Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

as an ex-dutchie of 5 years, I can confidently say the main reason we were all so happy is we made anywhere from $25-35 an hour to make coffee 😳

@@joannm.1756 Yup $15 base wage then on average $10-15 an hour in tips, and on holidays or promo shifts you could sometimes see up to $20 an hour in tips. I really don't even wanna know how much management makes lmao

The owner/founder seemed like a sincere, genuine peace and happiness type hippie like dude who cared about the product, staff, and customers (didn't seem disingenuous) and the coffee looked good and staff seemed nice.

Is the pay? Is it the behind the scenes perks only employees know about? Is it an "acceptable" level of fun other drive thru places can't ever have? Even if tired and sleepy from night before like any person with a job how do they get so peppy and cheery! They truly are the best! In my opinion they taste like Bloomingdale's and Starbucks taste like Walmart in comparison! Starbucks frozen drinks are full of ice and DB is not that way! Like $20 for 2 large drinks *pricy in my opinion but you get that you pay for*! This video could not have been more accurate about the service, attitude and treatment from their employees! Maybe they have a treat customers like crap and we deduct your pay in a contract or something....lol I mean just blown away I can go to 5 locations in 3 states and NEVER HAVE A PERSON SERVE ME WITH A CRAPPY ATTITUDE! JUST AMAZED! Oh yeah...the extra cost that they charge for the drinks is charging me extra for the peppy good service! In that case, we'll worth the extra charge!
My husband is Dutch, we just got a Dutchbros around the corner from us, he goes there and speaks Dutch to them, but no one understands. 🤷♀️ 😂

It’s part of the job! You have to ask questions and remember them, be genuine in all walks of your life/job! Because no one likes getting asked the same thing by someone you see daily and them not retaining your answers! In the handbook/on the quizzes it says “don’t ask a question unless you’re genuinely interested and will remember the answer”! I love working for a company that is alllllllll about their custies!
I pulled up to dutch bros the other day, they asked me my name and asked if I wanted to take a shot of nitro cold brew with the whole staff, I said yes, they announced my name to the staff they all cheered and said my name and we took the shot together.... coolest coffee drive through experience ever.
Yeah we do this sometimes lol! I work at a Dutch bros, and it’s part of the culture/employee tradition to do shots of something occasionally. If we’re really busy though and there’s no down time to do it in, we’ll wait until a chill looking customer comes up and invite them to participate. It’s fun!
They're peppy - but they're also super amazing people. My husband and I would get DB to celebrate things (anniversary, birthday - gotta get your free one!, etc) and it was fun when we would get the really outgoing ones and he'd make them laugh as much as they'd try to make us laugh. Well... he has passed away and I've been working hard to move forward. I had to get a new job (because of covid) and worked hard - eventually got a promotion I didn't think I'd get (because I still have PTSD, anxiety, and depression from his passing). So while I was driving home, I couldn't stop crying. I had come up to a DB so I thought it best to pull off the road and get a coffee as a 'celebration' but mostly because I needed to center myself. I ordered at the window and the broista asked me how my day was. So I told her - I just got a promotion and I was struggling with the bitter sweetness of it because I'm happy, but at the same time the one person I want to tell, I can't because he passed away a year ago... so I stopped in because I figured it would be something he'd want me to do. She congratulated me on the promotion, handed me my coffee and then refused to take my card for payment saying she got it.
Yeah. They're a group of peppy people... but they're way more than that. I don't know of any other chain that would do that.
Sry for your loss. Just keep going. Eventually things will get better. Stay strong and just keep doing what your doing. If you don't have a dog a dog will definitely help. Rescue one from the pound. Pound dogs are the best so full of love and happiness. GOD bless.

Same!! When my depression is hitting hard and my spouse, father in law and I go to Dutch Bros I always feel a bit better after. Dutch Bros employees are like a nice ray of sunshine to our family.

