The panel gaps are pretty good tbh and the issues you found wont be noticable by 99% of the customers. To be expected for a new car where they (finally) ramp up production. This will improve over time. All of the things you critizized can and will be fixed by the local Porsche dealer, no questions asked. Thats part of the service. Except the colour "difference" on the front bumper. This will be looked at by the engineering team Im pretty sure but I doubt they will repaint the thing and I also doubt any customer would complain about it anyway. Colour looks amazing. So this car can be put into near perfect condition by the dealer, so I wouldnt really say there is any issue here.

Thank you very much, Coleton and Kyle, for this video! I right away checked the rear door shades on my car and they are fine, so I guess it's just an error on your car. The holes in the front and backseats are indeed totally different in my car as well! (I have the 14 way seats with cooling/heating and massage.) In Europe the electric badge is an option you can delete. One more thing: If you are testing the car at night during the coming week, what is your opinion on the inside door handle; I had a couple of passengers that couldn't find the (black) door handle trying to exit the car. I think it should be lit at night (at least when the car is at standstill).

    • @FrancescoBorsotti
      @FrancescoBorsotti 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I think that the difference in the holes in the back seats is due to the cooling system of the front seats. It needs bigger holes to be efficient. But it is a theory…

I'm glad you posted this. I finally received a call that Macan 4 was ready. I was SO excited. until I saw and test drove it. The Macan 4 i drove seemed really bumpy, there was rattling coming from the front-end. Front hood, as noted in the video seemed really off.
I couldn't justify trade in my Mach-E GT for it. Doesn't feel or drive like a major upgrade. So I'll kept my GT. For the time being

I too am coming from a Mach-E GT. I placed an order in mid-August for a Macan 4S, with expected delivery end of November. I test drove the Macan 4, as soon as the launch vehicles became available (in So Cal) at the end of September. I have driven three different Macan 4 vehicles, and my experience was quite different than yours. My dealer let me take a car out for about 45 minutes, so I had time to thoroughly check it out. It was beyond my expectations, and I cannot wait to take delivery of my 4S. I respectfully disagree, that the Macan 4 "doesn't feel or drive like a major upgrade". IMO, it is a significant upgrade (albeit a pricey one) to a Mach-E GT, no comparison. Had the Macan EV been available when I moved to electric two years ago, the Mach-E GT would not have even been on my radar.
Since the Macan 4 has Adaptive Air Suspension as standard equipment, I'm surprised you thought it "drove bumpy". I don't know what drive mode you were in for the test, but the driving dynamics are every bit what I expected for a Porsche (I have owned four). I certainly did not experience any of the NVH issues you mentioned. I did not study the fit and finish / panel gaps on the car, but +/- 1mm of a 4-5 mm baseline spec when new, is the target industry wide. When the gap starts at 1-2mm, is when there's a problem, as it will shift over time. Aesthetically, the Macan 4 tolerances noted in the video are not even visible to the naked eye, and are well within spec.
That was not the case with my Mach-E GT. Ford currently has two active recalls with the Mach-E, and one of them is a paint issue. And given that an adjustable suspension is absent on the Mach-E, it has always suffered from a rough "bumpy" ride. And as for performance, the Mach-E's speed limiter kicking in at 5 seconds was a real buzzkill. Not to mention the missing features (on a top trim level), slow SW on the infotainment system, no regen settings, spotty Blue Cruise, finicky door buttons, etc. Definitely not the experience Porsche ownership provides. And as evidenced by Ford slashing Mach-E pricing again and cutting back on EV production (retooling plants for ICE production), resale value is dropping fast. I was advised by the Used Car Manager at a Ford dealer, to take the best offer (from Carvana) now, because the car would depreciate $2-3K in the three months while the Macan 4S was being built. That's what I did, and I haven't looked back.

I’m awaiting delivery of a Macan Turbo electric in paint to sample riviera blue, 22” RS alloys etc etc - from what you’ve said in this video, you’ve cemented my decision. Interior you drooled over, and panel gaps measured with a feeler gauge - sorry to be critical of what you’re doing here, but c’mon…. I spent 1hr 15 minutes watching this with the eventual conclusion of what exactly? I’ll be doing a video of my car when I get it, just so others can see the specs I’ve chosen and what it looks like, so people can make informed decisions.

Reversing Cam - my new Mini Countryman S E has exactly the same “fisheye” distortion made worse by the lens swivelling as you turn the steering wheel! I now use the ultrasonic sensors for backing up close to things instead of the camera. My 2023 LR Defender and all the Range Rovers and Defenders I’ve owned with a back up camera have not suffered from this “problem”
3rd screen not visible to the driver when moving………… such old tech, my 2010 Range Rover Evoque had that system on its one centre screen so the front passenger could watch a video but the driver could only see the driving info screen when the car was moving. And that was NOT an on cost on the Evoque!

Great review! One note about the leather interior. That car is spec'd with the extended leather package; you have to drop down to "standard" leather package to get the Chalk colour, which then removes some of the leather elements. Two of the more notable (to me) changes when you drop down to standard leather are: (i) loss of leather and stitching on the upper door panels, and (ii) on the centre console, its not wrapped in leather but instead is a hard plastic that resembles leather.

