- LEGO Star Wars the Skywalker Saga was a big game for this channel i made multiple videos covering the news and buildup for it and LEGO was a main part of this channel. Now with the game being out I give my critique and anaylsis of the game and why i think it suffers from a loss of lego identity. At the end of the video i will talk about the future of this channel now that LEGO is done.

People keep saying 'What did you expect? It's a kid's game.' but then so were the originals and they were way more difficult.
I don't understand why people think that it being a kid's game exceuses it from any criticism. It doesn't matter if a game is made for kids or adults, being mediocre or disappointing shouldn't be accepted. And it's funny how no one used the "It's just a kid's game" excuse when it came to Lego Indiana Jones 2. It was fine to criticize that game, but for some reason it's suddenly not okay to criticize this game.
@@hermos3602good thing it wasn’t mediocre then! I loved playing it. Honestly the original LEGO Star Wars game was fun for its time but when they did the original trilogy game it was already like “ok, I’ve seen this… it was cute first time…” It wasn’t even “harder” it just took waaaay longer to do everything. This game was great fun and a huge step up on LEGO games.
They weren't more difficult, like killing enemies was way easier in those ones as you could one shot most of them and the old games didn't punish you for spamming attacks.

Dude, I thought I was the only one who felt this way about it. That's really refreshing.
I remember back in the early weeks when this game came out people got so defensive about this game that they disregarded or ignored anyone who criticized it. People actually used the "It's just a kid's game" excuse to defend it. I don't understand how it being a game for kids excuses any criticism. Where was this excuse when Lego Indiana Jones 2 was criticized? Why was it okay to criticize that game but not this one?
Thank goodness. I thought this game was so overrated and the comedy felt more Disney than Lego.

crazy how just 3 years prior to this they released lego dc supervilllains which is a perfect example of what a good lego game should be(great levels and puzzels, a large amount of characters who are all unique and a great open world). then they release the skywalker saga, the most generic "lego" game that is nothing like a lego game. The worst part is that it was so popular that future lego games are most likely going to be just like this
My biggest issue with Skywalker Saga is that there’s not much replayability.
Unlike the previous LSW games, you can’t actually experience the whole game a second time unless you actively do a new playthrough.
Also, yes, there are some levels in Skywalker Saga which are ABSURDLY short. Some levels, especially on replaying, can literally be beaten in under a minute and a half.
They could've made a use for an old feature from the complete saga called super story where you could just replay the whole movie once you beat it
I find the humor in this game to be more meta humor instead of visual humor like some of the other games

Worst part about the game is no character customization
Might be an odd comparison but I feel this game had a lot of similar problems to Lego Indiana Jones 2. Short levels, lack of original puzzles and every character was kind of a cardboard cutout of each other so to speak following every hub. Both games seemed to focus on the much more recent movie(s) rather than the entire franchise as a whole as well.
The Skywalker Saga is a gorgeous looking game no doubt about it. But I agree that it lacked just the specialness that made the other TT titles so iconic. This might be a bit harsh to say but I think if this was the first Lego TT game to come out, the lego games would not be as successful...
The game was too open for its own good.
Glad Indy 2 had a level creator though, it broke away from the mold of Lego games, but still managed to circle back to something in the Lego spirit of creativity
Let's not talk like the previous games are masterpieces, the gameplay can be tedious and the levels pretty boring.
Skywalker saga may have flaws but is a total evolution for the lego games.
This makes me wonder if they are gonna use the Skywalker Saga formula for future LEGO games or if they are gonna go back to the original formula.
I think TSS formula can work if they just polish it more. A remake of LEGO LOTR with gameplay being a mix of TSS and DC Supervillains would be awesome.
This version of Lego Star Wars was such a terrible Lego Star Wars game that I actually straight up FORGOT that I not only owned the game but had beaten it already over a year ago.
The second I saw they turned the Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight into just another generic boss fight, I turned the game off and haven’t touched it since. It’s genuinely embarrassing that the game from 2007 is infinitely more replayable and enjoyable than the new one.
The only thing i wish is that fanboys of this game could at least acknowledge its flaws instead of blindly praising it

Idk. Dc supervillains was basically the peak in terms of utilizing and refining every system built up throughout both it and the marvel superhero games. I was hoping SS was going to be like that but instead it’s a total regression of every single system presented in the previous games in its wheelhouse

I really enjoy the exploration and mission parts but I think the levels, fighting combos and cop outs for some levels could be improved on
This game was just underwhelming. I had such I expectations and people keep using the kids game excuse, but the fact is that it wasn’t treated like a kids game. It hyped itself so much, and people of all ages anticipated what those 4 years had to offer, but it just didn’t deliver. I don’t play Lego games for just the open world either, so this game already is a no. I’m so glad that I was able to play the game for free thanks to game pass, otherwise I would have wasted money on something I wouldn’t like.