I got hired their as an introvert and it was painful watching other employees force conversations, but don't roll up your window though that was the worst, for me it was not hard to see people don't want conversations and leave them alone

I live in Oregon. Dutch Brothers started in Grants Pass, Oregon. They are everywhere here. I love my local DB. The employees are chill and aren't over the top at mine. I can't handle a lot of their drinks...too much sugar. However, they customize my drinks to whatever I want and have a lot of sugar free options. My boys like to collect their stickers and they are always so sweet to my kids.
My go-to is always just get a cold brew with cream. If I want some sweetness - cold brew with soft top. Want it hot? Cold brew toasted. If I ever get the want for one of their specialty drinks - I always order it half-sweet.
Or just buy the beans and make it at home. ;)

Yup! I too am a proud member of the Dutch Mafia from living in Oregon, way back in 2007. When we moved, trying to find good coffee and friendly service again SUCKED. Thankfully, DB has come to Arizona and there's one 7 miles from my house. I'm drinking an iced Carmelizer as I type this! LOVE DB!

@@willowbrooks nope. They just don’t have regular drip coffee machines. They only have espresso drinks. But an Americano espresso drink is the closet you can get to a cup of coffee from a coffee pot. No instant coffee or espresso ☕️

As worker for 2 years at Dutch I am say I am like that. I used to rap peoples drinks too when they order which made their day. A lot of people came for the interaction and smiles and I loved it. Those where some great times I Dutch I miss it sometimes 😂🎉❤

@@justachonkyspider as an employee myself currently, the work environment just puts you in a positive mood! It’s hard to be upset or tired while you’re there. The music is really loud and upbeat so you can scream lyrics while you work! You also have tons of caffeine available so that helps lol. And there’s no coworker drama in my stand. Everyone likes each other and is hyping each other up always. When we mess up we just say “it’s okay don’t worry! And make a new drink. It’s so fun

My aunt and uncle lived in Grants Pass so my family has gone to the original Dutch Bros kiosk since about the time it opened. I literally watched it franchise across Oregon. The baristas back then certainly didn't act like that but maybe all the sugar has altered the brand over the years.

I get Dutch Brothers about...four times a week; Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I take my dogs there and my dogs love them, because of how well the people there treat them. 9 times out a 10, they kids at Dutch Brothers are super nice and polite. I don't go to Starbucks enough to say for sure, but its like flipping a coin on whether you're going to get someone that doesn't care or someone that just wants to go home and cry. Plus, the coffee at Dutch Brothers is so good!

Dutch Bros is great! i go every weekend with my two Dobermans and they treat them like big babies, they know their names, and even give me pup cups with their name written on it. You cannot have a bad day after going there. I literally loved this sketch though, so spot on!!

I’m from the area where Dutch Bros started, and this has been our reality for years lmao. It’s been really fascinating watching them grow into this huge brand, and seeing how people in other parts of the country have reacted to the, uhh, “Dutch” way of customer service.

Had a customer ask me one day how Dutch Bros trained us to be happy and social. I told him we were hired that way and that very little of it was training. Man was flabbergasted.

I live in Oregon, and have been going to Dutch Bros since they started. I love this place and have met dozens of great Broistas. They are all awesome people. I'm 67 and I always look forward to my visits and was anxious to buy stock when it was available.
I love my local Dutch bros now am on first name basis and they already know my order. It's a party everytime 😂
So I took a trip up to Oregon years ago and had never heard of a Dutch Bros because they were only in Oregon at the time. Decided to try it and the people were so nice! They found out we were just in town for a wedding and it was our first time trying their coffee so they gave us our drinks for free. Needless to say we went to Dutch Bros every morning on that vacation. Fast forward YEARS later and Dutch Bro’s finally opened in my state and I was so excited! I can not stand them anymore! Wtf are you yelling at six in the morning before I’ve had my coffee? I always leave wanting to punch them in the face plus the drinks are way to sweet I can never make it through an entire one. But dude dad made that look fun 😂

Dutch Bros is awesome! He did nail it though LOL I think that having extra given in the customer service department is foreign to so many. The first one I went to was when my mom was in the hospital. Long story short, the night before my mom made the decision to turn off the machines, I stopped for a coffee. They asked questions, as they do. I was honest that day had been pretty bad and briefly said why. The guy bought my coffee and prayed with me! I mean, who does this? It created a loyal customer though. He genuinely took the time to be kind. The world needs more joy and less robots and unhappy employees in the world. Way to go Dude Dad! Knocked it out of the park!

Give them another chance...tell the person taking your order about your first experience. You'll know if they are good if they make up for it. And thanks about my mom.
