This was a time when there wasn't a lot of cross-over of black music on radio stations; but thank God that changed quickly in the 60s or my musical landscape would not have been as rich. The first time I heard "Blue-eyed soul" applied to any non-black performer was with The Righteous Brothers in the early 60s. (I don't claim they were the first; only the first time I heard the term) First time listeners- of any color - of those two thought they were a black duo, and were surprised that the singing was coming from a couple of blue-eyed white dudes. Even in today's reactions on TH-cam, you see the surprise on the faces the great black reactors on this channel to those early videos of The Righteous Bros.

You can definitely hear the similarities. "Family Man" is more of a rock song, but also very good. You mentioned you like solos, and there's a good guitar solo there.
