EXACTLY or at least have the graduation at a college facility, an indoor facility, maybe even a church. This is disappointing
My daughter's dad drove grom Detroit had a pink ticket and still didn't get in. This is unacceptable and needs to be corrected. This could have worked if someone had a plan for overflow. The gym or cafeteria should have been utilized in some type of way. These poor babies started their Freshman year on Microsoft Teams due to Covid and one of their most important memories of their lives were ruined due to poor planning.
What toxic memory for graduation
My son’s high school graduation was held at a local colleges stadium w/more than enough space to accommodate guests. They still limited attendance & gave out tickets❤️🎓👏🏾. Whitehaven should consider using a larger venue next year.
The district should use a bigger venue. It's unacceptable.

This seems to be happening with several schools all over the country and it's at schools where it mainly black kids at,basically the schools not giving a sh** about their families coming to see the kids graduate at all smh
I wonder did they go overboard with their Senior pranks, sometimes Administration can be upset with what happened (sometimes children will go overboard) (rightly so) and really not care about graduation, because the students care so much about it. I am from Memphis and Whitehaven always have had a great graduation, but where I currently live in Mississippi the students at a local school here did a prank here, that admin was pretty upset about. The seniors left a message that they would clean it up the next day and they did. I think social media is numbing the children to what is appropriate and what is not and also little guidance at home.
I’m really disgusted that black people in the comments don’t think that family doesn’t have the right to see their children graduate high school. They should’ve held it somewhere else, hold the school responsible they shouldn’t have given out 10 tickets!
When my kids graduated from WHS in 2009 & 2011 their graduations were held downtown, what changed?

My daughter’s graduation is at her high school, we get 6 tickets. But the most important person to attend is the PARENTS or guardian. Not your grand parents, aunties, uncles, cousins, neighbor, mailman.
I guess some school’s have different graduation time’s my grandson’s last day of school was the 23rd of May and his school hasn’t had graduation yet
It happens. The weather changed, so they had to come inside. There were limited tickets. Now could they have the graduation in the gym? They could have more people attend if it was in the gym.

Let's keep it real....this had nothing to do with the weather. They were afraid shooting or fighting would break out, and I don't blame them. Should've planned this out, so the parents know what to expect.

Graduation from High School is a milestone to many accomplishments in life. If more family then tickets, show it in a monitor. Some people have big families, some don't. The families that do not use all tickets should donate them to larger families. Once in z lifetime and not all make it.

Blame shifting the weather. They bad admission decisions robbed these families and students of memories
there's no way they could have tarped it like a day or 2 before said weather? unless it came as a surprise...? maybe that's a lesson here: either 1) use a larger space if possible and 2) tarp the field and bleachers perhaps eeeven ifff the weather is supposed to be good for the day of and days leading up to the graduation event. just in case

Really? 😂 I honestly didn’t give a shyt about non of that when I graduated, my mother made me participate, I was ready to get to the money, fk a prom, class trip, ring and cap and gown, just give me my diploma so I can dip 😂
These people are whining over a decision made for THEIR safety.
If they stuck to the original plan of having it outside and someone got injured, then they would not only be whining but suing the local government.
They had a great plan (That many people there and in the comments are ignoring) because spring weather is unpredictable.
If they had rescheduled, then people would’ve whined about the fact they travelled and planned for the scheduled day.
Bottom line, they were going to whine regardless.
Anyone that has been to a high school auditorium knows that you have enough seats to fit the size of the student population and one third of the school employees.
Please remember that classroom over crowding has been a thing for I while, hence the 3 ticket inside maximum.
Common sense will tell you that it wasn’t done maliciously.
Everything isn’t a conspiracy to keep you from something.
And let’s be honest.
You wasn’t going to follow the rules anyway.
You weren’t going to be silent until all names are called.
And you were going to stand up and record the entire ceremony with an iPad.
So give us a break from your delusional of grandeur.
So let’s play this out.
So you’re going to force your way into the building.
Get mad that all of the seats are filled.
Complain the entire ceremony that it’s hot, lack of seating, and that you can’t see.
Refuse to follow the rules in a twisted sense of “Getback”
Then leave and run straight to the news cameras (like you did anyway) to complain.
No wonder the teachers and administrators did what they chose.
Because they factored many of things into the equation and also remembered the most important thing.

Unacceptable,the united states do have rain sometimes and memohis is no acception ,they should of have a alternative sight just in case of rain ,storms, etc ,in Milwaukee our public schools graduation are in doors. ,but not at the high schools but at a arena down town milwaukee ,they can have a couple a day.the panther arena is owned by university of Wisconsin milwaukee they also have their own graduation there it can accommodates alot of people.

I guess graduating from high-school is the event of a lifetime for people who don’t expect for the kids to do anything else with their lives. The parents and grandparents could attend and everyone else could get together after the event.
Also, I am sure the folks in attendance had recording devices. It is always drama whenever we are involved.