I totally agree.
What Skywalker Saga does wrong:
1. Lack of platforming ( Pressing A to do automatical jumps does not count, it just isn't fun )
2. Poor level design ( No puzzles and mostly forced locked camera on the boss )
3. Absence of combat in open world
4. Too many loading areas between side missions ( When the game sends you from one planet to another )
5. Restricts you to have only 2 characters as a party
A few things they did right:
1. Beautiful environments
2. Hillarious cutscenes
3. Awsome little interactions between characters upon swapping
4. Good mechanics on space combat ( But not used to fully potential )
A controversial element is the collectibles. I was so excited to hunt down every piece of brick and 100% the game ( which I did ) but it doesn't reward you with anything particular and leaves you with an unsatisfying feeling. In addition, the characters' leveling-up system which at first seems good to have turns out to be entirely useless due to extremely easy difficulty.

1. It has some platforming but I kinda see what you mean?
2. nah the level design is good and there is certainly puzzles. And the camera stuff on the boss makes sense.
3. I mean....there is ways to trigger the combat more.
4. Well what else would they do? That only makes sense.
5. eh....not always plus there is a cheat that allows you to add more.
You forgot other stuff that it did well like the great combat, the great bosses, the character roster etc.
I disagree the bricks are pretty useful still and feel satisfying to collect. It isn`t entirely useless as enemies are more durable and strong in this game and bosses can be pretty strong too yoo.
Speaking of lacking LEGO identity:
- No character creator!! >:(
They delayed it by like, 2 years because they wimped out on the original intention to restore the grunts instead of dialogue and had to rework it for voices
The open world of this game feels so sterile compared to what was teased. The lack of big battles like Geonosis was crazy since significantly older games were able to pull them off. The lack of replayability for story mode too (like not being able to fight Jango or Order 66 clones again) really is a shame. But the biggest insult of all is the lack of character customization, something that was promised once preorders were already live. How do you have a modern Lego game without any customization?
10:03 I found that so jarring because even in the original games characters died even if it was censored or done in a different way they never did this “gotcha they’re still alive!” BS that this game does. It’s such an odd choice

Because the scenes/jokes in the older games were written with the mumble in mind. In Skywalker saga they are not and it just doesn't land at all.

I was excited for this game when they announced it. It sounded like my dream LSW game with a huge open world and a huge character roster. Then I got to actually play the game and I got dissapointed. Here are some reasons why:
-The character roster was big for... what reason? To have more characters? But why does it matter to have more characters if they all play like the same! I wouldn't even call them characters but a skin for a class. Not to mention that a lot of characters that SHOULD have been base game are DLC. Cpt. Rex is the best example. I know he wasn't in the original films the game was centered around, but for God's sake, is Jabba's mom more worthy of being there?
-The puzzles fell flat for me. They were more tedious than the TFA ones. Some of those at least had some fun animations or solutions to them, the only downside was the overspammed R2-D2 or B-B8 panels. A now what they decide to do? Ofc take out the worst of that game, the panels, and make a whole game around them! The other "puzzles" where basically press a button with a certain class and you are done. No multiple characters or mechanics involved, just a character does their thing and you are done. I watched a video when the game came out that showcased this problem on one of the levels. The guy literally just walked, pressed 2 buttons and walked again until the end of the level.
-This kinda ties in with the last point, but the missions where boring. It usually was just slaughtering waves of enemies until you are done. Also, the bossifght was good, until you had to do it like 12 times. I said bossfight because you basically play against the same enemy and mechanics all the time. The only unique thing the bosses have is their skin and if they are really lucky, two animations. If you've seen Maul, you've seen every other boss.
-The open world was also kinda boo-boo. The missions where copy pasted to hell and back and were just a general slog to get through.
-The memes felt very forced (no pun intended). The original games had their own jokes, goofiness and humor. Now it feels like they made someone spend a day on r/starwarsmemes and select the funny one that were used a lot. These are going to age like milk. 10 years from now all these memes will be buried in the mass grave of dead jokes while the older game still have a lot of relevant and fun moments.
Now I know what happened behing the scenes and that the developers where treated like catshit and I respect them for even finishing this game. That doesn't mean I wasn't disappointed with how it turned out.
I wish the lego series took advantage of minigames in a versus or party game atmosphere, at least for older players. Like minigames that took advantage of the IP of each release. Like the snow ball fights of mario party, where instead of snowballs, star wars characters could pick up charges for their blasters.
I just honestly prefer the complete saga lol. Also most of the humor and cutscenes in this game are terrible to me and take me out of playing a lego version of these star wars films where tcs was more subtle and had more charm while still feeling like you're reliving the films. Memes just ruin it and just feels like cringy pandering to me.