@@gavcom4060 Sure, flat SQ matters, but if the perception is that it lacks on one end of the EQ, it can certainly sway public perception. Similar to how I, and I think most, feel about Rivian's Elevation. The audio is clear, has good separation (especially with ATMOS enabled content) but generally lacks bass. Does that make it bad, not necessiarly, but look online at how many people complain. I'm sure the AMT front tweeters produce super accurate, crystal clear highs, I just hope the bottom end is equally up to task. "it slaps" leads me to believe I won't be too disappointed.

A bit disappointed that you didn’t pick on the hung accelerator pedal which is not what Porsche use in the 911/ 718 or Panamera - floor mounted pedal. IMO this makes a significant difference on long twisty drives.
BMW seems to get the accelerator pedal right each time with their floor mounted pedals and I think these pedals also fit with the rest of the Audi and VW line up.

I'm curious why the Genesis GV60 wasn't mentioned as a possible cross-shopping model. It has a similar size and shape, 25 cm shorter and 5 cm narrower at the outside, but actually a slightly longer wheel base, which probably translates to matching interior room, if not slightly bigger? It's a luxury brand too, even if perhaps not quite at the Porsche level. The big difference is that Genesis includes almost everything with the standard trim levels, while Porsche makes you pay extra for every little feature, even some things that are included with most EVs these days. A detailed comparison would be interesting. How much more does one get for the much more expensive reasonably specced Macan? The bigger battery is one significant upside for the Macan, but what else? Obviously, those who want to customise all the trim colors won't get this from Genesis, but for those who just want a good and fun car, is the Genesis GV60 the better deal?

I had a deposit down for a Macan Turbo EV since the summer of 2022 as the brother had a Taycan CT 4S on order the year previous, well when the brother received his December 2022 it has been nothing but problem after problem and frankly if you ignored it's superior handling it's actually a very average interior and build quality for something over £100K. I cancelled my order and decided to lease an i5M60 for a couple of years to see how things improve with EVs and this was the wisest thing I could have done, the BMW feels way better sorted as an EV than the Taycan and it's technology actually works all of the time.
Porsche in my opinion have a real problem with EV, in fact all European brands do because they are expecting the same price as their regular cars and the chinese brands are matching them in terms of quality but in some cases undercutting them by 60% like for like. No wonder countries like American are placing such high tariffs on their products and I imagine others will follow.

My Macan Turbo is similarly spec'd to the one the video except mine has rear axle steering and is aventurine green. It looks spectacular from 100 feet, 10 feet, or up as close as one can get. I absolutely love the driving dynamics. I couldn't care less if the paint is 4.77 mils or 5.32 mils. The only thing that is less than perfect is the Burmester. It is good but not great. When I saw the car for the first time in the meet and greet room at my local Porsche dealer I new that every choice I made in the configurator was spot on. After a few days of ownership I went back and opted for the extended warrantee because I know I will own this car for a long time.

After test drive I'm canceling my order. You missed that the visors don't extend to the side to block the afternoon soon. Not only a comfort detail but a serious safety issue. The killer for me is no one foot driving and slow throttle response (on the 4 at least), so the engaging and delightful qualities of electric driving are compromised. So Porsche succeeded in making this electric car act like a dirty car, unfortunately. A Tesla is actually more fun unless you are at the track.
Also, it's O.K to like cars that don't poison the earth and my children---you seemed a bit embarrassed by that. Good review though, and the beautiful Macan HVAC switches should be required in all cars with screens.

Sure, it's surely a lifestyle choice... does not mean it is not overpriced. People pay $1,000 for a MontBlanc pen as well... most don't get it, and while yes it is better than a $1 BIC pen, you can get a chinese clone for around $25 to $35 which is just as good. The majority of the pricetag is purely to make brand owners feel special... Underneath, this is just another Audi/VW product with same underpinnings as ID4. The only real Porsche are the 911 and Caymans. PS... we do have a P car in our family. lol... beyond the other typical Germans and have raced P cars around the track. Taycans are already significantly discounted and these will be just the same.

    •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

You just don't get it. What makes a discerning Porsche owner feel special, is the performance dynamics of the car, which is pure Porsche DNA. And the Macan 4S and Macan Turbo are by no means just another Audi / VW. Do your homework.
Thanks for your prediction about the depreciation, Nostradamus. I don't disagree with you there. I also don't care about the 50% depreciation in a few years. You only live once, and I want what I want.
I've had 911s and a 718 Cayman. I had my share of fun with them, but they're just not practical as daily drivers. The Macans are a lot more comfortable with plenty of performance to boot. You heard Kyle say that he prefers The Macan to the Taycon, as his daily driver. You would understand if you had an opportunity to regularly drive both. Enjoy your ID4. LOL.

Obviously very very very few people see it like you and why dealers are begging people to buy anything on the lots except the latest limited edition vehicle. And no... definitely no ID4 here... too small, too crappy, and no proper one pedal driving. =P We have a number of Teslas and a Lightning now.
