Perfect example of a game where the knight is much more worthy than a bishop. It often happens in the Kalashnikov, even in games with low rated players as I am. Beautiful instructive video.
The emphasis on description and explanation, sounds like all your wonderful videos. Great to see a more strategic win from Ivanchuk. Thanks Daniel and keep up the good work.
Your videos on Sicilian-Kalashnikov variation have inspired me to switch from a Sicilian-Kan player as black(have also tried the Najdorf). I am planning to buy the book soon and start using this variation as my main response to 1.e4 going forward
I own BOTH the Chessable course AND the book. Recommend both! You can't go wrong choosing either. As for the game, very nice win by Chuky. I have to admit, I have a bias for Vasil. Whenever I'm looking for an answer to a opening I look to see what he plays. For some reason, I end up liking the variations he chooses a lot. Yes, I understand Ivanchuk plays A LOT of variations. However, I tend to see him playing variants that are a little offbeat. Yet, they are very sound. Several of the openings I play as black are from games that Ivanchuk won over very good players like Magnus and others in the top 50. And as a Kalashnikov player, if Chuky approves that's just further confirmation I made the right choice! Thanks for presenting the game, GM King!
A nice match, like a 4 plate menu. Games like this are rare to see from the newer chess generations. Those were Soviet style fought chess games, played till only few figures left. Great one Daniel San. I still wonder why You Tube holds your channel under 100.000 followers. Just from my feeling you should have 0.5 Mio followers. Anyway I look forward to learn a few moves from your teaching, I try to lift me up from my ca. 1500 strength, not so easy after devising your brain with hard dr.gs for 25 years; but I am positive to go up if I truly try, as it is at last always a matter of proudness, if you a true player(player in all, cards, video games etc etc) the healthy egoism to don't get beaten by nobody or nothing. Chess is a good way to calm your aggression down, that's why I like it.
As somebody who prefers physical copies of almost everything, I'm definitely more of a book man myself. Whenever I find a video that has some info I want, I end up handwriting it down anyway.
15:43 'I think black is already lost here', I beg to differ :P. Is there a word in English for the speaking equivalent of typo? A speako? You book is on my wish-list because of this video. :)
Genuine question, Daniel. Why isn't this played more frequently at the highest level i.e. in the Candidates/World Championship etc.? Is it merely a question of trend/fashion? Looks like something Nepo or Alireza would enjoy playing
1. magnus, radjabov, maghsodloo have all played kalashnikov at very highest level 2. the rossolimo is more popular nowadays at elite level against 2.nc6 3. the kalashnikov is not the objectively best sicilian, doesnt mean its unsound still

Thank you!
I like Ivanchuk so much, one of my favorite players, he has such an elegant and creative way of playing

Thank you!
Good illustration of why, when learning an opening you don't know already, sometimes it is best to start with the endgame.

Really good illustration of the system work. Clear explanation. And GG
Thanks Daniel, great video. Cheers
IVANCHUK'S PERSONALITY AT THE CHESSBOARD IS LIKE BEING ALWAYS THE MAIN ACTOR OF THE MOVIE, AND HIS OPPONENT THE SECONDARY ONE.
Great analysis again 👏👏👏
Feels great seeing strong beautiful knights in a game!

Brilliant book....Real chess,with a book.
The book looks beautiful.
I’m very pleased with the layout and design - nothing to do with me, obviously.
I’m now on vacation, when I’m back home , I definitely wil buy it .
That looks like one beautiful hardback!
Using computer is great sometimes, but I feel that generally better is to sit and read and play over the game on a real board with physical pieces.

I want to buy your book and just become a Kalashnikov one trick.

@@mossps8884 Thanks. I know they have played it occasionally but never consistently, probably because of your point 3.
After black plays Bg5, Bxg5 Qxg5 instead of o-o by white, why not Nc7 Ra7 Qxd6 ?
Books are better for retention.