I personally loved and became my second favourite game of all time.
But I must agree, a difficulty option would be good so you could have a bit of challenge, and some enemies in the overworked would be cool.
However they personally didn't effect my enjoyment, great game but has alot room for improvement.

I love it but I wish they put more effort into the story levels. Missed many iconic lines and missions we all wanted to play (Obi-wan vs Vader, Mace vs Palps).
You can turn off automatic health recovery and all the aim assist stuff to make it a bit more challenging. That’s what I did when I started playing it.

I don't dislike Lego StarWars The Skywalker Saga,but it is not anywhere near the same as the original Lego StarWars games, I miss the original Lego StarWars games, I loved how in those games during a boss battle you could see the bosses face icon in the middle, and health points below. But Lego StarWars The Skywalker Saga doesn't have that, and it's a shame, I wish they did, I wish modern Lego games did, it would be so cool.

Almost bought it for $20 from Nintendo but this videos is changing my mind from all the eye candy that shown in the game.
Isnt kinda stupid that older games felt like they had more interactive mechanics that felt meanfull despite being simple in nature compared to these big conplex games now that arenso big and complex, those small meaningful things are either missed, or too hard to incorporate ecause they make the main thing too complex.

@@CyberLocky I disagree with that, Rockstar games shows that you can have a big world with a lot of detail far surpassing what you have done before.
The perfect lego game for (I think) most Complete saga fans would be pretty much the old game, but updated with the innovations from Lego Clone wars and force awakens, as well as the type of open word seen in Lego Harry Potter and Lego Indiana Jones 2 andthe character builder from DC super villains (of course with the graphics and character models in the version we ended up with)
In other words, the actual game was too different and too boring, compared to the classic lego game formula

This game still makes me sad, THIS is the successor to the Complete Saga? No, certainly not, those games are still trapped in a time capsule.
I absolutely loved the game! It might be my favorite Lego game! Though I do agree with some of your points like the enemy aim.
7 months have past and i was wondering has your opinion chnaged? I think a lot of people liked it when it came out but i think more people realized it was actually kinda lame after the first playthrough
@@AIRWAY26 I still absolutely love it! Even though there are a few things I wish they did I still love it! I even realized that in some of the levels the standard enemies don’t have terrible aim and are actually pretty good shots!
The one part that this LEGO game doesn’t have is saying this level is so confusing

Me personally, I don't own this game but it looks really nice from the trailers so I'll give it a shot myself. I don't think that LEGO's lost its identity yet thanks to us fans.

For me the level side is the issue
Quick Brick Games told me on Twitter that he'd change this game by focusing more on the levels instead of open world while adding online play and the character creator. I'd make a lot more changes besides that with one being that I'd abolish the level challenges.
A dlc of missing content would be cool
I want a Lego pirates of the Caribbean game because this style would be perfect for it. Or I was thinking the Jurassic films. I only have three complaints one you can’t go back and play all of the free Rome missions two not enough puzzles three not enough hostile enemies in the open world and if you do attack civilians, no one comes after you I know most people probably don’t want it but when on Corus Aunt playing as a Jedi, I want to be attacked by clone troopers after order 66. Sorry I have four no ground battles similar to the space battles house would be so fun using ground troops and it will give you a reason for the combos and such.
It’s alright, but not as “filled” as it should be. A friend and I started it in co’op, and completely the first half of Episode One within about 30mins. It took me longer to play the first chapter of episode 1 in the complete saga

They have to fix free play in all levels in Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga for us to keep the characters we chosen in all story and boss levels.
Like if you want story mode, then just go to story mode, if you want to play any character you want, go to free play, doesn’t make sense for us to be locked into story mode characters if we’re in free play mode.
This game needs more story levels, like it really needs more battles and a harder difficulty, & bonus levels as well, what levels were cut.
at first i was amazed with the game... then i finished chapter 1 in like 2 hours and was like tf is it ending so fast...butht ehworst part is that in a why is there only one thing to build every 2 chapters.. makes no sense

I haven’t played many Lego games. I have Lego Indiana Jones 1, The Incredibles, and the Skywalker saga. I can say, the skywalker saga is not the best lego game of all time like people say. Incredibles, the other one I have with voice acting feels natural. In the skywalker saga, it has these long, drawn out sections of walking and talking. The puzzles in Indiana Jones were genuinely hard to figure out the first time around. While in the skywalker saga, I only had to look on TH-cam for that section in the force awakens with the weird monster thing. The characters in The Incredibles and Indiana Jones are unique, while in the skywalker saga there are many copy paste characters where the only difference is their appearance. The bosses in the skywalker saga are just the same shit over and over again with a few exceptions. The best thing about this game is the cutscenes. It’s boring as hell in free play with no enemies except in space, capital ships are useless, the skywalker saga has 5 levels per movie while Indy and Incredibles have 6. Also, mumble mode is practically useless. Lego Indiana Jones has visual humor, and I’m sure the other mumbling Lego games do, too. While in mumble mode you have to read the subtitles to know what the f*ck is going on. Lego Star Wars the skywalker saga overall is a decent experience but far from the best Lego game of all time. My favorite is Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures.

