I had 2 Amazon logins. I accidentally used my alternate account. KDP removed the spurious account on my request. Honesty is the best policy.

Interesting, when I upload color books or journals, I notice that the category it ends up in is not even close to what I chose.

The simplicity of your videos makes the content super easy to listen, making it even more valuable, so thank you for that 😊 I have a pretty okay small business on Etsy where my handmade yearly planners are my best sellers and I would love to start on KDP however I can't make up my mind as I find Planners to fit on both low and medium content.... they do have very similar layouts on each page, however the content is slightly different as it shows different months and different activities (budget plan, to do lists etc)... where would you place and classify monthly and weekly planners? Ideally I would like to be able to have the same inside and diferent covers, however not to the point of having 20 pages of searches as the designs are done by me, I dont create designs in bulk for sure but would like to offer variety within the same content... so low or medium? Such a hard decision! Thank you!!! 😊

Thank you for making these amazing videos. You have been a great help to me and the world at large.
I have some questions that I would be glad if you could help out with them
    1. Can I make a notepad of 4.5 x8 inches or must it be one of the known/popular inches?
    2. Would I publish it under paper back/ Kindle/hardcover?
    3. I didn't see my size among the trim size should I just manually input the size?
    4. Is notepad among low content books?
    5. Would it be better using standard color interior with white paper or premium color interior with white paper (under the ink and paper type) as it is a beautifully designed notepad with bright colours?
    6. Should the trim size be the same as the pad size which is 4.5 x 8?
    7. Should I select bleed or no bleed?
    8. Would picking glossy cover affect the ink and paper type?
    9. Also is it true that if your price is above $10 Amazon would remove more taxes and percentage?
I know they are quite much, I would be grateful if you could take out of your time and help out with answering them.
Thank you so much for your time
    Much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬

Hi Caroline, happened across your channel and am enjoying your content. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🤓 I appreciate you and feel inspired. A thought that crossed my mind that may be of use to you, (I am not a content creator in this space, so take my two cents for what they are worth-not a lot, I am simply an avid YT viewer), working in shorter videos around the 4-7 minute range may be of use for your viewership. Testing out “shorts” may be useful too. Social media is only shortening the attention span of the average viewer, but long before TikTok and the like, the most viewed videos were under ten minutes. I think I first came across the fact watching a Casey Neistat video. Again, I appreciate your videos and am “liking” as I go through your library, just a suggestion I thought might be of use. Best wishes! 🙏🏼

Hi ,Thank you so much for all the efforts you take in educating about Amazon KDP and other important topics!! i have one question, about repetitive interiors. Since the notebook or journal has only ruled pages that is repetitive for about a 100 pages, i was wondering how will we upload and how will amazon kdp approve these books? is there a specific procedure to follow while uploading them?

Thank you for the video about Amazon's rules. I can't agree with you though that Amazon is trusted and credible in their Reviews; the number of scandals that we even know about is staggering. Unfortunately, it seems like Amazon goes after the low-hanging fruit when it comes to review and other rules violations; in other words, publishers like us. The big time sales pages don't get whacked like we do.

Great tips you give. I wonder how does payment for sold books work. I guess you do not get a payment for 1 sold book at a time. Is there like a minimum amount that should be in your account before payout, or how does it work ?

    1. We travel frequently in an RV like many digital nomads. Due to lack of a signal when boondocking, I work offline and then bulk upload different designs when near a cell tower. Are you saying this is against the rules?
    2. We have had an Amazon Prime account for 10 yrs, which we use for our personal shopping. I don't want to use this account for KDP because if I get KDP suspended then my Amazon Prime account is taken away and we no longer have access to the movie database or the ability to shop while on the road. My husband would be pissed. Please address this. 😊
    3. Regarding only being able to have one account: If I have two conflicting book categories/topics, like a casino gambling topic, and a Christian inspirational book line, how am I going to prevent offending one or the other reader base if I don't keep these separate?

      1. It's not against the rules to upload lots of books but it is to use some kind of bulk uploading service to do it for you. If you do it yourself through your KDP account, that's fine.
      2. Prime is not connected to KDP so your Prime account shouldn't be affected if your KDP account was terminated.
      3. You upload all books into your one KDP account but create different pen names for them so they aren't connected in any way.

Just on the side note, KDP has serious software issues. When working on their software, all pages are perfect (NO Blank pages). However, once it hits the desktop prior to jumping into their kdp website publishing tool, oh my God.... When you get to check out how the book will look for the reader, you will notice BLANK PAGES!!!! Affecting like an author. SUCH with SCRIVENER that doesn't happen.

Hi thanks so much for all your helpful info! I’m wondering as a first time publisher on kdp - I have a journal I have created but it has multiple colour options for the cover. Is this just not an option when publishing on KDP? I’ve seen on Amazon people have books with different colour options but it seems they have published externally. Am I missing anything or do I just need to be decisive and pick one colour?

Why does trying to convert your book into a hardcover draw problems concerning losing your privileges to publish? And I mean books nearing 100,000 words or more, the length of a full novel?

Idk much about KDP, but logically it sounds fine. Having a few of the same design but in different color schemes is a different product to me. It would be bad practice if you were to make tens upon tens of the same book with only minor tweaks made to it.

So then, according to Amazon’s rules, how do you ask a customer who you gave your book to read to come back and leave you a review? 14:28
A lot of people ask for reviews by using services like Booksprout. I’m just curious what the right “wording” and “approach” would be to ask for reviews, whether using Booksprout, social media, or a different platform to ask for reviews. Some people suggest constantly reminding readers to leave you a review.
It’s interesting that you mention we shouldn’t get family or friends to review our books 15:14
Other people who give advice about KDP have suggested that we gather all of our family and people we know, and ask them to leave us a review once our book launches. Of course, that gives them an advantage because they get a whole bunch of sales and 5-star reviews from the beginning. I want to make sure that I stick to Amazon’s rules, but I also want to do all that I can to help my books succeed.

    • @AndrewHalliwell
      @AndrewHalliwell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Simple, you ask for a review. An honest one. In my book the end bit says "if you liked this, please leave a review, it can make all the difference. Hell, even if you didn't like it, leave one. Honesty is more important than five stars. You never stop learning as an author"

    • @realmarsattacksagain
      @realmarsattacksagain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@AndrewHalliwell if people don't have time to read the entire book or for whatever reason simply only get halfway through, they'll never see your solicitation for a review. People don't "read" low content books like logs so it could take them forever to see the review solicitation if you put it at the end. Children who use coloring books will never leave reviews!
