You have killed two birds with one stone! Thank you SO much! I have literally been reading Omniscient Narrated/POV books because my whole first, rough-draft of my novel is head hopping. I didn't know it was so taboo. Now I have to do an entire rewrite and specirically seeking out these types of novels. And I seem to have already been doing this IRAC method without even knowing. Thank you again! I love your channel! ❤💋

Great video! One issue I have in my own writing is description. There is the "show don't tell" advice that best sellers always talk about. For example, I think that Dean Koontz is a master with description, regardless of the actual story. One has to be able to describe a scene, the environment that truly makes it real for the reader and Koontz skill with this is impeccable (just my opinion). When I'm writing, I strive for this but it's a struggle to reach that level. Any advice?

The issue of head hopping is exactly what I needed to smooth out. My novel, which is written in first-person omniscient, has multiple character perspectives. I was worried the reader might get confused because of it, but this video makes everything clearer.

Hey Michael. I just found your channel and love not just your advice, but also your analysis and examples showing how we writers can understand and utilise your advice. Thank you for a great video. My beta readers mentioned head-hopping in my first draft. Now I know how yo make it less obvious. Thank you.

9:00 It's something someone said in a video once, but I personally consider that it only counts as head-hopping if it's bothersome, otherwise it's just a change or many changes in POV. But I see what you mean - just wanted to point out people might not use that term the same way you do
Can I just say, I went to download my copy of the book and the note about emails getting kidnapped is adorable even more than it is hilarious

Great video. Very informative. Would you consider making a video on Prologue? If they are necessary or not?

Patrick O'Brian is a master of this. Between Jack and Stephen, and other characters.

Hi. I'm Indian, living in New Delhi. Of course my language is Hindi and during school days and latter in life before stated working I wrote in Hindi but unfortunately then I started working in US onboard ships and connection to Hindi was lost and English I knew just to communicate. Now after 20 years ,in this Corona time when you have nothing to do other them remembering what not done in so many meaningless years. So I came back to writing but all Hindi novels industry has diminished because of Internet, you tube ,there is no readership left . I realise now, if I have to tell the story ,it must be in English. English novels here are booming and the readership is endless. But my english is not natural ,its not easy for me..any advise for me ?

Sorry - head hopping is not a technique. It’s a need when the writer cannot fully describe the plot from one point of view.