I'm really enjoying the game honestly. I am kind of annoyed by some of the things they took away....I wish that we had been able to fly around during the Battle over Coruscant and I don't know why they didn't let us play as Mace vs Palpatine or Ben vs Vader on the death star.
Besides some shortness of levels and odd choices I felt like the levels were more focused on combat and action and the free roaming for kyber bricks is where the puzzles are which I kind of appreciate.
I love the old games but I think alot of them were kind of a slog to get thru at times. Skywalker Saga to me is what I want more for Lego titles but it seems I'm in the minority.
I feel like Skywalker Saga is an upgrade but I totally get why others Don't care for it.
I booted the game up played for 10 minets and hated the way combat works so much I turned it off and never picked it up

I fundamentally disagree with you saying there are "not many puzzles". There are literally hundreds of puzzles per planet in the whole galaxy.
Giving someone a screwdriver and showing them which screw to unscrew does not a puzzle make
Yes, but those should've been in the actual main levels instead of being used for mid side content.
There may be lots of puzzles but from what I've noticed more than a half of them is just picking up a battery and putting it into a generator
This game was terrible I don't get why people like it. The bad, short levels really hold the game back. Yeah you can play as a lot of characters, but there's nothing to do with them.
I think there should be a LEGO Arrowverse game or a LEGO TMNT next. They should go with something a little more fresh.
LEGO can’t do a TMNT game unless they get the license back. And LEGO lost that license to Mega Construx way back around 2015.

AMD most of them aren't even levels. A lot of the story is done through the hub areas. And the levels themselves are really short.

Favorite level comes from the sequels, of all things, and it's the level where they first meet Han. I enjoy it because you have to switch characters to allow the other characters to progress.

Regardless of not being the biggest Lego fan in general, the fact that this game made me not hate experience the PREQUELS OF ALL THINGS is more than a feat
11:11 already happened it was called lego Starwars 3 and in every way is better than The Skywalker Saga From what i heard it wasn't tts Fault it had to do with Disney sticking there big nose in the development that's the main reason why we can't have custom characters infact they worked again with Disney and then full on cancelled it because Disney we're to difficult Rip lego Disney moral of the story is Disney is a pain to work with
there are no problens with this game the worlds look so great lots of action everything about this is perfect now what exactly are the issuse of it alright perhaps The Skywalker Saga could have a remake to correct whatever is not so great about the game and I can't believe it's still not butter .

Honestly this game feels like Star Wars battlefront 2015. Nice and flashy, but not much depth.
For crying out loud, the lightsaber boss fights are nearly all the exact same! The hacking mini games were tedious. Way too easy, even platforming was dumbed down. Oh, and the side quests got old real quick.
Huge fan of the original three lego star wars games and this was just a terrible game. They sacrafised level design for a week open world game. when i got to empire strikes back and the first mission was looking for luke i turned the game off and havent picked it up since.

Honestly this is probably the worst Lego game. Every other Lego game has very unique gameplay and the goofy building to build something dumb is a core pillar of Lego games.
This game was trying to be too different and it’s completely boring. You just walk around and kill a few enemies and then repeat, repeat, repeat. I literally played up till attack of the clones and returned the game. The levels are too short and it’s just not fun at all
Lego pirates of the carribean, Lego Batman, Lego Indiana jones, and Lego Harry Potter and still the best and legendary Lego games

I played this game to 100 percent then I went back and played DC Villains. DC villians is the far superior game. The levels are much longer and the levels have lego building and clever puzzles. The Skywalker Saga consisted of short levels with hardly any lego building.

Honestly, and I know this is a hot take, but I blame the fans. You were all impatient and rushed TT Games to release the game, then have the guts to whine about it being incomplete. I didn't care how long it took. I just wanted a great lego game. Maybe all of you could follow that example in the future?
I think you guys are all just upset that you’ll never get that same feeling you got when you played the original Lego starwars because time moves on… “losing Lego touch”? Like bro it’s a goofy kids game, like I’m 20 in between both of the original and this one, I’ve played them on the game cube or ps2 when I was younger n I felt the same nostalgia from this one, but most people want something to complain about now n days so it is what it is at the end of the day
