all about movies. If anything its more surprising for him to mention it at all. I mean if Dan hosted a political channel then I would be shocked if he didn't mention it.

Best way to respectfully open the show, Dan. Well done!
Best Dan Rant ever.
Thank you for using your platform to highlight the voices of those out there in the fight and not just trying to go the white savior route.
And thanks for the small distraction of doing the Charts
Thank you. Love you, brother. Glad you’re on the right side.
Sending love from Japan. Black Lives Matter. Power to the people.

Thank for Dan for your kind words and insight. And for the numbers. I forgot about the world for a bit.
That was sweet. Thanks Dan.
I love Twister and have watched it with my 15 and 8 year old. Keeping the Twister love alive.
Thank you for the thoughtful and impactful prologue Dan. It means a lot.
Glad you used your platform brother.
I so appreciate your thoughtful introduction. You’re a man of integrity and I’m proud to be a fan and supporter of you all of these years.
Everyone has a right to their opinion. And this is your platform to express yourself. Thank you for still doing your show. Other TH-cam channels I follow have decided to just take the week off.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your words on those who devalue these events for personal gain and rebel rousing.
Thank you Dan, big & I appreciate you being who you are
Kudos for speaking up Dan!! Much necessary. Also a jewel when you said Jaws made a splash at the box office (and laughed to yourself)
Great speech at the beginning Dan! Thanks for your great content. I will hopefully be going to a peaceful protest on Wednesday to support my fellow Americans. Also I saw Selma about a month ago, it was a very powerful and timely movie that I hope more people will check out
Great video Dan! I love how you tackle a tough issue and avoid any biases whatsoever. You’re the man!
Thank you Dan for using your platform to share this, especially the donation links and the film recommendations. Watching films like 13th helped educate me, and open my heart more. Please keep talking about this, please keep listening to black voices.
When your favorite movie critics / pundits make more thoughtful, composed statements about what's going on than the country's supposed leadership. Thank you Dan.
This was outstanding, Dan. Thank you from Minneapolis.
