@ohwellwhateverr 100 % agree; couldn’t take my eyes off Frusciante throughout. He was in the deepest rhythmic connection with Flea & Chad, so his solo worked a dream. Great to see, it really was.
@rawGuitarJams How he does that in a stadium with an audience of 50K is beyond my rational understanding. I think that’s why I chose to describe the solo as transcendent - he transcends the mundane reality of the gig and takes us along with him for a rollercoaster of a ride to Planet Frusciante 🤩

@@erikmoffett3112 LIVE guitarist. I'm talking about his improvised playing.. This solo, literally any semi-experienced guitar player on the planet can play this (especially 2:40 onwards) , there's no melody, or imagination, or theory, it's just noise. Imagine if you took away the distortion, it would highlight how sloppy it is... If you're a good guitarist, I dare you to disagree with me on that?? This is what most of his solos are when playing live. The riffs he created in the studio over the years are legendary, hence him and the band being so popular. That's an entirely different different argument
@@JMcKaySV I find myself ambivalent about your comment. I’m sure there are live guitarists out there who can play creatively and have great improvisational technique when soloing. Comparing one to the other is subjective and exhausting; probably such comparisons never change minds or opinions. With Frusciante I can’t really separate his live playing from the totality of his achievement as an artist. To me he’s the real deal - an immensely creative, intelligent musician who isn’t showy, who keeps himself as grounded as possible. On stage he’s always professional, but he’s said himself at times he doesn’t ’feel it’. I respect that honesty and know myself that some live shows are great, just a few are outstanding. In stadium gigs musicians are under extraordinary pressure - stadiums are not the best environments for great soloing. Here in Glasgow Frusciante may not have been perfect, however his heart & soul connection with his music and the audience were a hundred percent clear, and that’s why I named this solo as transcendent.
@JMcKaySV I'm not a guitarist, but I can feel what instrument players express through their instruments. It's not the difficulty of what JF plays, it's the way he play it. It's and authentic flowing feeling that you can feel. JF have a unique way of playing, that can make something simple, feel awesome. I understand your POV, more technichal, but It's just that; your POV. I think that happens something similar with Rick Rubin, that work intuitively, more than technichal, and he's is criticized for some technical people, but the results speak for themselves. He make a really good job and just SELLS, because emotions at the end of the day, always win against logical. Those guys when doing their thing, are connected with the source.
